out of curiosity, what pressure are the tires set at? tech Qs from the OP should probably go in the Tech forum so more eyeballs will see it.

definitely is copper. I would have yanked it for sure if it was aluminum. my running hypothesis was that the disconnect wasn't fully inserted by the installer or some repair guy since. see, the box was mounted to the far side (unit is horizontal) where it was seriously hard to see what you were doing and you were essentially putting it in blind. can't say for sure, it's just a thought. but this time I moved the box to a far better location. easy to see and manipulate.

as it was explained to me, minor is "we're keeping you in ICU to see if it gets better or worse in the next 24 hrs". major is "we're prepping you for surgery".

she's doing better and is being stepped down to a regular room. will be picking her up in the morning.

I should be able to pick mom up soon. but I can't see the Durango until monday since the yard isn't open weekends.

the bigger shafts/joints can be swapped into the earlier axles too. 95ish+ XJs, XJs before that with ABS, and all TJs have the shafts with bigger joints. ZJ shafts with the CV joints can also be swapped in.

once I know what's going on with my mom I'll being swing by the durango to see what's up. if the engine hasn't been touched, there might be hope. but at this point I'm already looking up kbb values and starting to see what the used market is like to find another one.

oh, I'm pretty sure it's totaled. but I'm not an expert. the front doors still both work perfectly. mom stayed at the hospital for observation for some "minor" brain bleeding. still waiting on the results of the morning CT scan to see if it got better or worse. and there have been 3 times in the last 10 years I've wanted dash cam footage and only one of those 3 times was the card readable. and this was the most important one of the 3. I got nothing. damn. it.

unfortunately this particular trip is delayed, as my mother was in an accident with the Durango last night and while she is going to be ok, the Durango is... not. 🙁 and without a tow vehicle, I'm dead in the water for a while. I will update if things change.

Just her. She might have fractured something in her wrist, but she's going to be super sore all over either way. She's getting the x-rays right now. Thankfully my dad is on the mend from his lung infection and I'm on an upswing from my body's usual stupidity. 2 weeks ago this would have been far more of a hardship. But we'll take good care of her.

My mom is ok but the Durango is... not. So unless I'm able to use the eventual rental this trip will have to be on pause for an undetermined amount of time. Technically I'm still heading to Michigan, but only for my doc appts. I'll be contacting everyone personally later in once we're back from x-rays. Apologies for the inconvenience.
