  1. I like the bit of extra ground clearance the YJ/TJ tranny gives. :D
  2. I believe it's the transmission that does it. If I saw a random drivetrain combo sitting on the floor with nothing next to it for comparison, I'm not sure I could tell you if it was one or the other by looking at the clocking. :dunno:
  3. It's not very far off, but it is. Top pic is a stock TJ, bottom is a stock MJ Put them together and you get something like this: (TJ t-case in my 88 MJ)
  4. Yup, just about anything in the front suspension/steering that moves or flexes could be a cause or it could be a combination of several slightly worn items.
  5. Badges!? We don't need no stinkin' badges. :D Sorry. Couldn't help myself. :rotfl2:
  6. A tank of gas weighs a LOT and while the thought has always intrigued me, I eventually come to the conclusion that it really isn't necessary and I'd just haul around a bunch of dead weight all the time. May I suggest the alternative I eventually went with. :D I've got 10 extra gallons available and they look cool too.
  7. Multi port injection simply doesn't care about the extra 1" of space. Maybe for a carb or TBI, but I still wouldn't put my money into one.
  8. If you haven't done it already, I recommend having someone wiggle the steering wheel back and forth while you watch for slop in all the various joints, including balljoints, TREs, trackbar etc. For the balljoints you'll also want to jack up the tire and push-pull on the top and bottom of the tire to see if it moves. Also check the condition of the bushings in yout UCAs.
  9. I've recently come into possession of a Chas. M Stieff upright piano and can't find a date on it anywhere, just a serial number (35303). Anyone know of a website that has data on Stieff pianos? If I can get some time, next week I'll try and track down a local piano business to see what they can tell me.
  10. Yeah, yeah, I know. It's just been on the back burner. :(
  11. On this site, topics that start off as non-tech seem to move towards tech.
  12. Got mine! But now my $20 DVD player won't work. :( Curse this chinese pile o' crap! Hey Rick, is the addy on the envelope your new one?
  13. It does sound like not enough caster. How much lift? and what did you do about the lower control arms?
  14. A better swap might be the Explorer 8.8. 95-01 has disks and it's the right Jeep rim pattern, 3.55/3.73/4.10 ratios available, and very close to the right width.
  15. As to searching through the archives, make sure you click on the box that says to search for all of the search words.
  16. Are you looking for an eye-popping red? Or a more subtle red?
  17. What are you doing about the different wheel bolt pattern? Upgrading the frontend too?
  18. It's a 6 on 5.5 wheel bolt pattern and the same width as the Grand Waggy front axle. A normal Dana 44 U-joint flange can be used with it to eliminate the funky flange.
  19. He is sooooooooo lucky that didn't give up 8 seconds later. :brows:
  20. Are you talking about a 3 link with the triangulated upper arm? or a 3 link with radius arms and a track bar?
  21. Yeah, I've had plenty of people politely inform me about how poor my decision was. Doesn't matter what anyone says about their apparent "limitations", I love 'em and they've never been the limiting factor. Ever. Maybe I'm just not hardcore enough to have found the deficiencies. :dunno: :D
  22. 1.... 2.... 3! Three! Three links! ah, ah, ah ahhh. (Insert the voice from The Count from Sesame Street) Oh wait, not this particular 3 link? :D
  23. I've got a gallon jug collection the oil that comes out the top of mine. This is obviously not acceptable if you have vehicular inspections. Oh, and whatever you do, don't dump that oil back into the engine. The stuff collecting in my jug is about the nastiest oil I've ever seen.
  24. PCV filter? You mean the little tiny things? Or a bigger valve cover filter (like 3" across)?
  25. I tend to shy away from FAQ pages since I prefer that people ask questions. But the DIY idea is intriguing. Got a link to the other forum's DIY page so I can see what you mean?
