  1. Class 3 tow prep related stuff (except 86 which topped out at class 2) It's not necessarily a list of exactly what you get when you check the box because some of it is simply "also required". 86: 2.8L axle ratio: 4.10 (no mention of axle though) Automatic Transmission Heavy duty cooling Heavy duty Battery Power steering P205 tires or larger 87 and 88: Heavy duty rear axle 4.0L Automatic Transmission Heavy duty cooling Heavy duty Battery Power steering P205 tires or larger Full size spare 89: Heavy duty rear axle 4.0L Automatic Transmission Heavy duty cooling Electric aux fan Transmission oil cooler Heavy duty Battery Power steering P205 tires or larger Full size spare 90: Can't find the brochure. I'm assuming it's the same as 89 since the vehicle didn't really change 91: Only mention is "See your dealer for info about ordering your vehicle equipped in preparation for dealer installed trailer towing packages." (probably where I was getting the info in the back of my head since I've had this brochure the longest). 92: I only have the mini-brochure, but I'm assuming it's the same as 91
  2. You are right, I really should know better. I've been going through my brochures again and I gotta tell you my memory really does suck (ever since I was sick, but that's a story for another day). I've been going on my memory telling me that the hitch is installed at the dealership. While I was right about that, I'm finding that there was a prep package available in at least the early years. I'll fill in the details once I go through all of the brochures.
  3. Nothing beyond that I successfully drove it across the street (with no floor beneath me). That was interesting. :D But I'm only a couple days away from wrapping up the current projects and will likely bring the 90 back to the garage for a floor and a new fuse box soon.
  4. I recently found evidence that the Dana 44 was available in 87 with the Off Road package, but there was never a "Tow Package" offered in any year and the heavy-duty rear axle disappears from all subsequent brochures 88-92. Hitches were installed at the dealership.
  5. Rain and puddles are only 2 of the causes to under-carpet moisture. There's also A/C dripping and heater core leakage.
  6. Holy cow!!! I was digging around and found my 87 dealership brochure (somehow got separate from the rest of them) and the offroad package in 87 mentions it came with the "heavy-duty rear axle"! This disappears in all subsequent brochures. Feelin' better Eagle? :D The metric tonne package is still "longbed models only".
  7. You might need to upgrade your alt then. I've got a 170 amp unit (you won't need that much) and the engine doesn't do anything when I kick on both of my electric fans at the same time. If you've got an old 60 amp unit, then you might be straining it.
  8. So if I see it right in the pic, the trans mount to tranny bolts are close, but don't quite line up? Have you tried bolting the mount and crossmember to the trans first and then finagling it to the frame?
  9. I would hesitate before adding all that weight to a rig with only 33s. Plus ground clearance would suck. I say build the 30 and 44. :D
  10. All of my literature says that it was a LWB-only thing. But since all the parts just bolt right in to a SWB, someone could easily have swapped it over.
  11. AFAIK they didn't. But the later model t-case had a sealed rear output with the splines just hanging out in the air instead of being housed inside the aluminum housing. Maybe the t-case you saw had a flange conversion.
  12. Just take care that you don't plug up any possible drain holes.
  13. In 86 there was a full-time case offered, but it wasn't the 242. Not a single one of my brochures 87-92 mentions any sort of full-time option for the MJ.
  14. Yeah, for a single fan I'd recommend a quality aftermarket if possible. But if you've got an extra stocker lying around, you could try it and see. :brows:

If you have to ask why, then you probably don't realize just how long the winters are up there. :D
  16. Looks like you need some magnets or cards to hand out. :brows:
  17. You could go with an electric and gain a few ponies. :D
  18. Could be pinging? Maybe the knock sensor is bad or disconnected? :dunno: --Pete
  19. Please refer to Rule #2. http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1239
  20. Sweet. :D
  21. Because your MJ has a part-time transfercase, not a full-time 'case. Part-time means you should only drive it on slippery or loose surfaces. Full-time means you can drive it on dry pavement without hurting anything. It is possible to swap you part-time case for a full-time unit from a Cherokee.
  22. Fully boxed frames are awesome. :D Even if they are made from sheetmetal.
  23. The dimmer switch might be bad.
  24. Yeah, I bought an LED shop light so I never had to change a hot bulb again. And now the dang thing has a short in it and flickers all the time.
  25. Does the dimmer on your headlight switch work? If you rotate the knob back and forth, do any lights come on or dim? Also, you may want to review rule #2. http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1239 This club isn't like other sites on the web, I promise. :D
