  1. So far in my experience, 3 issues pop up when dealing with stickies. 1: Nobody ever seems to read the stickies. 2: Everybody's situations are slightly different and inevitably things that sound like they should be "universal truths" will turn out to be not-so-much. 3: Listing those things anyways would result in a FAQ that is astronomically huge (and might be why nobody ever reads the stickies).
  2. I feel your pain. But at the very least, I think you might need to buy a better quality strap.
  3. Then you need to respond to my last PM. :shake:
  4. For what it's worth (which is very little at this point), that little extra bracket that MJs have is not necessary on a stock MJ. XJs don't have it. Not sure if you can work around that though. The easiest solution might be to have new shorter arms made up. :(
  5. Skid plates came with the aptly named "skid plate package". They were not standard on 4x4 MJs.
  6. Cheap stuff is generally cheap for a reason.
  7. I'm not sure "budget" and "long arm" should be used in the same sentence. :hmm:
  8. Should be 4.10s, but I'd double check the tag if I were you. Also (if I were still standing in your shoes), I'd focus on finding a Dana 30 front that already has 4.10s in it so you won't have to regear anything. 2.5L 4wd conversion shortlist: -4wd AX-5 -21 spline t-case -shifter linkage, handle, and make sure you get that little bracket that bolts to the underside of the floor -front driveshaft from a 2.5L MJ/XJ -rear driveshaft from a 4wd 2.5L MJ (or have your 2wd one cut down to size like many of us do) -Dana 30 that matches your rear axle ratio
  9. Someone pointed out to me that "coon" is, shall we say, an "unflattering" reference to african-americans. Neither it, nor coon-@$$ are terms used in my neck of the woods (I had to google them), but if it's up there with the N-word in other parts of the country, then I felt it was worth sending a PM to let Throttle_Jockey know that someone could horribly mis-construe his words.
  10. Maybe. :D
  11. Maybe there's a way to put something like that onto a site like youtube and then link it? :hmm:
  12. how di you mistaken that car with the fuzzy pig lol :rotfl2: Javelin, Javelina,... I missed a letter. :D
  13. I got to touch it. :D
  14. I went halfway in my 88. I added a later model "open" radiator (one with a cap), but kept the rest of the closed system. Seems to work just fine and I have a radiator cap to fill through.
  15. I wanted to make sure I mentioned it if anyone else was thinking about going with a 242.
  16. I hate to burst your bubble, but it's a photochop. He did a few more variations on it too.
  17. If anyone is contemplating a 242 swap and are still running a CAD front axle, then you'll want to plan on permanently shifting the CAD so that it cannot disengage. If it lets go while in AWD mode, you can kiss your 242 goodbye.
  18. No doubt. I still haven't figured out why the search is so hinky. I've tried adjusting the settings with no luck. Maybe the next update will fix the software, Besides, if anyone gets tired of responding to common questions, they don't have to respond. Everyone's situation is different and I prefer members to ask their questions so that the answers can be tailored to the details at hand.
  19. We'll see how cool it is after you get third degree burns. Or when the fumes come wafting into the cab. :D
  20. You might want to post an ad in the classifieds. Plenty of us don't have inspections in our neck of the woods and I'm sure someone would be willing to help you out.
  21. If I needed to replace all that, I'd rater go buy a later model XJ front axle that was in better shape than mine and swap it in. Last Dana 30 I bought was about $150 complete and just needed a brake job. (the brakes will be different between an 88 and the last XJs so don't expect to reuse the 88's rotors etc.)
  22. Early MJ AX-5s were external, Later were internal.
  23. car-part.com may be able to help you out. Same with finding a Dana 30 with 4.10 gears.
