  1. I think JT was right the first time. She's looking to be paid in "services rendered". :brows:
  2. uh, yeah, i know, i was just trying to be funny.
  3. you can get an MJ w/4x8 bed, but there's no "M" in it, it's just a "J" truck :smart:
  4. ...........and then a third 2.5L built by Chrsler, also with different specs. I still think this is the engine that was in the Fuel Miser MJ because about that time Chrysler had the Omni Miser and I think a K car Miser pkg; point being that it would make sense to use the same engine in similar marketing rather than have to de-tune and AMC 2.5L. I could be completely wrong, because this was when Chrysler was struggling to survive and apparently didn't have the brightest bulbs in the house when it came to mgt at that time, but logic would suggest it makes sense, IMO.
  5. By "version", I meant just that, i.e. was THEIR 2.5 engine.
  6. Iron Duke was the GM version, correct? This is supposedly a chrysler 2.5.
  7. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8051 look about half way down......
  8. I was doing some quick research today to see what the HP rating was when the 4.0 came out in 87 compared to 88 and up. I had read that in 87 the 4.0 was 150hp, 88-90 177hp, and 91-92 190hp. Various info on that w/no confirmation, because I also found new info that basically said the 87 had 173hp and after a few tweaks in 88 it went to 177, w/torque also rising slightly. Anyhoo, I also saw that when AMC replaced the GM 2.5 w/their own, which was after they were bought by Chrysler if I am correct, that Chrysler also had a 2.5 rated at 100hp. I did not read the piece word for word from there to the end but I'd say it's a fair guess that's your fuel miser engine.
  9. Have you heard it run or driven it? That's the key. I bought an 88 MJ w/211k and while it could use a "tune up", it runs strong. Start it, drive it, go with your gut. Offer $900, get it for $1000-1100. If the rest of it is in good shape as you say, a donor motor from a wrecked XJ won't break the bank sometime down the road.
  10. XJ, I thought of $500 as soon as I saw yours. Now that you have seen each others, you guys related or something? LOL W/o question two of the nicer rigs on here. Nice work keep it up...... Oh, and XJ, you need to go look at $500's build thread. very impressive from what he started with.
  11. I think Mattracks are the coolest thing! If I lived in a snow belt I would take a 2nd mortgage to have a set. I saw a segment on one of the shows on Horsepower TV or something with a guy that had them on his built F250 diesel. Showed him just lettin' it eat out in the snow. Guy was rolling down a paved road and then just veered off in to a snow bank a 35mph. Freakin cool! http://www.mattracks.com/html/recreation_photos.htm
  12. Just thought I'd add to this, because it is an awesome thread that a lot of us did not know about. Below is a pic of the ashtray light, i.e. w/the blue cover. In addition, while i had the dash apart, i noticed there is a light that clips on to the cig lighter. it lights up a green glow ring around the lighter on the dash and also shines down in to the lighter socket to illuminate that. i noticed its the same assembly as the ashtray light, just a different end on it. and since i had just replaced the ashtray light, luck me, they came in a 2 pack, so now i'm just about all lit up. i still need to figure out the hvac light and i will have gone from completely dark at purchase in sept. to fully lit now. Sorry for the bad res on this pic, at night w/camera phone. I detached it from the lighter socket to show a little better. by the way, the bulb part # for the ashtray is an 1891, and for the kick panel lights is a 194. Hopefully I've contributed a little something here.......... Image Not Found Image Not Found
  13. ha! ha! yes it would be, yes it would................ now if it's the stadium truck, i'd pay a little more; the road course truck, maybe a little less, although it would be easy to turn it in to a pre-runner
  14. oh i'm sure it's true. probably has a little rust and runs decent, just needs a little TLC. And I'm sure for any of us to buy it, it would be $5k or more, but if you can prove you are a full time resident of Wisconsin you can drive it away for $2.39 :brows:
  15. hilarious on the tube comment, but in a weird way, it actually looks kinda good on the front. maybe because it's obvious it's not exactly built for looks. :brows:
  16. 495, nice work on the headliner/visors, especially the visors. Funny, I just swapped out some seatcovers also and took pics of all the same things you did for a DIY post. Now I don't have too! Ha! Thanks Yeah, MJs have that carpet patch because the vinyl would rub through and tear where they rub up against the back of the cab. Also, an fyi for anybody else doing seat swaps. The black tubes that hold the headrests can be different. On my 88 Laredo, I have the see-through headrests, so the end of the black tubes are open because the height of the headrest is less than a full cushioned one, therefore the posts go farther down. the seats i did some cover swaps with were from an 87 and the black tubes were closed off, so my headrests would not go all the way down on those. Fortunately, all I had to do was shred some knuckles and swap out the black tubes and I was good to go.
  17. I, for one, think that Taz offering his services is a super nice fringe benefit of being on this forum. And, that anyone who needs to try to get something thru a dealer shouldn't think twice about having Taz do the deal, even if it costs a few bucks more, regardless of the discount he is willing to pass on to us. To me, it's worth a small premium to know I've got someone that will do their best for me EVERY time and give me a straight answer on anything I ask. So Taz, I haven't had a need yet, but you'll be hearing from me sometime for sure. Hopefully others will do the same. Thanks again......
  18. Al Jr. did stadium racing in a Manche it appears. Cool! Ironic that Al Jr. became an alcoholic and drove a Strohs truck. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Notice Al Jr.'s name on the roof.
  19. did unser run a comanche on one of his pikes peak climbs??

  21. Wade, why would that sight blow you off? Weird. james, you can also try www.teamcherokee.com
  22. was curious mainly for if it would be a high demand re-sale off a parts truck. thanks for the info.......
  23. Hey Jeepco and 89, quit your bitchin, the fat sales at the PnP's are just how everybody outside of Wisco TRIES to maintain a level playing field with you guys on all of your $500 MJs and XJs you just FALL in to ALL the time. :laughin:
  24. uh, that's ok, YOU keep 'em. actually, give them to jeepaholic, they would be the perfect final touch on his current project :laughin:
  25. doesn't put much light out. also, it doesn't seem to have any backlight effect on the words on the controller. :hmm:
