  1. try the vin decoder on https://www.agedstock.com/main/vin.php?vin=
  2. Yes JT, thanks. What about the plastic latch knob to flop the seat forward?
  3. Dealer was the first place I called and I already knew the answer but gave it a shot. No dice. My company uses this locksmith a fair amount, so I haven't worked him on that number yet. But, he's a bit of an @$$ so at best he'd probably still hit me for $100. The guy I bought it from said he knows a guy that can pull an ignition for cheap, but he hasn't called me back yet, so I don't know what "cheap" is. It might be the same $100 if he knows what a locksmith would charge. So................Wildman, PM on the way! Hook me up brother!
  4. So the post holes should just snap apart and then back together when I put the cover back on? And on the latch "knob", I thought it might have a pin of some sort since it wouldn't just pull off, but I don't see one anywhere on it to be able to push it out.
  5. I've already got a new ignition, locks and keys on the way thanks to Jeepco. Already called a locksmith I've used for some rental property we own, but he's not helping me any at $150! That's why I'm hoping for some ingenuity here.
  6. Man, that thing really is sharp. And I just never get tired of those Baja wheels, even though they're everywhere.
  7. oh yeah, and sell your 2.8 to pay for your new 4.0............hell, you're home free! Dad will think you're being financially responsible when you spin his head with all of this! :laughin:
  8. man, i hope that j-truck isn't going to be your daily driver.....CHA-CHING. how 'bout this? negotiate the manche to $700 or less to be your better mpg daily driver. then go to the j-truck owner and offer him $1400 (or whatever you think it's worth + $200 give or take) for it. BUT, tell him you'd like to give him $700 now in exchange for the title and a notarized bill of sale (with details of the "payment plan") and then see if he'll give you 6 mos. before you come back and pay the rest. Or pay him over the 6 mos., whatever you want to come up with. Anyway, if he balks, tell him you'll sweeten the deal this way. If you don't take it in the 6 mos. or whatever time he agrees to give you, you get your money back but now he gets to keep the $200 premium (16% simple interest!) you were giving him to hold the truck. That way you're out no more than you would have been if you just bought the Manche for asking price. Then go get your job nailed down, save your money for 6 mos. and next thing you know you're Billy Bad @$$ with two trucks. Which of course means two titles, two trucks to insure...............and maintenance...........and etc., you get the idea. Just a thought.
  9. JT, that was the frickin bizz-omb! Cracked me up, funniest post I've read since becoming a member. And no words! Twisty, hell no! Don't go messin' with this thread and gettin' Eagle and the rest of us all worked up and spun around again! Besides, what's Eagle gonna say when he walks in: "Uh, yes sir, I've got this bootleg video game that my 12yr old step-granddaughter brought over from Chile, and she doesn't speak any english so I don't know what game it is supposed to be but every time I try to run it on one of our computers the screen just blacks out. So, could I crash one of your displays to try to get it to work?" Eagle, I hope no offense was taken in my little scenario there, none was intended, it just added to the humor in describing the scene IMO. Looky here Twisty, JT put the finishing touches on this pony and she's off to the glue factory! Let her die in peace! :rotfl2:
  10. so to jump in this lift thread, what is the simplest lift to meet the following needs: 1. Minimal off-roading, trail running and a little muddin' at worst. 2. Clearance for max of 31x10.5s. I happily have 30x9.5s now and would like to have just a little more stance in the future, with the option to go to 31s no problem. I only get rubbing on a full lock turn, so I should be ok there but from what I've learned here I would probably get a set of WJ control arms to go ahead and eliminate that when I get around to lifting it. 3. Cost. The almighty equalizer.
  11. Ok, so next tech question. I am getting ready to remove one of my seat covers, so while it seems simple enough, I thought I'd ask before I did it from those who have done it for any heads up on areas of concern and/or any tricks for stubborn areas, if there are any. I actually just need to change out the seat back, the bottom will remain. My main questions are how to remove the tubes where the headrest posts go and if the plastic latch to flop the seat forward just pulls off after unscrewing the trim?
  12. So #2 was bought w/out a key, no problem since the ignition turns. Well, while I was moving it the other day, I accidentally turned the ignition all the way back to the lock position. Doh! :wall: Does anybody have a quick solution for how to unlock the ignition w/out tearing anything up? I tried the key from my 88 thinking if the tumblers were that worn out I might get lucky, but no chance. I don't have a steering wheel puller or any other exotic tools, so I'm hoping for a shade tree mechanic suggestion so I don't have to spend much, if any $$ since I am getting ready to sell it. Thanks in advance for any help.............and please use the other variation of the KISS philosophy, K.I.S.C.I.A.S. That would be: KEEP IT SIMPLE 'CAUSE I AM STUPID :dunce:
  13. looks to me like they cut the frame, seems just a little too easy how it folded over and the bed/back end basically didn't even move.
  14. Eagle, let me get this straight, after 3 pages of posts and you making me and Badger almost go to Emoticon blows ;) , it's as simple as "it's a pirated copy from Chile, i'll just go buy her a legal one"? Everybody! Flame the moderator, flame the moderator!!!!! LOL :D
  15. With a little more googling, it appears a done deal on the H3 pickup, but as a crew-cab. Makes sense being that the H3 shares a ton of parts, and the motor!, of the Chevy Colorado. Plus, a crew-cab Hummer with a short box appeals to a much wider audience than just a 2 door pickup. Again, all that little bed will be used for is to haul some plants, maybe a little mulch and some lawn furntiure home from Lowe's. However, if they sell enough of them, hopefully they might green-light the 2 dr "real" pickup. http://www.leftlanenews.com/spied-humme ... otype.html
  16. JohnQ, I'm glad I just came across this and YOU had already posted you liked it first, maybe I won't get flamed for saying.........I love it. Definitely looks like an FJ more than anything, but I probably like it because I am a sucker for a cool looking show/concept vehicle. And Pat, I think the mfr's DO get it with this one...........i.e. that 90% of the people driving it are doing so because it says "look at me" and the only head that will ever be under that hood will be a dealer mechanic. Plus, I'm pretty sure half of that stuff will disappear if it goes to production. Speaking of, the concept "I" want them to build is the H3 based pickup. Now that thing was cool as hell IMO! http://www.thehummerexperience.com/Articles/2003H3.htm
  17. 88 4.0 w/211k runs great 87 2.5 w/230k runs but needs work. whoever buys it won't care because the rest of the truck is so so cherry
  18. I was helping a co-worker search out a good deal today and saw this one Eagle. Plenty of others I'm sure, but lots of speed and capacity on this one for under $400. It IS refurbished from HP though, so reduced warranty period. The other guys will have to comment on if the vid card is any good, but RAM, hard drive (including higher speed) other specs seem pretty good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6883107510
  19. Hmmm, well I can see where Sherman might send you the wrong item because they list both 84-96 Cherokee XJ series and 86-92 Comanche "XJ" series. I'd say a quick phone call to make sure they carry both products clarify. Confed, if you pursue these w/Sherman, keep us posted. I need to replace my pass floorpan soon. Thanks...........
  20. Wow This is great find! But the XJ/MJ floorpans should be the same anyway, correct?
  21. I thought the springs might have a different spring rate etc. vs. just another leaf in there. Except for the springs and coils, I have the other items through other packages. Trans cooler would be nice.........
  22. I've got the factory D44 and tow pkg, but no "Big Ton" setup, so my question is, other than an extra leaf in the spring pack, does anybody know what else came with the Big Ton Pkg, if anything at all? I also have the HD cooling and factory trac-lok rear diff, and off road pkg., so I'm assuming none of those did (I would have guessed HD cooling).
  23. I "THINK" bare metal cab was on the base units, then a vinyl covered panel and carpet covered as you went up i.e. pioneer, chief, laredo. What model do you have?
  24. "But Daaaad, Eagle started it when he said Badger was insulting first." Good thing this discussion is on the web and I can type while I choke on my crow here! Oh well, just like The Fonz, I can admit when I was wr, wr, wrrrr, wrr nnn, wrrrr, ..............uh, wasn't right. You have to admit, you must have laughed (ok, "snickered" and thought I was a Moe-ron) when I ended my post with, "maybe if you had said up front "I play a lot games and yada yada yada" your posts may not have been misinterpreted". Eagle, whatever Badger says, I'm with him. Anybody got any meat tenderizer and hot sauce, this crow tastes like $#!+! Man, I hope the real :brows: Wahoosteeler isn't mad when he comes back to the forum and realizes I jacked his username and made him look like an @$$!
  25. Dude, nobody needs thicker skin, that's how your response was interpreted, and we all know that's a difficult part of communicating without being able to hear a person's intent. Unfortunately your first response to Eagle did not defend or define what you were intending to say, i.e. that reading the box is all the "gamestop" employees would do. So before I go further, no harm done now that you've explained your comments. And, no offense, but all of your suggestions are no different than what has already been offered. IMO, what IS helpful is that I think you seem to be the biggest "gamer" of all those that have posted so far. FWIW though, maybe if you had said up front "I play a lot games and yada yada yada" your posts may not have been misinterpreted LOL.
