  1. Amazingly enough, shipping was only $9 +/-!! Couldn't believe it. Springs were $44.99 and w/shipping was $53 and change total. Oh, and don't know if it was a short term special or what, but you only have to order $50 of stuff for free shipping. Hmmmm, I hear a little devil on my shoulder whispering......"do it, do it, do it". $50 IS! friggin cheap for some quality AALs.
  2. Posted a search on automotix.net and already got a call. Guy said they were 4 leafs when I asked to confirm, then came back and said he had a 5 leaf pack too for $150 shipped. Didn't sound totally confident in what he was saying, plus I didn't clarify if that was for both packs. Just started looking, so like I said above, I'll be patient. Hell, RC AALs are only $50 shipped from ole JC Whitney. That's probably the best, and cheapest (since they are new) short term solution. Ahhhh, the choices and decisions to be made on such a crucial aspect of my day to day life, ha! :laughin:
  3. Yeah, figured the MT packs may be REAL hard to come by, but I'm patient :brows: Guess I'd want the coils too for that matter, since they had a different load rating than stock too, but I've been thinking that's where your ZJ V8 coils may be awful similar in load rating don't you think? I mean between vehicle weight and the V8, can't be too different.
  4. Yup, already talked to Jerry. Just exploring options for the back end before I head down to you for those spacers, ZJ coils and WJ LCAs with my (your) beer in hand! :brows: I really want the added load capacity on the back, so that's how I got to thinking of killing two birds w/one stone on the Big Ton packs. That being said, next time you're at the JY keep an eye out for me and I'll add to the beer payments for a finders fee! :beerhead: :D
  5. Yes, that helps. Looks like a good deal, but something I'll probably do a little further down the road as mine OE's don't seem to be sagging too bad for now. Still might try to find a pack of MTs here or in the JY and do an AAL or shackles for a cheap lift/payload increase.
  6. "....and the paint isn't chipped and the molding isn't cracked, and oh yeah, make sure they're tinted." TK, any other requirements? Dude, just busting chops but basically you are asking for new ones. You may want to lower your expectations a little. And for my speech, let's not ruin a good thing by hammering this guy with a million requests such that he gets sick of it and says screw it. Vent windows, IMO, are NOT that hard to come by. Super nice ones? Of course, but that's my point above. They can be found on ebay about once a month, and a WTB post here usually will produce a set fairly quickly. End speech. That being said, Bird, with your cost of parts nothing more than your time (which is still valuable), I personally have no problem with a price attached. Obviously you're a fair guy and a big fan so whatever you charge will likely be less than the avg. part, even with increased shipping expense it will probably be a good deal in most cases.
  7. Geo, nope, no desire to live there. Love my Shenandoah Valley Blue Ridge Mountains too much. And yet I can be at the beach in 3 hours too :brows: But I did "date" a little cutie from Madison, WI that I met when I was working on cruise ships years ago. I'm sure you were only kidding when you questioned if I hate you guys for all the crazy deals that seem to fall in your laps, but for the record I definitely don't hate you guys :D A lot of you make up the "core" group here on the club. I just love bustin' bawlz on all of you, especially cuz you all just roll with it
  8. With white, again, it will be significantly less noticeable than ANY dark(er) color. When I oversaw a 200 truck commercial fleet and I sold trucks off, the door logos showed little to no ghosting after removal from the white doors. Ever see a Penske YELLOW truck with the logos removed? And not just on the FRP box, I'm talking doors. BTW 89, I definitely like your "Eliminator" only sticker.......
  9. Let's ban him!!!! Dude, seriously, if you want to hear a bunch of grown men cry, post a better, and bigger, pic of the "before" truck. Truly a shame you didn't know what a find you had. After getting it running you could have sold it for $1-2k easy assuming your description is correct, and used the money to buy an already beat down trail rig. Hey, 99NCXJ has a clean BLUE PIONEER bed sitting in NC for $100(?). We can save you we can save you!! :laughin: By the way, where are you from? Please don't tell me your from Wisconsin Mr. "I found this cherry sitting in the weeds for $200".
  10. You're paint looks pretty good, and by being white, the ghost effect of your stripes will be reduced. It will be more noticeable where the letters were. But if you are worried about ghosting, and leaving on the "pioneer" stickers by themselves is NOT one of the options for you, pull them off first and see how bad the ghosting is. Some light rubbing compound may do the trick if it's really noticeable. If you pull the stickers, like MFpdm said leave the heat gun on low and keep at a distance. You want just enough heat to warm up the glue. Also, have a spray bottle of dishsoap and water and as you start to get a piece peeling away start spraying the slippery stuff liberally. WD40 would work great but you might blow through several cans as opposed to one bottle of $2 dishsoap. If you don't have a plastic decal applicator to scrape the stickers off, a plastic spatula with a thin edge works good. Oh yeah, and if you have glue residue still there after the stickers are gone, again WD40 works good and rubbing alcohol works really well too (they're both great on tree sap!!) Probably just told you a bunch of stuff you already know, but hopefully something helpful in my nickels worth above. :laughin:
  11. Ok, so follow-up questions would be: Hornbrod, where did you get NEW MT packs? And you're saying that they were std arch and gave you 3" of lift? Not doubting you, but don't you think that would be unlikely that back in the day when MJs rolled off the line that a MT sat 3" higher than non-MT trucks? Like Pete pointed out, which I hadn't thought of, it would seem more logical that since the pack probably has a different spring rating, Jeep was able to take some arch out and remain the same height. Otherwise, everybody on here would be fighting for MT suspensions for cheap lifts. Soooooooo, I suppose Horbrod is going to fill in the gaps on what I'm missing here. And, a little sag in the back shouldn't be so bad to level it off w/the front :brows:
  12. That ain't rust, that's just like what I call a good Weber grill that's never been cleaned...............seasoned! SWDeuce, I saw someone's rig lately where they left the letters but took off the stripes, i.e. opposite of what JT suggested. I like JTs idea but the one I saw with just "Pioneer" looked pretty cool too. Different for sure.
  13. Sorry I'm late to the party and missed starting up the Wisco cheap-a$$ beatdowns. :D 89, that was hilarious when you predicted the Wisco jokes coming. And Army already said it best. Oh, and Rocks, that wasn't harsh. Let 'em have it!! LOL
  14. they are legit speaker grills w/mounting holes back there. i think they will hold up to a 4" speaker, definitely 3" ones. I have 2" tweeters in mine, they were there when I bought it. The only bad part about tweeters there is they point down so you lose a lot of the effect of them because high frequencies are directional.
  15. Has anyone ever put an AAL lift on their Big Ton/Metric Tonne? Better yet, since the Big Ton pkg came with an extra leaf and beefier coils, does it sit higher than a stock MJ? I'm sure it's minimal if it does, but does anybody know? I would definitely like having the extra payload capacity and if the coils and springs from a Big Ton were to add @1" over my stock setup, I could just throw some spacers up front and shackles on the rear to get @3" front/2-3" rear don't you think?
  16. i think i'd like to see a blow up of it before you hacked it to death 'cause it looks like it was pretty decent!
  17. looking for a factory chrome rear bumber in good shape. free + convenience fee to you + shipping probably still cheaper than what they cost everywhere else.
  18. What weight oil? Mineral or synthetic? And what was the scent of the candles, "Nu Car Smell" or "Coal Burning Diesel"?
  19. So let's see it w/the new wheels and tires! I love the look of Baja Claws. How much are you asking?
  20. Nice truck, so did you rattle can that thing?
  21. Ha Ha Geo, the irony was intentional, hence the smiley! :laughin: And you missed where I did "spelt" for "spelled"............
  22. you got pics of your mj? just curious to see it. yeah, that XJs a winner huh?
  23. I particularly like the custom stereo speaker/dip can holder......... Damn I love back yard engineering :beerhead: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-Che ... 0211040847
  24. no, you are not alone............ http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8388
  25. $500, that's funny, didn't catch that because four words later he spelt it write :laughin: and there's nothing left to "collect" on that bed LOL! Wildman, I think it was just used around a farm or something, that's why it's a "pulling editon" :brows: And while I usually am willing to pay more than the avg guy around here, I think I'd offer about $100 on that one just so I could get those hybrid pulling edition springs off there (I DO really want those though). On second thought, I think I'll take this approach: "Hi, I'm from Wiscahnsin, and uh, yeah, I was wondering how much you'd pay me to take that truck off your hands? Did I tell you I was from Wiscahnsin? I'm friends with Pat and Wade you know, so you might wanna give that truck up before they come dahn here with their 50lb cheddar wheel and start crackin some skulls. Let me tell ya, it ain't pretty ". :rotfl2: Kenosha, water got in his brain. It rusted too!
