  1. You are going from 5.25" backspacing to 3.75" backspacing -- that means you're moving the tires out a full inch and a half. Yes, you will likely mash the front flares. You will also almost certainly have problems turn the steering wheel to full lock, because the tires will hit the flares. And a lift will NOT fix that.
  2. I would have said that it's impossible for the distribution block to not allow brake fluid to get to the front wheels. The passage goes straight through.
  3. Everything. And the flywheel. As others have commented, the 89 is Renix. The HO/Chrysler system was introduced in 1991 and it's totally different. The CPS operates on a different electrical principle, and the Chrysler ignition/EFI system needs to run with a corresponding flywheel.
  4. 2-door XJs don't grow on trees, so if you're willing to go through the effort, more power to you. The XJ only had one chassis and one wheelbase, so the floor pans and the headliner should be the same for both 2-door and 4-door. The floor pans are welded to the unibody "frame rails" with a series of spot welds, so you'll need to clean those up and grind the top flanges of the rails smooth before you start welding in new pans. You are looking at a lot of work, so I would advise making certain you can sort out any engine issues before you buy the floor pans.
  5. 18-inch tires? Stock tires are more like 28-inch. What size tire do you have? More importantly, what vehicle do you normally drive? The Jeep 2.5 litre engine is a good, solid engine but it's not a modern, overhead cam pocket rocket. It will never be "fast."
  6. Post split off, because it was posted to a ten-year old thread about a different topic.
  7. So where's the new truck? All I see is a gussied up Wrangler.
  8. The Renix system is not OBD1. It's not really OBD anything.

    Out of the loop

Truth. Naturally, my old generator crapped out during a previous winter storm. I had bought a new one, but the old one used a 3=wire hook-up, the new one needs a 4-wire connection. Once I awoke to the fact that the power company is in absentia, I made the wiring changes yesterday and fired up the new generator. Don't know if I trust it to be clean enough for a computer, so I'm on an old notebook with a cellular WiFi hotspot for Internet. The bad news is that my refrigerator was without power for about 48 hours. I'm trying to research how much I'm going to have to toss.

    Out of the loop

I'll be scarce for awhile. We got clobbered by that little tropical storm, and I don't see any signs of repair crews so I have no idea when I can expect electricity or internet again.
  11. I sure did -- the one in the photo, in fact. The vertical bypass passage wasn't drilled all the way up to open into the horizontal bore that the brake warning light shuttle valve slides in -- right where I put the red circle that's labeled "Emergency Bypass Circuit." I doctored the photo so it shows how the thing is supposed to work.
  12. Your signature says you have a 5-speed. There's no TCU (Transmission Control Unit) for a manual transmission. Your ECU (Engine Control Unit) is on the driver's side, above the gas pedal.
  13. COVID-19 isn't anything to take lightly. I'll say my prayers for you and your wife to not have any serious complications.
  14. The most certain cause is tire balance, but if you have had it for more than a month and you're only just posting about it, I doubt it's death wobble. As 75sv1 noted, death wobble is neither spooky nor annoying -- it's downright terrifying and, when it hits, you can't drive the vehicle. The ONLY thing you can do is stop the vehicle to make the shaking stop.
  15. Piece of cake. Where are you in New England? I have a bench seat in the basement that I wouldn't mind swapping for a pair of buckets and a console. I'm in south-central Connecticut.

    Is it one-way?
  18. Winters in the Portland area aren't at all "brutal." The ocean moderates things quite a bit. I spent one winter checking the climate around Portland when I was considering a relocation there. It's not significantly different from Hartford, Connecticut. Which, admittedly, isn't Florida, but you're going to find winter is more wintery just about anywhere compared to where you are now.
  19. Did you test the output of the new CPS?
  20. Either should work in a non-ABS axle. The ABS shaft should have a tone ring, and I believe the ABS shafts had the larger U-joints.
  21. IMHO, several of your criteria are mutually exclusive. You're going to need to prioritize. I'm considering Montana, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Wyoming, and [maybe] Idaho.

  23. Power steering pump, reservoir, and brackets. Air cleaner box. Distributor. Throttle body.
  24. What info at the bottom of what? If you created a signature ... you must not have saved it.
