  1. I'm in Waterloo, about two hours from Dubuque, and pretty much willing to travel to the ends of the earth if it means being able to finish my truck.
  2. Would you be able or willing to part with the whole head?
  3. turns out the reason the parts I bought from Jegs don't work is because they're for a totally different inline 6 jeep motor, not the 4.0... Jegs doesn't sell valve parts for the 4.0
  4. It's an 87 4.0, and I'm keeping everything on the valve train stock.
  5. 87 4.0L I'm keeping everything on the valve train stock.
  6. hey everyone I need some help finding valve spring retainers. I've posted an ad in the wanted section. I can't seem to even find a part number on the retainers, and I've bought three sets of keepers on accident. if anyone can help either by posting where yours came from, or a part number, or if you happen to have any extras I'd be eternally grateful. This is holding up my head being completed.
  7. Hey guys I am rebuilding my 87, and I can not for the life of me find valve spring retainers. I have been sent three sets of keepers. If you're selling parts off of your head it would be great if you'd let me know. I'm willing to pay whatever for a half decent set of retainers.
  8. My brilliant plan is to simply remove most, if not all electronics, because I've been chasing gremlins since I got my MJ.
  9. have any of you fellas or ladies bought valve stem keepers from quadratec? I just ordered 24 for $70, but they had no info. did I buy two sets? will they *actually* fit? (the set I got from Jegs wasn't right for MY valve stems) will they be decent quality, or will I be redoing my head/engine again minutes after I get it built? This is my first solo engine build, so I'm super nervous about every part I order, and I apologize about that.
  10. When I was in college myself and six of my friends folded ourselves into a 1960 Nash Metropolitan that my (college and current) roommate owns.
  11. I don't know if you've made a decision yet, but I've had a lot of success with Toyotas. Camreys and corollas are fuel efficient and inexpensive, and also very reliable, and if you're looking for a truck, the 22RE Tacomas are also stupid reliable and fuel efficient (for trucks).
  12. I'm back and full of nonsense again. I've bought a donor engine and transmission, which I just got back from being bored, honed, decked, magnafuxed, new cam bearings and frost plugs.. The works. I've decided to try to tackle the carb swap, and I am looking for my distributor right now. If anyone has done this with a brand new stand alone setup; how did it work? Was it a pain to build, any tips, and any links to specific stand alone distributors/ignition setups would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
  13. id hate to take a good one off the road for this particular project
  14. Located in Waterloo IA, and willing to travel about /10 hours
  15. I'm looking for a *mostly* complete Comanche for a project idea I have. don't need motor/trans as I'm intending to swap in a 4bt. doesnt have to be in any great condition. hoping to stay under $500, but would be willing to go higher. I'm in no hurry to find one at this exact moment either. Thanks.
