Well, if you define "long term" as six weeks -- yeah, it worked great.
-
That's a fair assumption but, before I try to answer, I'd like to understand what the problem (if there is one) really is. Making a pickup sit level when it's empty is not smart. That's why I asked.
-
What's not level?

After breaking two previous appointments, the cable company tech finally showed up at noon today (Monday). The problem was, as I pretty much knew, that the previous temporary repair had failed. It only took him 15 minutes to find the problem and fix it -- but I was out of service for six days. I'm not happy about that. So ... I'm back, until I'm not.

First step is to remove the bulbs and use a test light or multimeter to confirm that you're getting power to the sockets. If so, then check the grounds. How did you check the fuses?

leaf spring issue
Eagle replied to early comanche owner's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you lift the rear, why would the rear sit lower than the front? Do you have a taller lift currently? Also, what "pad" are you referring to? The plastic slider pads at the ends of the leaves? They're just there to avoid squeaks -- if that's all it is, you don't need them. -
By far the easiest and (IMHO) "best" swap for the '86 with a V6 is another V6 -- the Chevy/Pontiac 3.4L.

I hope all the Comanche Club family has a Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope you all stay clear of COVID-19.

That would work, IF the MyCloud were connected to the Internet. However, the Internet connection is down somewhere between the house and the street (or somewhere between the house and upstream, but if the outage affected the whole street I'm sure they would have fixed it by now.

Here we go again. Just before 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday the cable connection dropped out. Rebooting the modem didn't help and I know the indoor ethernet cabling is good because I was on-line when it dropped out. So it's either a bad modem or -- much more likely -- external. As far as I know they never made a permanent repair to the temporary fix from back in October, so probably that finally gave up. The earliest they can get someone here will be Friday afternoon so, until then, I'll be using the cellular mobile WiFi hotspot, and limiting my on-line activity to conserve my data plan. Question for those who know computers: I'm connected to the cable company modem and router by ethernet. When the external connection drops out, I can't access the mobile WiFi hotspot when I'm physically connected to the network. The mobile hot spot shows up and says connected, but when I start my browser it immediately opens the cable company's web page showing an inoperative modem and telling me that it can't connect. The only way I can use the mobile hotspot is to disconnect the LAN cable so I'm not physically connected to the router. The problem there is that I keep my files on a Western Digital "MyCloud" external hard drive array, to which I connect through the ethernet cable and the router. So if I want Internet I can't access my files -- if I want my files I can't have Internet. That can't be right. What do I have to do so I can have connectivity and still be able to access my files?

Yeah -- I have almost half as many as Pete
-
I know, Pete. I was specifically responding to the question about the dash plaques, hence my reference to the OP (Opening/Original Post).
-
But the OP doesn't have to convert anything. He can scan his plaques into JPEGs of PDFs. As JPEGs, he doesn't even need Photoshop -- those can be manipulated just fine in Microsoft Paint. Greg, I don't know if you're aware that Avery sells "labels" that are one label per 8-1/2x11` sheet. Staples probably has their quivalent for a bit less money. You could print them directly to the "label" and you're all set to apply the print to the dashboard.

Possible Comanche trans swap
Eagle replied to 242 kenny's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's a 4-cylinder. Do you know which automatic transmission you have? -
MJs, and XJs until 1999. In 2000 Jeep switched the XJ to a low-pinion Dana 30 in the front. TJ Wrangler front axles are all (I believe) low pinion). ZJ front axles are all low pinion.

Colorado red is red, it is not metallic. FWIW, Rustoleum red in the rattle cans is almost a perfect match for Colorado Red.

That's because the factory rear window -- fixed or slider -- is curved glass. ALL the aftermarket sliders are flat glass, so they can't possibly fit properly all the way around.
-
Considering that the factory rear windows only have a "frame" on the top and bottom, and the glass runs full-width and seals directly to the body on the ends, I don't think it's possible for any aftermarket slider to have more glass than the factory unit.

Yeah, I know about Starlink. Not available here.

A V8 Hemi Wrangler! From the factory (unless this video is a joke):
-
Use silicone brake fluid. It's non-corrosive.

Carbed 87 Comanche RENIX 4.0
Eagle replied to kaidenlem's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Heck, that would be a pretty slick setup today -- or tomorrow. You just have to remember to unlock the torque converter before you get to the stop light ... -
I don't think that's true for the masks most of us have access to. That's only true for N95 masks.
-
"But, but ... mah rahts! The gummint ain't got no raht ta tell me I gotta wear a damn mask!"

That's fine when you're just talking about them. When you become a supplier, you need to be aware of liability issues. There's a very good reason why the industry invented the term "show bar" and started using it instead of "roll bar." The reason is that some kids rolled a Jeep Wrangler that had a factory "roll bar" in it. At least one of the kids was killed, and the family sued Jeep because the so-called "roll bar" failed to provide roll-over protection.
