eaglescout526
Honestly. I don't know how these would compare to the JK shocks I have. Definitely a neat kit.

That’s awesome. This kit is missing it’s air lines but I’m sure those are just any off the shelf air line for air bags and such.
eaglescout526
Well....they ain’t Marchals but they are era correct. (To a degree). They were completely chrome but I took the front retainer off and painted them black. They aren’t too bright and don’t blind anyone in front of me. I like them. I think they are a fog light but they don’t act like a fog, more like headlight enhancers. They send the beam farther out and wider. I don't know much, I’ve never had fogs before, but I plan on treating them like a driving light.
eaglescout526
Not much of an update. Just replaced my front brakes. Oh boy was I living on the edge. 3 out of 4 were getting to bare metal. The last one was bare metal and made the passenger side suspension and knuckle look all sparkly with metal. Good job me not replacing what probably is 20 year old brakes. Rears weren't bad, replaced them last year but installed the shoes wrong. Went ahead and replaced them and hung onto the year old ones. New VS. Old: Something exciting is going to happen:
eaglescout526
Oh yeah. It sure as hell is gonna happen. Oh @88mjsally after getting those vents they went right to painting and I used my can of landau black interior paint(10 coats later) to achieve this: Old vents that came off and new that I bought and restored. Almost looks like NOS. Even put the foam on the back.
eaglescout526
I know now it’s not the level of expertise that is in Jeepdrivers build(will admit, his work has been inspirational), but for honest work and help from my neighbor who is experienced in body work and paint, I’ll be happy with the work I will have put in and appreciate the knowledge I have and will learn in the process. With out a further ado here is the progress.

buxmj
Looking great, way to go at it little by little instead of flying through it and regretting the end results, take your time and it will pay off!
eaglescout526
Well. She isn’t done yet. But damn does it feel weird to drive her and actually have a good looking paint job on the front. Yes I was allowed to drive her today, put all the front back together last night. Will continue sanding everything else. I will admit, it has its issues but for being done at home by someone who has done such for years all the while still recovering from a stroke is pretty impressive. I can’t argue as it is being done for the cost of myself doing all the sanding and stuff. For whatever reason she gives off a 50’s vibe. Maybe when I get the running boards back on that will go back to being the 80’s vibe.

It’s just under a pop up with a tarp on the side. For what it is it still comes out really good. As far as what is being used, I know it’s professional grade stuff from Sherwin Williams. eaglescout526
Thank you gentlemen. Hopefully I won’t have any distractions this afternoon so I can resume sanding. Now I do have a problem with the tailgate. It does work and all that but the bedside is dented inward. My original one, the inside is in great shape. I’m thinking about cutting that and welding the better shape back side into the old one. Yay or neigh?

eaglescout526
Well. The drivers side bed took me the whole weekend to sand. Got the decal removed with that rubber eraser for the drill. Dropped the trans and fixed my slave cylinder issue. Hate these things and how they pop out. I should be good for a while. Now what sucks is one of my fog lamps glass broke, so replacing that glass is like replacing a Marchal. Anyways the progress shall continue without this trans hiccup. eaglescout526
Damn. I really need to remember to take pictures of my progress. But I forget and am excited. All the sanding is done except for the upper half of the drivers side door. Once the passenger side is all good and painted, then the drivers side will be sanded and finished in one shot. Good news is there was not a single ounce of bondo anywhere on the body. Bad news is there is some body damage that just minor dents that were fixed using a stud welder and some bondo to fill in. Otherwise all rust has been addressed which there hardly was any for an AZ truck. Now to fix the tail gate and get that done up too.
