Registration Fees

CA is about that except for 2 years ago when I removed the shell from the back of the 88. The PO had registered it with a "permanent" shell, thereby qualifying as a passenger car. I removed the shell and had to get a weight certificate for the DMV and pay the commercial vehicle rate. That was about $150. I was going to complain but I had two other Comanches and didn't want to risk them raising my fees for the other two.

$22 in 'Bama for a normal renewal, but a custom "vanity" plate is an additional $50 annually. I had SOX WIN for a couple of years, but canceled it last year. Next year I'm thinking about a SOX SUK if things in Boston don't change. Classic tags here require a vehicle to be 30 years old.

Maine: A vehicle that is 25 yrs old and older can get Antique plates for an additional $15. Restrictions are super annoying tho. Vanity plates are an additional $25.

I registered my 88 with the bare minimun requirements. Excise tax is 5% of the paid of amt of said vehicle

Excise Tax $39.51

State Paid $35

Agent Fee $4

+ Excise Tax $50

Total $128.51

Edit: Vehicle registrations are good for 12 months.

Louisiana - Registration is good for two years. Regular truck tags cost about 64.00; custom tags are 100.00 plus the 64.00.

The cost is initally based upon what you paid for the vehicle, then after that it's what they say your vehicle is worth.

Couldn't tell you what the plates/registration itself cost, since I paid them together with the required insurance. Total rate per annum is $600. And that's in Manitoba, where we've got some of the lowest rates in Canada. I'd be willing to bet it would cost three or four times that if I was still in Ontario.

I'm on all-purpose insurance, since I drive it too far to get to school to be on basic insurance. It adds around $50/year.

I pay $86 every other year for registration. I have on a Pacific Wonderland plate which cost a one-time fee of $100. Other plates such as the Cultural Trust or Salmon plates have an additional $35 added to the bi-annual registration, but not the PW or Crater Lakes plates with the one time fee.

Screw the price, if its too much, just drive your MJ anyway. All in agreement say EYE!

The guy I bought mine from arranged the sale to take place at the insurance place, so he'd know everything got switched over... He left me with his plates, though...
