Butchershop
Someone on here once said "Comanches are like Lego trucks". Mix and match and build it like you want it. There are some very creative people on this forum and I have to think that talent along with an 'animal rescue mentality' has a lot to do with it. ...and maybe a little Dr. Frankenstein / Six million dollar man, too.... Geonovast
I think it certainly helps that even though it only sported a 7 year production run that ended 20 years ago, there's a huge pool of parts spanning decades and a large handful of other vehicles, with direct bolt on parts as new as 06. mnkyboy
To me the biggest thing is that they are different. I tend to like odd ball rigs.

I tend to like odd ball rigs. same here. i love when someone asks me about my 'cherokee truck', and i get to explain to them that they came like that from the factory. 88whitemanche
I just love the fact that people stare at my truck! I've had other people ask if I custom made the truck mainly younger guys but I've had a few older men ask me to sell them my truck....no way!!! It's my first jeep and I'm in love

64 Cheyenne
Always wanted to build something that wasn't "cookie cutter", after I lost my job and the bank took the Rubicon back.... Still wanted a Jeep so I started with a "poor mans Jeep" a 2dr XJ, then came across an MJ (the 88), I knew this was it for me. As stated before, the trucks are old, had a limited production run and have tons of parts and support. I told the GF about the person who wanted to trade a newer XJ for an MJ, told her that I was entertaining the idea, couldn't fool her, she knew that after all the time money and effort I put into the Chief, she knew that I'd never part with either of my MJs. And like my Harley, you just can't beat the "American made" "cool factor".

ParadiseMJ
I suppose I could have gotten any "old truck" to fix, build up, rebuild, but I'd had XJ's for a long time and I had always wanted an MJ...my friends, my wife, my kids think I should just get an F-150 or a Silverado and be done with it. But then all I'd have to do is get up, go to work, come home, go to bed, get up, go to... There is ALWAYS some little project to do on this truck...and I like figuring out problems and fixing them. What the hell do guys DO with their weekend and their money if they're not under their Jeep??? ...and then there's the back country...where a Super Duty won't fit on the trails. dasbulliwagen
I think part of what did it for me was www.comancheclub.com ! All the knowledge here, with all the little quirks our trucks present to us makes it the whole package. Thanks Pete!
86customanche
"Comances are like Lego trucks". Mix and match and build it like you want it. I like that. I also love the rarity. They didnt make them for long, but with the Cherokee being so successful for so long, there are lots and lots of parts for most of the truck. I always wanted a truck and I always wanted a Jeep, since all my friends had one, and now I have both in one vehicle and couldnt be happier. If I had some more time to work on it, I would be driving away from my wedding in it. The woman is actually part comanche indian which is very cool to have one of each. . :MJ 1: . Minuit
Comanches are something some people have never seen before. I get a lot of compliments. One person asked me if my truck was a 1967 model. Some people just don't know cars.

I never new there was a MJ Comanche till after deciding i needed a new 4X4 ute ( pick up ). Love the look/style of my 99 XJ and always thought it would make a great pick up. Goggled jeep pick up found Comanche Club, and from that monent started putting thing in place to buy and import my Comanche. Have loved every minute of the MJ addiction. NHMJXJ
4.0 4X4 Fun! I bought my first Jeep (XJ) in 94 and instantly loved it ... sadly, my x-wife got it in the divorce. Sure do miss that Jeep. I've had many makes and models since, but I've returned to XJ and MJ, and everything is right with the world.
Minuit
Another thing I'd like to add is that a properly equipped MJ can do almost anything you can ask from it that doesn't involve the word 'passengers'. People don't expect a little old truck to be as fast as ours are, nor do they expect our 'little old pieces of junk' to haul just as much if not more than some trucks made today. My seat is even comfortable, too. It's not every day that you find a vehicle like that that's old enough to drink.

My seat is even comfortable, too. It's not every day that you find a vehicle like that that's old enough to drink. That. Maybe it's my first real experience with 4x4, but apart from two instances, one where I was sitting on a stump (result of the truck being faster than I expected the day after I bought it) and the other where I blew apart a 300k mile u-joint, I've never had any issues getting out of where I got into, including parking in a foot and a half of snow in a ditch. I've shoved snow around with my bumper, what have you. No issues. Yesterday, I tugged a Camry out of a parking spot in our lot where it was sitting snowed into a seriously dense drift that formed around and under the front end. Four guys couldn't even budge it. My MJ's first "real" work under my ownership, and it handled it like a champ. 4lo reverse at almost a 90 degree angle (parking lot constraints) with the wheels cranked, and I barely had to touch the skinny pedal. Yeah, it may look like (and might well be) a pos, but it's my pos. And it earns the love.
1989 Eliminator
The fact that you can say your a true jeeper and yet your drivin a sick truck you can build/modify anyway you want. I mean there is absolutly no better feeling than pulling up to a muddin spot when EVERYONE is looking at you with the only Jeep Comanche there. Everyone stops and looks and come to talk with ya about it. It is just a badass truck. It also will probably do better than any other truck there. Not only muddin, I get people while I'm driving flag me down or givin me the thumbs up. Practically checkin out my truck instead of watching the road.
