mvusse
Replaced a broken wheel stud, then followed two full size chevys (35s and 38s) around some local property. Yeah, I got stuck. So did the 38s in the same spot a few minutes later :rotf: Lost my passenger side rear view mirror on the freeway somewhere on the way back home  Tomorrow I'll get her ready for Badlands, then hopefully Thursday I will have time to check the local (new!) pull-a-part for a new mirror. If not it'll have to be Friday morning before I leave.

It's just that I have one twenty minutes from my house now, instead od an hour and twenty minutes. Truck's all packed up. As soon as I finish breakfast I'll be on my way to Badlands. dasbulliwagen
Cash for clunkers has allowed me to snag a few more parts for the old 87. I got a sway bar off of an XJ country. I got the rear bumper too to see if I could make it fit the comanche. I know its not a bolt on, but I like the look better than the step bumpers. I also took the trailer hitch off that XJ (XJ number 5 from our dealer that has been turned in for CFC). I also took the visors and clips, the rear overhead speaker bar. I also took a trailer hitch off of a ZJ cash for clunker turn in. I plan to see if I can make a trailer hitch between the two of them to fit my truck, at the same time as fabbing the cherokee bumper. This is all in addition to the Wagoneer front end including doors with power windows, locks and movable vent widows, chrome front bumper, radio, cig lighter, clock, seat belt ( to fix my broken one ), skid plates and overhead console. Ive got some work to do! I also bought a 2.5 longblock from the classifieds here for a future rebuild. Ive only been into the Comanches for two years now and now Ive got parts coming out my ears. History is repeating itself I guess... 10-15 years ago it was Volkswagens... everywhere! Theyre getting too expensive now, and working at a Jeep dealer I guess has its perks for my current infatuation!
Windowsrookie
Replaced the valve cover gasket. What a disaster that was, while putting the valve cover back in it snagged the coolant line, tearing a hole in it, dumping coolant into the top of the engine... mvusse
Axle out, other axle under, up, down, out, under, and after jacking the truck up and down more often than I care to remember, as well as jacking the axle up and down numerous times and bolting the wheels on and off I now have the Pig's new axle in the back of the Cherokee, spring perches and shock mounts tacked in place, ready to have them burned on permanently. mvusse
Got the perches and shock mounts burned on permanently, had new u bolts made, and started to install the axle. I then decided I was going to use Cherokee spring plates I will get at pull-a-part tomorrow, and that's as far as I got because of my daughter's volleyball game (followed by ci ci's pizza )

comanche09
Pulled off the valve cover today to address my blowback issue... first time its been pulled in 21 years apparently (PO bragged about using Slick 50 since 1989.... :ack: ) Holy SLUDGE batman  though I figured as much just from looking in through the oil cap. After spending about 2 hours with the shop vac mini tools I got the valvetrain somewhat cleaned up :wall: Really gave my shopvac a workout. Looked at the original valve cover, laughed and tossed it in the garbage. Nice clean '94 HO valve cover, new Felpro Permadryplus gasket ($40 but worth every penny) and new air filter installed  Hopefully my blowback problem will be solved (clogged back line)... AMCJeepMJ
Today, I put in: - installed a fresh wiper relay - installed intermittent wiper module - replaced the right outside mirror - installed a rear cabin carpet panel below the back window All thanks to the local salvage yard which had freshly acquired Cash 4 Clunkers Cherokees... and one beat to hell Comanche. mvusse
Time for an upgrade! As for me, I made some brackets for the brake hoses coming off my new rear disc brakes, and plumbed the brake lines back in. For the moment I'm using the old lines, which are quite a bit too long now. Will have to get some shorter ones in the near future.
