RochesterMJ
Changed out the wheels/tires. As Bought: (235 75R15's, spray painted steel wheels with a flat Jeep center cap) Now with 31x10.5 15's on powder coated Grizzly's (pic also shows addition of a 3" lift - mostly seen in the front, rear didn't come up much). Need to space out the rear wheels to keep em off the frame. Hitting the lower control arms in front, had to adjust the steering stops - gotta love PB Blaster
mvusse
Spliced fuel pump assembly wires the CORRECT way (not twisted together with duct tape like the last person), reinstalled it, removed it, primed the pump, reinstalled it again. Then I took it to the gas station, filled it up and drove it home.
skidoo_j
Installed upper control arm bushing in front axle. Installed jks adj Upper control arms. Installed Acos by jks set caster to 6.5* installed new shocks Still need to zip tie the wires and tighten the shock bolts before test drive. Will set toe once on ground. Hell of a lot of work to go up just under .5", however the acos will allow me to adjust for a winch and keep my steering perfect and the lift the same. Will be replacing u-joints in my new to me auto front axle. In a few days. Tips or others: I put the new upper axle bushings in the freezer overnight. Makes the rubber hard so there's less give when pressing them in, also rubber and steel will shrink when cold. Get two sets of spring compressors and compress both sides at once. Makes it very easy and problem free when adjusting control arms for caster. Snug them up when truck is on springs, jack up body and the axle is free to move no need for prying on the axle... Zenobian_84
Finally got tired of procrastinating. Accomplished a lot of different things today. :wrench: One of the few things was finishing the other door panel. Now I finally have a 100% matching interior. mvusse
Replaced the Purple People Eater's serpentine belt. Noticed Wilbur's fan pulley has play in it.
skidoo_j
Drained the tranny and swapped amsoil SVG 75w90 gl5 for Redline mt90 because of the possible deterioration of the brass syncro when the tranny fluid gets hot. I got the redline mt90 due to availability as I nolonger have a local amsoil dealer, otherwise i would have bought some amsoil MTG. I was rather surprised how dark the fluid had become in under 4k miles. Hopefully the GL5 was not in there long and hot enough to cause damage. I do have to say, even though most likely the placebo effect, it shifts better and smoother. Also pulled the fan clutch yet again because I finally got the replacement pulley. The old had a pretty significant tapper worn to it. Now my belt does not appear to walk at all :) Now it has a new fan clutch (zj), new fan drive pulley(crown 53010309AB), new fan pulley bearing, and serpentine belt, new idler pulley, new a/c pulley. The list goes on and on and on. All that's left now is: Install the new universal joints in the front drive line. Obtain a longer slip yoke and paint the truck and line the bed. mvusse
Pressed fan bearing out of the newer style bracket off the parts XJ, pressed it into my older style bracket, put truck back together. All fixed. Had me puzzled for a while. On the older style brackets it pressed out the front. Turns out (after I broke the bracket) on the newer style ones it is supposed to come out the back. Minuit
As far as I know it's not too bad in Nashville - it's just a nox test unless something's changed. Ordered my new oxygen sensor to fix some misses and my horrid gas mileage (11 mpg last tank... my foot isn't THAT heavy!) :wrench:

relyt120
Are they strict out there? I have nothing to compare them to but we do have a cat requirement and the tailpipe has to be "easily accessible" both of which were an issue, even though I passed last year with no issue. I didn't realize I had no cat, seeing that I passed before I figured I did and never really checked or noticed. So I grabbed a new tailpipe, cat, and muffler and will throw them on tomorrow morning. Also today I dropped off my fenders and tailgate to the guy doing my paint, taking the bed as soon as he has space for it, then the hood, and finally the rest-gotta daily drive it so piece wise is the best option. Feels good to get the ball rolling.

Either way, much quieter and legaller.
