Actually got my rear bumper installed that matches the lines of the front. And i'm surprisingly happy with how they turned out. They don't look too home made, the rear looks almost professionally done.

I did learn that if you're cutting rustoleum paint from the quart use acetone during cold/mild weather. We used mineral spirits and it took almost 24 hours for it to get dry to the touch. I contacted rustoleum and they informed me that mineral spirits increase dry time, but also allow the paint to float more evenly...

here's pics of the installed bumpers... Next to paint the truck... viewtopic.php?f=7&t=35272&p=349156#p349156

Went wheeling last Saturday at Calico Ghost Town. I was the trail leader and my tailgunner was another John in his MJ with Volvo portal axles. And we had 13 XJs in the middle of the pack.

Finally got it in my garage, going to start "tinkering" with this week. First thing on the to-do list is sort my brake issue, one wheel is sticking on the passenger side. Next on the list is electrical bugs, the radio and gauge lights worked until I tried to get the dome lights to work...

I just want to keep in usable until I finish some projects around the house then I will start the 4wd/4.0L swap, I still have not decided to do the trendy 97-up swap or keep it old school.

Put 350 miles on it this weekend driving to the junkyard and back then to the movies (The Avengers was awesome btw) and to the gun range. Oh, and "watched" 3 movies while doing it! comanche.gif

Swamped the engine, changed air filter, oil and oil filter, covered it in mud and broke the passenger side front side marker light.

Not necessarily in that order.

finally been getting to drive it around since the open system swap. everything seems to be good to go. loving the sound of the mud grapplers even more. i often have my head out the window just to listen to them and a few people have come up to me and said they thought a plane was flying by until they saw (heard) me pass :D :rotf:

In all I think it was about 3 hours.

Actually took me 3 days because I only have some much time per day to work on it .

If you need tips i will gladly share with you . :wrench: comanche.gif

replaced the door latch in dads MJ, removed the front axle from the XJ donor. power washed the axle, poped the cover off drained the fluid, cleaned it with brake cleaner, inspected the gears (looked good) refill and re sealed the diff.

found out that if you leave the control arms and springs on the front axle it makes a cheap axle inspection stand
