  1. More than likely the spider gears let go. I don't remember when MJs went to C-clip shafts but yours is probably a one.
  2. I can't say I agree with this. Although it may work, and work well. I don't think putting antifreeze in the drain is ecologically sound. If you get caught you will probably get a pretty nice fine too.
  3. No 4.0L in an '86? :brows: I beg to differ... hahaha... My 86 has a 5.2!
  4. It is at least an 87. There was no 4.0 or short bed in 86.
  5. That was always one of my favorite trucks on here. The white and black just looked good together on it. Then you had the bed built and it looked even better. Glad to see you are looking for another one!
  6. I did the write up. It is here... http://comancheclub.com/topic/15375-making-zj-or-wj-seats-tilt-forward/?hl=tilt+forward
  7. Please don't cut that truck up! That is a really rare truck. You should find a SWB MJ as a wheeler.
  8. You could have pushed it in too far. Catch all that ATF+4! That stuff is $$$$$
  9. I'll just leave this here... http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f125/greasing-a-sanden-335538/
  10. I had the same isssue with my 04 WJ's 5/45RFE trans.I changed the fluid and filter but I used a cheap autozone flat filter and it would stall (one time, once a day) at the first stop light. It took me weeks to put it together that the filter was the cause. I bought a NAPA gold filter for it and it has been flawless ever since.
  11. Truck looks good Jay! Anyone else notice the two 5.9s in the background! You lucky SOB!
  12. Pat, What about a rust free, low VIN, Magnum swapped and lifted 86?
  13. That is a mid year 86 vin. The lower the last six numbers the earlier the truck.
  14. What's the vin Jim?
  15. My 87 Ranger had them stock. They lasted a week until I got new ones. I'm not a big fan of them. The hub hole will be too small for a MJ and will need to be opened up.

  17. Take the top of the line 2001 XJ, lets say a Limited with the Up Country package and put it up against the Cherokee TrailHawk and I think the new Cherokee will walk circles around the XJ. The TrailHawk was sick! Locking rear diff and all. The guy I talked to runs a JK that is setup to run in the rocks and he loved the TrailHawk. He took one to MOAB and JV and said he was really impressed with the out of the box performance. Now price for price you can build one hell of a XJ for the $30K sticker price of the TrailHawak.
  18. I went to a local fair here in South GA last night and the guys from Jeep had a few of the new Cherokees here. It is a really good looking rig! The TrailHawk version is pretty sweet! I got to talking with one of the guys from Michigan, He is an MJ guy. I plugged the club and Pete's MJs for sale there in SE Michigan. He said he would check out the club and whatnot. I also tried to get him to pull the Thunder Cheif out of hibernation for us!
  19. It is a mix of parts, First Gen Rockkrawler LAs RockKrawler shackles RE TB brace Rancho coils You will need the axle too. The upper arm mount is welded to the spring seat and RK does not sell them any more.
  20. I choose to build a fast 4 holer Dodge. When was the last time you were in a 11 street car that still got almost 30 MPG? Add to it that my car is rare (only 445 garnet and silver 87 Shelby Chargers produced) it was a no brainer for me. I prefer to be different. I can build a V8 all day and run it. It's still a V8. Pull up to the line in a little Dodge econobox and whip a Musclang or a Vette and people notice. It's even more fun to do it in a Caravan. Yes Dodge put turbo 4s in minis too. I have always been one to follow my own path. Do I have way more money in a 4 popper than I should? Oh yeah, and then some. I don't care either. My cars are a labor of love for me. I build what I want. I took one of the first MJs known to exist and put a V8 in it. Because that's how I wanted my truck. The import guys are the same way. They build what they do for the love of the chase. The R/D that goes into those cars is nothing but impressive. While I hate tuner imports I still give Steven Papadakis his props. He is the Godfather of import tuning and has spun a whole new realm into the drag racing world. You can't say those cars aren't impressive. Two liter motors dropping 800 ponies is cool.
  21. I've been playing with boosted 2.2/2.5 ChryCo 4 poppers for years. I run 22 PSI through my 2.2 engine. The Honduhs have a much bigger aftermarket than the Mopar 4 holer crowd does. With that said, they can get blocks, heads, pistons, cranks, and cams until their hearts are content. While I have to depend on what basically Ma Mopar put out in the 80s and 90s stock. There are some forged cranks and rods that were factory depending on the application. There are also DOHC heads available as well. The Neon DOHC swap is real popular as of late on the 2.2/2.5 engines. I have been to a few Honda shops and have seen the R/D that goes into those little motors and it is awe inspiring to say the least! I have seen everything from one off cast blocks, to sleaved blocks, to 1" head spacers welded to the blocks with sleeves to contain the boost. The crarks are works of art as well. Some of those little 4 banger engines can cost as much as $25K! Those are full on drag motors though.
  22. All you have to do is notch that bracket with a grinder so that rib fits through it. I did it with my truck when I had the solid covers.
  23. I have an 05 LJ with an auto I just bought. While I love being able to drop the top and cruise it makes for a horrible DD. The ride sucks and it gets horrible mileage. It gets on a good day 16 mpg. If you want a topless Jeep to play around with get it. If you want a good DD that gets good mileage look elsewhere. A TJ is not it.
  24. He sold about a dozen of them off earlier this year!
  25. Check the ground behind the divers side tail light. Clean it up and reground it.
