Looks good but you keep saying the 86 auto is a 727 and later call it a 904. "and the 3-speed TorqueFlite 727" Also an easy way to tell a SWB from a LWB is the fuel filler door is centered between the cab and flare on a SWB and really close to the flare on a LWB. I see people all the time confusing the two.

Help With My 97+ Dash In My 88
shelbyluvv replied to Dkfiii88manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sounds like he just put the dash in and did not change any of the wiring to 97. You may get lucky and be able to put a stock dash right back in it. I bet he hard wired the blower motor on the firewall side and not inside. The signals staying lit is probably bad grounds or bad sockets in the front. It sounds like a pretty easy fix to me. With that said I have done a 97 conversion and a V8 Magnum swap so wiring does not scare me. -
Opinions On Fender Flares Pics Wanted

I specifically asked Doug at Napier about the flare not coming all the way down. He made them that way on purpose. I believe he said it was for rock rail clearance. -

My girl is here just as much as I am. She loves having a house plant or two around the "house". She bought a nice little plant to put above the medicine cabinet in the bathroom but there was not enough room. Using the parts from the cabinet I tore out I made a little corner shelf for her plant to sit on. -
I agree Jeff. The newer cars have an IOT that will shut them down after a few minutes with the key on.

You need start a build thread in the projects section. Be a pillar of the community and all around good guy. The Mods and Admins "vote" for the MJOTM winner.

88 Comanche Vs 86 Comanche

The VIN can tell us a lot about the truck. Normally the XLS has the chrome trim parts. -
'86 Comanche Purchasing Advice
shelbyluvv replied to Dillithium's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The 86 is not a bolt in affair for the 4.0, there are a few members here who have done the 4.0 swap. for the ammount of work it takes to get a 4.0 in a 86 you can put a 5.2 V8 in it. -
Also make sure the line has not popped off the vac ball behind the front bumper. It will be on the passenger side.
-
If you put a FailSafe thermostat in it, it may be going bad. They are designed to fail in the open position.
-
They are nothing more than black "rock crawler" wheels painted white. I'd love white wagon wheels but nothing is out there in a 17" wheel. I can't run anything smaller because of the size of the stock brakes. Don, I know you do. I may just use Plasti-coat so I can take it off.
-
Thank you sir. I may use a set of black d window wheels and make them white. The bumpers will get done in white. I like the look. John, it is on the MJ sitting in the garage here in GA. I did get a chrome roll bar so I may put it up for grabs one of these days. Same price I got it for of course. FREE!

Can someone please make my bumpers and wheels white? I am curious to see what it'll look like before I spend the money to power coat them.

They just moved to a new building. They should be getting back into full production this month.

88 Comanche Vs 86 Comanche
shelbyluvv replied to ckjeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What is the VIN? -
For that... $500 max. I have bought them for $150-$300 numerous times with tires and were a set of 5. Like Johnny said. They are not gold. You can pick up a set of knock off Moabs and Treadwright's for less than that.

2008 Pilgrim Cirrus Camper
shelbyluvv replied to shelbyluvv's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
I do a lot of cooking and the light under the cook top hood was not up to the task. It was entirely to dim.Shelby and I made a trip to Napa and I found a trailer utility light for $8.00. It was installed and the results were worth every penny! Counter space is at a premium in a camper. I got to looking around on the web and I found a counter extension for about $50. I know that I can do it cheaper and better. I picked up some hinges and these nifty little drop table leaf supports for $13 shipped. I saved the old counter top from the cabinet I tore out earlier on. Using the parts I bought and saved, I was able to make this, Push the drop leaf supports in and the extension drops down. The blinds in the master did very little to keep the light out. I like to sleep in on my days off. That was next to impossible with the amount of light that came through the windows. I moved the dividing curtain in the master to close it off better. By relocating it I did not need both curtains any more. I cut up my extra curtain and used iron on stitch and Velcro to make drapes. and a cover for the door going into the master. This $5 mod made for great sleeping weather! The faucet on the sink did not have a sprayer. This can be a real PIA when you have to wash big pots and pans. I get to searching for a new faucet and they are not cheap! I finally found one on Ebay for $37 shipped. -
I recently bought a new to me camper. While Pilgrim did an amazing job setting the camper up there is always room for improvements. My first mod was moving the light switch in the bathroom. It was originally about 4 feet to the right. Directly above the sink. After reaching over to turn on a switch that was not there about 30 times I had enough and moved it to where it should have been in the first place. Beside the door. If you look through the toothbrush holder you can see the cover plate I made to cover the hole where the switch was. The next thing to go was these two rocking chairs and the little platform they were sitting on. I also ripped out the right side cabinet. I took the cabinet out to make room for a full size sofa sleeper. I added the Marine Corps blanket to tie the green and brown into the campers decor. That's great you say. But, you just lost valuable storage by tearing out the cabinet. Not so fast. What do we have lurking under the couch? Ahhh storage! While living in the camper I noticed the heat was always on when it got chilly out. Maybe because there was no carpet. A trip to Lowes and I found a 8x20 remnant in a very nice beige that ties nicely into the campers colors. The cold linoleum floors. The new carpet laid down. Not a bad look for $80! My assistant (my daughter Shelby) crashed out on the couch. She was awesome with helping me measure and cutting. I knew going in that I was not going to have carpet in the bathroom. But you can't have a nasty transition from carpet to linoleum. Shelby picked out a really nice brushed nickel transition plate. It matches the rest of the hardware in the camper perfectly.

Seats! Who Has What In Their Mj
shelbyluvv replied to farmerjohnson's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
John, those seats are in my white Dodge. The one I hauled the shell home in. The one we had to take the shell off of to put the MJ SungTop in. My Dodge is an ST (base model) with vinyl floor, roll up windows, push locks, and had vinyl seats. Because of her being an ST the center console does not open up. The higher end trucks have opening consoles. I am not sure if a laptop would fit in it or not though. Bo -
The late 96 and later 231s had sealed output housings. There is no SYE on that case. It simply has the sealed output housing. The older cases sealed on the driveshaft slip yoke.
