Fuel Issue-Running Rough And Stalling While Driving
mountainman replied to marie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My condolences. Uhm, if you brought down the HC ppm that far thats pretty damn clean, next step is....your cat converter is prob toast. Is it new? has it been tested? If not, best bet would be to put on a new cat and youll pass with flying colors. Also if your worried, have it flanged at both front and back and have them make you a "test pipe" with same flanges. Then after smog take the cat out and put the test pipe in. Then work on your tune and system till your confident you have it 100% and its getting great mileage and has no issues. Then either save the cat for smog time again, or put it back in and leave it in once its dialed. With a good working cat youll have VERY low HC showing on the machine. The cat scrubs off anything left over that the engine couldnt burn. Thats its job. Do you have the CO readings handy?- 76 replies

Common place event. I build imports for most of my living. Thats what pays for my jeep. :) While its not cheap to make 1000 with a 4 cyl, its not hard thats for sure. You can watch vids all day long of 1000+ hp imports. Awesome stuff. Its super bad @$$ that they made that much HP back 30-50 years ago with not nearly the tech we have now.

Jurassic thread bring back! id say you get to determine how long the arms are. Cause youll be the one deciding where to put the rear connecting points in. You can tie them into the cross member like clayton and others do, and then take measurements and make your arms. Or you could move the buckets forward and mount em wherever you like. Whatever you do you get to measure and make the arms the proper lengths. I personally like the clayton long arms the best after looking at them, how the setup is designed and seeing reviews from a ton of people on them being used in all scenarios. So maybe copy their setup and smile. :)

It does come up as a classic on every site you estimate it on..... :dunno: This same sentiment used to be common for vw buses 15 years ago. we used to get them for free and cut them up, give them away. Now you have to be a baller to own ONE let alone two or more. Manches will be there in the next 10 years.

A good bumper shop can dial that right back in. Its only metal and it bends easily with the right equipment. For sure... DO NOT throw that one away. In a few more years people will be scrambling to get this stuff to fix.

Extremely Rusted Floor, Suggestions Please!
mountainman replied to darkenfire's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I say 3 options. #1 ...IF.... you do metal work and can weld, then cut it out and do it the right way. #2 if you can't weld, get the replacement panels or cut them out of your donor and then hand it to a hot rod guy. Someone who understands metal and can get it done. Can also speak with some local good body shops for some quotes. #3 test it, is any of it paper thin? if its pretty solid and you want the quick fix for now... do the POR15 treatment. Clean well, treat and kill the rust, then lay in THICK coat of their rust killing paint and put it all back together. At least till you can come up with the funds to meet the quotes given in option 2. Hope this helps. :)- 41 replies

Are the rear shoes adjusted up to where they should be? also.. how much fluid do you get at each wheel when bleeding? May just be the new master is bad as was mentioned. Pretty rare deal but it happens. I like to open all the bleeders..and sit and just pump and pump and pump till all of them are squirting strong. Then i close the fronts and pump some more, then the rears. Then i move to standard bleed procedure. Is the master cyl rod adjusted properly? Hope you get it dialed.

I dont know wtf is wrong...
mountainman replied to relyt120's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sounds like an overfueling issue. When that happens you will wash down the cylinders which dillutes the oil film that is always on the cyl walls, causes big white billowy smoke to pour out. For instance, last one that did this i just fixed. Was a 95 camaro, he lost his fuel pressure regulator and it was just pouring fuel down the regulator hose into the manifold. Car died and caught fire underneath. (raw fuel pouring out of exhaust joints). Could be your issue, or you may have an injector harness shorting causing the injectors to go full pulse width and flood your motor with raw fuel. Next time it happens.. pull off the road immediately. Then pull all 6 spark plugs and lay them in order. find the one thats fouled, or if its ALL of them, youll know which direction to go. :) -

OHHHH man. I'm trying to hold back. lol. It all starts with the march toward socialism that started in this country right after the great depression. Which was a planned event to usher in social control so the bankers could make even more money and have more power. As soon as "social security" was passed... it was the beginning of the end. Then welfare and medicare and the list goes on. :fine print: The more "handouts" the people are given, the lazier they become. A proven outcome of socialism/communism/fascism. Which have ruined every country they have been deployed in. Doing nothing more than feeding off the fears of the people to pad the pockets of the big bankers. federal reserve? what is that? its not federal at all. Its privately owned and has ruined our country. Thank FDR who during this same terrible time period, took us off the gold standard effectively handing over the injured cat to the rabid pit bulls. :fs1: Until we rid ourselves of this oligarchy and toss the federal reserve... we will never have the prosperous great country we once had. :soap box:

agreed 200%... our energy needs aimed at the proper places though if we are to fix this. The big banking cartel that runs this country and the world needs to be toppled. amazing documentary that puts it all in perspective. 2 parts. awesome info to research and digest. http://blip.tv/veritas08/part-1-ring-of-power-1-58mins-854220 http://blip.tv/veritas08/part-2-ring-of-power-159-min-852639

Mj 4.0 Gas Mileage Questions.
mountainman replied to Chief Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
this post makes me feel lucky. :) i get 500 to a tank on road trips. In the city i don't ever calculate cause it won't ever be the same twice and i do like to feel that 4.0 power each day when going places so ill stretch her legs on out to almost 5k rpm before i shift. But my avg in town is usually 190 to half a tank. 23.5 gallon tank. Gas light? what is that. lol. -
Could Use Your Guys Advice
mountainman replied to Garvin's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Its only metal, cut and weld and you can put it back together. They arent making comanches anymore so scrapping you will regret down the road. Even if it donates the good stuff to a pristine one and is kept and used as a truggy, it will still be alive and saved. -
could have a lot of good parts. Maybe has a D44, maybe its 4wd. id go after him and go have a look. If he flakes a 2nd time, full scam shady. Then id bail. Take your gun with you.
