  3. renix sucks. toss everything renix and put in all HO. transfer everything from HO vehicle. lol Thats my not renix friendly response. ;)
  4. Damn.. rough times with the grandparents. my condolences. What oil are you using for break in? I may have missed it if you listed it. I just went through your thread quick and am diggin all the work you did. Very nice man. :)
  5. Jim scores again! NICE man. You ever sell any of these? thinking for my next manch i may give you a call. I Want a shortbed 4.0 4x4 91 or 92. You find so damn many. Sheesh.
  6. ahhhh i seee.
  7.
  8. I mean... is a retread gonna cause it to not fit in your garage? whatd they do wrap the tire 15 times? doesnt make sense. If it doesnt fit now, 1 less inch should make much difference. Youre gonna put dinky tires on it just so it fits in the garage? those look about the right size.
  9. I havent had one of these particular engines apart yet (but i build engines for a living), but jim is right on. The block and crank are both machined where the thrust bearing goes. there wouldnt be any point in machining every journal for thrust "just in case". So youre gonna need to look closer. Its likely in the right spot. If not i can't see how it even ran. You can't HAMMER a thrust bearing in the wrong spot and then assemble the engine.... sorry not gonna work. BUT...having never done one of these i can't say that with certainty... i don't know how this engine is designed. Pics please!!!!
  10. Being a carb builder and tuner myself i absolutely LOVE carbs. BUT they were replaced by injection for a reason. They just can't provide the proper mixture to the engine under all circumstances. I have been building and wheeling 50s vw buses for 20 years roughly and the biggest issue is climbing steep hills. The carbs overflow out the vent and bogs the engine and your screwed halfway up the hill. It sucks but you learn how to drive around the issue. You can add vent extensions and do many mods to the carb but its still a pita in off camber situations. So yeah as wonderful as the injection is on these jeeps.. i wouldnt change a thing.
  11. We need more signatures.
  12. People are stupid. Who scraps a running vehicle... oh wait. I see it every week at my PAP. drives me insane. That last manch i found there was nicer than mine. :fs1: and mine is no junker.
  13. Id be snaggin the 4x4 one. :) Its got the v6 so its prob got 4.10s. Id chuck all the original/renix crap and toss in a 4.0 HO and some lift and have a dope little extra truck.
  14. well hell it should run pretty damn snappy with that combo. Done a compression test lately? maybe its on the soggy side. Some engines last 300 some ive seen just don't make it that far.
  15. that oughta go quick at that price.
  16. Just hope its not stolen. That would be my biggest concern after you had to do THAT much work. If you have the title your golden. Get it transferred and smile.
  17. awesome! longest damn short bed ever. :) I thought it was an LWB till i looked at it more. Thanks for the inspiration as i have been quietly gathering parts for my build. 13 is the year. ;)
  18. VISTA-PRO Part # 432268 i have that in my truck now. from rockauto its 95 bucks. i live in vegas and my truck runs perfect.
  19. rockauto.com best place to buy parts.
  20. i see now what your asking. have to do some measures I'm thinkin. see the thread on reson46's wifes truck. Willy set his in there.
  21. what hes saying is... since its a slip joint driveshaft and has a double cardan at the Tcase... you aim the flange on the axle straight at the Tcase at ride height. :)
  22. what a joke. car is as dumb as the designer.
  23. So it was just the rears that locked up?
  24. ^^^^ this. Cause a bone stock one sold on ebay in the last month for 7200 bucks. So.. i don't think this was bad pricing at all. As the trucks get rarer youre gonna see some wild prices me thinks. Just think... vw buses.... i used to get them for free... and you couldnt GIVE them away in the last 80s early 90s. Now several have gone for 250k on barret jackson. Trust me... none of us ever saw these days coming. My current bus is worth 15k and 15 years ago i would have sold it for 2500. The reality of this hit me when all state did the insurance quote for my truck. She typed it up on the screen and she goes... what do you think the current value is.... i guess 1500. She hits enter and goes.... oh wow... and looks surprised... leans in and reads for a moment and goes... well in average condition its 6200 right now. And thats what its covered for. i went....
  25. As soon as they proved that teflon coating causes cancer all my pans went in the trash and i have been a cast iron collector for quite some time now. Nothing beats a 80-100 year old cast iron pan. Its all i have. B)
