  1. My wife's monthly prescription bill is about $1,700, if I didn't have insurance (which runs almost $1,000 per month) She wouldn't be on this earth any longer. I feel for those in this country that are sick, elderly and uninsured or underinsured. I sat in the emergency room with my wife at about 11:00 P.M. to 2:00 A.M. one of the saddest experiences in my life to witness the suffering I saw in those three hours.
  2. There are lots of those pesky Mercedes critters out in Scotts Valley and Aptos :D Glad to hear no one was hurt.
  3. That ebay one should work for the long bed (JW auotwreckers has them too out here in CA), the problem I found is finding the right sender unit. The auto parts stores keep trying to sell cherokee units and they are different from the Comanche units. I wound up buying one from a JY and combining it with my old rusted sender unit. Hopefully your sender unit is still good. I originally thought it was my tank leaking but it was the housing around the sender unit. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-86-9 ... enameZWDVW
  4. My Cousin works for Toyota in Torrance Ca for the Warranty Department. My Brother in law owns a couple of Nissan dealerships here in the SF Bay Area, get a few drinks in 'em and I hear tales of the 22RE and the Nissan/Datsun L20B all night L O N G. :jump: They do both have high regard for the AMC/Jeep straight six logevity but constantly criticize the gas mileage and the oil leaks. I love driving my MJ to family events as I am oftern an outcast because I don't drive a Frontier or Tacoma.
  5. Not that I could ever comeup with $60,000 for any vehicle the magazine four wheeler has $80,000 in their TJ brute conversion and in the last issue implied they might be selling it and know that it might not fetch what they put into it. http://www.fourwheeler.com/projectbuild ... hotos.html Gotta love the build and those Dana 60's
  6. X2 I have used both the Monroe's and OME's on my TJ and MJ, for the money the Monroe's are great, but in the end the OME's are even better if you have the $$.
  7. A few years back when I was truck hunting there was someone in Hendersen Nevada with a red Levi's Honcho 401 for sale. If I recall it was going for around $10,000 I still have the autotrader print out somewhere, but I bought the MJ instead. For $500 I hope someone picks up that truck and gives it a good home. Like I said before the Mrs and CFO is looking to euthanize anymore Jeep strays that come my way.
  8. Sounds like a nice find! My Mrs. and CFO won't let me take home anymore Jeep strays
  9. I just love my gross polluter ;)
  10. gh I saw the one on ebay a while back I also saw one on NAXJA a couple of years ago IIRC it sold for about $160.
  11. It wasn't too long ago where a red 91 Eliminator went for over 8K.
  12. Holy good use of recycling an old MJ Batman! Like human organ recycling nothing is wasted from that MJ carcass in JeepcoMJ's neck of the woods. Out here in California I have no space to save an MJ or even reconstitute it, and it is great to see someone saving an MJ from the crusher and re-using the parts.
  13. Very clean! Should make someone a nice truck.
  14. On my seats, the headrest has two clips made into it. Kinda, sorta like electrical connectors. ie.. you snap them together and it hooks..... I removed the seat back fabric (too easy.) and kinda peeled it off inside out. (kinda like a sock) then you will see where and how to push the clips in and release the cylinders. Of course, you know you have to twist the things to adjust the head rest right? well imagine the part that twist is a cylinder inside of another cylinder. the outside cylinder has the clips you push from inside the seat... Is this what your asking?? Be carefull with those plastic cylinders the headrest goes into to, I snapped mine and the only place I could find replacements are at the JY.
  15. Pismo? That brings back memories, I went to Cal Poly SLO a long time ago. I didn't know anything was open to the public there anymore. We used to play at lake Nacimiento, Montana De Oro, and Pismo Beach. All I have seen there lately is folks renting rides in Hummers, and renting ATV's. THe old four wheel drive club was http://www.polygoats.com/ its sad to see how small the group has gotten there, but it looks like they do still play at Pismo. :chillin:
  16. Wow that is a good deal, the ebay auction I linked to is up over $325 after shipping and that box has half the RAM and is used compared to the brand new HP.
  17. It's actually going the other way. The Forest Service is bidding with the rest of the buyers when a bigger property come up for sale. They own a surprising amount of property that is outside of their borders and they use it to trade for stuff inside the lines to make nice tidy forests with no inholdings. Water will be the key to everything. The farmers in the Antelope Valley are asserting their rights and the developers are having a problem securing guaranteed supplies. Southern California is a desert and the water that has been there for growth is getting harder to come by. In the meantime, our town well levels have been steady since '93. As long as we flush the toilets, don't water a lawn, and don't wash cars, our water just goes in a circle. I read you, our state has grown from some 20 million to 38 million in the last 25 years. Water will be key and areas like yours certainly deserve their fair share of water. I expect something to be on the ballot within the next 5 years to address the water issue. Up north here its the San Juaquin farmers that have exerted their right to water that is helping to kill the smelt (hence bigger fish) in the Sacramento Delta. Folks that used to fish that area all the way to the Salmon at Klamath river have had disapointing seasons. I am beginning to see a ground swell of support for a new water delivery system in California from Tre-huggers to sportsmen. I read your comment with interest in that not having a comprehensive water delivery system, and how it has hampered the developers from being interested in the land in your area. It makes me wonder if hiding behind the tree-huggers and sportsmen that want a better water delivery system are developers. Like the old railroad speculators or the land buyers in the movie "Chinatown" try to guess (manipulate) where water might be made accessible to areas of California where it currently isn't. Such knowledge would make some folks very rich.
  18. The snow will still be on the north side of the hills and at the higher elevations. It's supposed to be in the 70's here this weekend. I hope so because I'm going chukar hunting on the edge of Death Valley. I had seen the area 25 years ago not a lot has changed apparently it's absolutely stunning! Let's hope those speculators don't get the Government to sell surrounding parcels to make it worthwhile to develop and ruin it. A lot can be said about what they did to the tiny desert town of Lancaster, one decade desert by the 90's what used to be sand and schrubs had housing tracks with tens of thousands of homes with folks out front watering their lawns and gardens.
  19. I don't think they are, perhaps the more knowledeable folks can confirm. (I am pretty sure Pete or Eagle know
  20. The only place I have ever heard of making such parts is http://store.shermanparts.com/cgi-bin/s ... mg_num=075 But last I read they confuse Cherokee parts with Comanche parts so I wouldn't recommend them unless you where certain those floorboards are for an MJ.
  21. Lots of used gaming PC's on ebay, I found this one very cheap so far. http://cgi.ebay.com/VELOCITY-MICRO-GAME ... dZViewItem
  22. Here is a link discussing this very same dilemna http://ask.metafilter.com/22336/How-to- ... -gaming-PC Like has been said here it will be tough to get around the cost of a video card for gaming. I liked some of the PC hunting on ebay, the most valuable thing on that link is the specs needed to run games and where to find them cheap.
  23. If you go take the suggestion of Eagle (I did) make sure that your axle isn't bent after two seals I finally realized the axle was bent and had to replace it.
  24. The MJ addiction she is kool with, but it's my jeep addiction that puts her over the top. I haven't been able to own two Jeeps at one time for years. I found the perfect J truck but I haven't been able convince her of its benefits  So instead I get to buy Hellcreek HD springs and get the bed of the MJ rhino lined (who could complain with that deal? :D )
  25. Here is a pic of a 1973, two tone same grill I think. http://ww2.collectorcartrader.com/viewp ... height=426 I am now in official negotiations with the wife, she wants me to get a "family car" so I am presenting this one to her. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/car/521638371.html I am not for sure on that engine and reliability. What drama eh?
