And I am more into the Koei war games ROTK 7-11 and Dynasty Warriors.

Looks like a nice MJ, there is an 86 2.5 with a cap painted like the Oakland raiders going for $5,000 in San Jose. I have seen fairly rough MJ's here going from between $1,200 - $1,800. I don't think they would be insulted if you offered $1,500 CL out here is also known as "dregs list" Lots of lowballers and tire kickers that would offer much less (no insults intended to folks outside of the California market) It's a weird market out here. I once had a a Mint Bose wave radio only 3 years old on sale for $140. I had a lowballer come to my house and offer $20. I had an old AM/FM cassette/turntable laying out in my garage that I said he could have for free.

I know we have a lot of younger folks on here, there is a site that explains our history and the rise of private sector unions, their contributions to the American laborer and American workforce in general. http://usinfo.state.gov/products/pubs/h ... ewdeal.htm Ain't that ironic about rebuilding Japan and Europe? There are two threories to that, according to my old timer father and father in law, we tried the War reparations strategy with Germany and her allies in world war I. It has been said that making the losing countries foot the bill for rebuilding the countries they attacked and for rebuilding their own gave rise to the likes of Hitler and Musilini for WWII. This caused scholars to choose the marshall plan for rebuilding all of europe including the Axis countries, and a similar plan was put forth in Japan under their first American Emperor (Mighty Mac) Douglas MacArthur. I think what we didn't figure is what "intellectual property" means to us westerners and what it means to entreprenauers in Asia. Our Asian friends do not understand the concept of what a "copyright" is. that combined with cheap labor and little regulation and lot's of investment capital (much of it is U.S. $$) gave birth to modern China and India.

How to install kill switch.
jeepdoggydogB replied to Mobius1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I tried this switch but unfortunately my 1991 isn't "wired" like other cars and trucks. I purchased this little unit and it looked promising: http://www.killswitchcentral.com/ The owner of the site was very helpfull, but following his instructions of starting the truck then pulling 10 amp fuses and reinserting them until you remove one the shuts your truck off did not work for me. The instrcutions then say to move to a 20 amp fuse and do the same. After emailing the site I was told to move to the PDC and try the same thing to no avail, I even removed the one that said "ignition" and it did not stall out the truck. After that I posted for help and someone cameup with this idea. http://projectxj.com/mods/kill.switch.htm That will be my next little project, as someone broke my rear slider a few months back. -
I had a little chuckle about the good ole days of "buying american" I think it is absolutely correct that the USA made quality products after WWII but my father and father-in-law (retired vets) also have a different take. After WWII nearly every factory in the industrialized world was blown up by the war. The world had to buy American and we enjoyed that momopoly of sorts well into the 60's.
-
The topics are intertwined. In US we have far more stringent rules for manufacturing and the like (we've got lots o' lawyers). Overseas, well, that can be a problem. Hmmm I thjink the problem is universal we have our fair share of recalls here like the Firestone tire recall that have caused deaths (I think one of the plants was in Decatur Illinois), we have had many issues of late with E-coli in our home grown foods. I used to shop at WALMART when Sam Walton was alive. Many of you younger whippersnappers might not remember Sam prided "made in America" as far back as 1991. He must be turning in his grave to see what his family has done to his company. I think "buying all american" these days is nearly impossible but many of us do try.
-
I thought this topic was about unsafe toys? The topic of buying American is an odious one as I know of no one that buys completely American, you can do your best to buy Amercian but in the end even our food comes from somewhere else.

I hear you jtdesigns, when I hear things like I grew up with lead in my toys I have to wonder. Here in the US of A every generation should be better than the last generation(what else could any parent aspire to). My father always said he wanted me to live better than he did and encouraged me to go to college or learn a trade. I also grew up when there was much we did not know about lead, DDT and other chemicals that can harm us. I think the difference between now and then is that we know the difference between bad and good and to me knowingly putting lead into a toy today is far worse than it ever was when we at least could claim to be ignorant of the effects of lead especially where our children are concerned. Can't we all at least agree that this is beyond a "buyer beware mentality".

Man what a great thread: 1966 Buick Electra 2 dr with 401 wildcat engine my high school ride in Subic Bay Phillipines 1977-79(Dad's car) 1972 Datsun 510 with Mulholland suspension, mikuni/offenhauser (my first for $1,500 in 1980) I wish I paid the bucks to have that Buick shipped back here to the states I sure miss that car. Didn'r get a truck until Oct of 87 1988 Nissan hardbody 4 cyl.

I saw that one too, looks great, but I also wonder if there is rust not being mentioned. With little to no rust I don't see why that wouldn't fetch what was stated before (5K).

AEV has a 2006 Brute in stock now for $57,000 http://www.aev-conversions.com/vehicles ... entory.php If I had that kind of money that us what I would buy.

I had my 91 transported from Cleveland Ohio to Vallejo Ca right to my door with DAS. I had no problems with that transaction, but it was pricey right around $1,000 but if you look into air fair and gas it's wasn't worth it to drive all that way.

wipers stopped working
jeepdoggydogB replied to jackel18's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you have the intermittent option on your wipers I would go under the dash by the steering wheel and pull out the intermittent module and reseat it. That brought my wipers back to life for me. -
XJ overhead console in a MJ
jeepdoggydogB replied to eacomanche88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Which one is that? Actually I got the Quadratec CIPA 6500 with the lights, auto dimming, and temp/compass very expensive but worth it. FOr extra storage lockable storage I went with the Tuffy insert to the center console. Installed really easy and looks pretty good. I kept hitting my head on that overhead console, I guess my torso must be longer than others. -

jeepdoggydogB replied to eacomanche88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Any extra interior lights you can get always helps too! My 91 already had the lighted vanity mirrors, and the renault rear interior lightss that sell for $70 on ebay just don't cut it. -
XJ overhead console in a MJ
jeepdoggydogB replied to eacomanche88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A few of us have toyed with the idea, I even got a great deal on a grey 94 GC overhead console and brand new temp sensor. I found that when I test mounted it I hit my head on the thing all the time (I am only 5'11). IMHO the poster hornbrod wins the award for temp sensors by utilizing the clock panel in his 91. I went another route and bought the quadratec CIPA auto dimming mirror with temp/compass and map lights. GoJEEPS website had a lot of good information if you choose to go with the overhead console. -
Ah thanks I figured anyone that made anything for a Comanche would know about this site. I am thinking about the metric tonne spring pack to replace the long AAL I have in the rear. I have had them for about 2 years and they are about due to start sagging . I was considering the rusty's 4'' but didn't want to go to 4 inches and have to give the OME shocks.

Method of transmitting DSL data over 2 POTS loops http://www.freepatentsonline.com/20060104436.html Looks like there is actually a company that claims to make a product to do this.
