  1. I like it, the first one I saw was when somone posted a pic on JU back in 99. At the time not many liked it, it even had the woody sides installed like the old Ford Ranchero or Chevy El Camino Woody's of the 70's and early 80's. I am not too fond of the Woody sides but that front end is sweet. So far there are two options for us the 97+ front clip or this one. I am researching a distant third possibility, and that is a front clip install from the Chinese 2500 XJ. A friend of mine is an immigrant from mainland China, and goes back every couple of years. He tells me He can get those parts and ship them back, but my fear is paying for two fenders, lights, markers, bumper and header only to find it won't work with the MJ. When I find out what those parts cost I will keep everyone posted.
  2. I have purchased a few things from them and definitely not cheap, but consistant. It's getting harder and harder to find a wrecking yard with rust free parts. If those fellas do have cargo lights I wonder if some of us on this board would tell the rest of us what they really paid to get such a rarity ;)
  3. Sure! Everyone over 39 gets a 20% discount off their annuals dues. :teehee: I was thinking of a seniors menu with bigger fonts and smileys :jump:
  4. 46 until October, Damn do i get a senior discount :D
  5. Big high paws to Bullwinkl
  6. There is a really nice write up on gojeeps website documenting a 99+ intake from an XJ, but for us early pre-95 style power steering, a later model power steering reservoir and pulley need to be added. I think I read somewhere that the intakes on the 4.0 grands are the same as the XJ? I did find an engine build write up with a pic of a grand intake here. http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/cate ... mm/page/2/ A RHD centric writeup is here on gojeeps site. http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/
  7. That's a nice poster Pete great find, I bought the Comanche clock and have it in my garage. I can't beleive the auction is over $60, the first time I saw that coin a few months back it didn't sell because the reserve wasn't met at $7.
  8. MIchael Stead Jeep in Walnut Creek Ca was kind enough to go back to old Microfiche to find the old part number. Great grouip in their parts department
  9. I am cleaning them out of mine as well, my wiper bottle motor died, I ordered through their website, got email back discontinued. I have since spent 20 percent more and ordered through a local dealership who seemed to be able to get the part.
  10. Here is my Comanche with 3 inches of lift and 31's I wish I had the clearence you have, because compared to you mine sucks.
  11. I have 3 inches of lift and coudln't get the YJ shccks to work for the rear. You will need a schock to extend from eye to eye something in the neighborhood of 24or 25 inches. The YJ shock I had only exended to about 22.5 if I recall.
  12. The ZJ overhead console is another outstanding "from the factory look" solution. I loved that console in my old 97 ZJ, but it seemed the ZJ had more headroom. My problem is that I hit my head on the top of the MJ cab with regularity. I am only 5'11'' but I have a longer torso and shorter legs. If i didn't hit my head so much that would be my number one choice, but still please show us a write up. $80 and some work with outstanding functionality and looks beats $200 and labor anyday.
  13. Nice work, please do document with prices. I have been looking at this at quadratec http://www.quadratec.com/products/93011_901.htm their solution kills two birds by helping with the awfull interior lights, with temperature and compass readout. I really like your innovation for the "come from the factory look". For me that is tough to beat and if the price is less than the $200 clams that quadratec wants I think you got a real winner here.
  14. I have with good success, I found them easier to deal with by phone than by e-ordering. :D
  15. Sounds like a terrible time, but your new truck is sweet. I don't have headrests like that on my Eliminator I like the looks of yours  better. Hopefully in a year from now you'll wonder how you ever managed things with only two MJ's
  16. There was a Laredo truck for sale some months back on ebay with the gray exterior and maroon interior. It had electric windows and seats with the selectrac transfer case. Lots of close interior shots and if it was a fab job that one looked to be done right. I emailed the seller and he said it was from the factory that way but wasn't the original owner, but it had too much rust for my liking. Never could verify (Didn't want to pay for a carfax) if it came from the factory that way or who did the mod. When you get the XJ buckets installed please share the mod as electric XJ buckets are plentiful in junk yards. Like some of us one of my dreams is finding an old MJ with Factory electrics, but I keep waking up before I can close the deal. ;)
  17. The site owner's email address is rottingmuscle@aol.com maybe they could explain? I googled the site and didn't see anything that could get the site suspended so I would bet they haven't kept up their hosting fees?

    mpg rant

I really miss having 28 inch tires with 3.73's man was that a torquey ride, but since I went to 31's it's right about the way it was with 3.07's and 28's. On a good day it gets 16 MPG but I mostly get in the high 14's and middle 15's. Gotta love those renix MJ's and XJ's for the mileage, I haven't found nearly as many HO folks as happy with their mileage as renix folks.
  19. Thanks Pete, $300 for one being nearly perfect sounds right to me, but since there isn't much of an MJ market out here it is hard to figure this market.
  20. From what I have read about the MJ 20 i'd be all over that axle if I didn't already have a 44. It looks to be about as bolt on as you can get upgrading from a 35. I would imagine tweaking the ebrake and a little brake cable re-routing would get someone a stronger axle. I think with a small or no lift the drive shaft might even bolt up. What do folks think it is worth?
  21. Ah yes the AMC 20, the pumpkin didn't look totally round to me (at first glance) it looked more elliptical. From what I have read the AMC 20 for an MJ is quite the tough axle, if this is a moving sale I am sure the seller would be motivated to take less. There aren't a whole lot of MJ lovers out this way that I know of (just me and fiatslug) if I was a betting man I would say not many out here appreciate the value of that axle (if any). :D
  22. Not mine but I found this add on CL in the San Francisco Bay Area. Looks more like a Dana 35 rear to me but if it is what the seller claims it might be a good deal for somebody. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/285212720.html
  23. It will be well worth the splurge, I have nearly the same setup, including the Pioneer deck DEH P7700 which I do not think they make anymore. I made sure I put loads of insulation in my doors, and rear area. I also made my doors as water tight as possible with plastic and duck tape. I have a cheap clarion subwoofer that I wanted to add, but I like the sound as is.
  24. I use a boneyard in Antelope for rust free parts I can't find otherwise. They can be pricey but if you gotta have it.... http://www.servicenetwork.com/sites/jwj ... 459BCC47CD Check out the pic called MJ row, lots of old trucks and parts waiting for a home.
  25. Is that 1.5 Mbps from ATT? Out here they had some kind of special from ATT with up to 1.5 Mbps at $14 per month. I also love cable over DSL, I had ATT DSL and I was down a month before I switched to Comcast. Granted $42 per month is much more than $14, but I also like when I call Comcast for help they all speak great english.
