Great find! I am looking for gray leathers out of a XJ 2 door, XJ 4 door, wagoneer or Briarwood if gray leathers even existed in the 2 door models models that is.

That's a great price, I like the design of this tray but at nearly $500.... http://www.wranglernw.com/ProductPicker ... temtype=11 I think with factory air you get the higher (90 AMP?) alternator, but I am sure someone else has more accurate knowledge of this.

Wow, good for him, I hope he gets it. I once considered paying that kind of money on a CJ8 from Collins Bros. His Jeep sounds like a really nice rig.

Hello I live 30 miles East of San Fran, and also I got the chain idea because my brother-in-law who owns two Nissan Dealerships and sold me a 1988 hardbody PU new in Nov of 87, but I love me 91 Jeep the most of all over any Nissan vehicle I ever owned.

Has that truck sold yet? As far as I could tell it did not, if it did sell for $10,000 or more that would be the most I have ever seen a Comanche sell for on ebay.

Rear Speaker Upgrade?
jeepdoggydogB replied to Drahcir495's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had a pair of Infinity 4X6 (462.5) from my old TJ and put them in the back, like has been said not a lot of room in the back. I have the Infiinity Kappa Component speaker 5.25 in the front and will be putting in a cheap Panasonic subwoofer behind the seats. So far the sound is good, much better than stock. Like was suggested earlier perhaps an external enclosure for the rears or external pods might be better rather than hacking up the rear area for 6X9's. -
'07 West Coast Pow Wow
jeepdoggydogB replied to feerocknok's topic in Adventure Planning / Regional Groups
The lost Coast in Humboldt is probably a good start. There are some good places to wheel, there is a club there here is their link. http://www.lostcoast4x4.org/ -

In addition to those mentioned, Hollister Hills, and Lost Coast are options just not as challenging as others. -
I have a spare one sitting in my garage that I had hopes of modifying with a chain instead of cable, but I am not sure it would be worth shipping from California.

So what does the Mrs. Think of ur MJ, and MJ addiction?
jeepdoggydogB replied to sinnaevd's topic in The Pub
The Wife hates it, my brother owns a Nissan Dealership and she couldn't understand when I said no to a 2005 NISMO Crewcab 4X4 and YES to my Comanche. -
maint required light
jeepdoggydogB replied to creekscout's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a 91 and the 91 and later are the ODB I, I happen to have an OEM Chrysler code reader that I got fairly cheap on Ebay that I used to reset the MAINT REQ light. If all you want to do is make the light go off I would remove the bulb as Pete suggested. For me that tool has been great for troubleshooting a host of other problems much easier. Right now that reader has helped me isolate certain issues in my ignition system. When I put in the JC bored out throttle body assembly my gas mileage and perfromance decreased significantly I ran some diagnostics and found my TPS was at .75 OHMs instead of the 1-4 OHM range accross the throttle (yes I am too lazy to run an OHM meter). Not what I would call an absolute necessity of a tool but it sure has come in handy for me. -
If this is the same Cheromanche that was listed on ebay a few years ago, you can't actually sit anyone in the rear seat area, it was for storage only, but a sweet rig nonetheless

OME shocks for MJ's ?
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The TJ wrangler has a bar ping, but the YJ wrangler is eye to eye. -
OME shocks for MJ's ?
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Looks like we are stuck with just that one choice for the rear, that is one long shock. Just looking at the numbers it looks like there is another option. It looks like the N33 will work as well, I have experience with that shock as I ran that one in my TJ great shock. -
OME shocks for MJ's ?
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Good work! I worked with Dirk initially and we both got stuck on the Rancho chart which showed erroneous data. So what is an N35 and what is it made for? Thanks again, Dog -
OME shocks for MJ's ?
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Must have missed that. The MJ rear shocks do use bar pins. You can use the same bar pin eliminators (Rocky Road style) on the rear shock upper mount and the front shock lower mount. Adds 1-1/4" overall length to the shock. But even that might not be enough a 3" lift. Quadratech sells an OME 14.50"-24.50" rear shock which should work fine w. a 3" lift, especially using bar pin eliminators for a little more length. At least the math says it will. Then that would be the ticket for the rears . It could be my truck is not stock I am at least the 3rd owner, but I can't see any bar pins on the upper rear shock mount like on the front lower shock. -
OME shocks for MJ's ?
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I asked that here in an earlier post, the rears don't use bar pins, so it looks like I might have to sell my rear shocks. It's odd that on Rancho's web page they recommend the rs5118 and show the rs5116 in Jeepster and gladiator era trucks. So back to the orignal question what OME shocks would fit a moderately lifted MJ. The safest answer is the OME fronts for the XJ, but where we are stuck again is which OME for the rears. :chillin: -
OME shocks for MJ's ?
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The OME 14"-21.5" is LESS extension than the OEM shocks (13.2"-24.4"). And with 3" of lift you are right at the extended limit of the OME shock. Could be why it's clunking. Odd that the Rancho shocks don't do the same thing though. What is the eye-to-eye dimension of the rear Rancho shocks you have on your rig now? That's the other odd thing, the eye to eye deimension is 21.5 also. You can check the rancho site RS5118 is for the YJ wrangler and the MJ with up to 3 inches of lift. The equivalent shock for the OME YJ wrangler is the N34. -
OME shocks for MJ's ?
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's odd, but my Rancho RS5118 are almost identicle to my OME's. 14 compressed, 21.5 fully extended yet there was that strange clunking sound. I haven't had a chance to put the OME's back on and get to the bottom of the noise, but I should have some time in the next couple of weeks. -
What kind of MPG can I expect
jeepdoggydogB replied to WN1998's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you are talking about the MJ in your sig, those Renix jeeps IMHO just beat the crap out of HO jeeps in the MPG department. I wish the Mrs. had let buy the 1990 Eliminator along with my 1991. -
What kind of MPG can I expect
jeepdoggydogB replied to WN1998's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
it shows a little on the slow side... the HO isnt the big difference in years.. its the difference in the AW4's do you have a manual or auto? before 1991 (1990-) the AW4 had a power/comfort mode switch and in comfort mode it shifts alot early and saves more gas, the 1991+ is hardwired into power mode. I have the manual, but I also need to replace my O2 sensor as the Maint REQ light came on. When I first bought the truck the PO had it running with 29's and 3.33 gears he towed a boat. But I remember it getting about 17 MPG's, and 3.73 with 29 inch tires was a super fast! If it wasn't for my familiarity with HO stuff and all my diagnostic equipment I own for HO's I would have purchased a 1990 Eliminator with the AW4. If my wife had let me I would prolly own both. -

jeepdoggydogB replied to WN1998's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My mileage isn't that great, with the JC throttle body 3.73's and 31's I get about 14 with combined city highway driving. You got the HO MJ like mine, I wouldn't expect to get as good a mileage as the Renix guys. I know my mileage is a little off as I have the speedo gear for 30 inch tires on my 31's, and I am not sure if it shows me as going faster or slower. -
Hot Damn, has anyone re-read his add? He wants over $7600 + a little more. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-Com ... dZViewItem I have seen a pristine (< 10,000 mi with cosmoline) 87 go for about $5,500 on ebay but never anything for this price. God bless him for restoring this great little truck and an important icon in jeep hostory, but I can get an early 90's 1.25 ton full size dually for about the same price.

I am not sure this was the same one, but here is the link from last March, it went for about 2K. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-Com ... 1020QQrdZ1

Fuel Pump and tank wrong???
jeepdoggydogB replied to GummiBeer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had a similar problem with Napa, I went as far as to purchase a new gas tank off of ebay to confirm that the pump was wrong. I then picked one up from a wrecking yard and it installed with no fabbing, just went right in. I bought 3 pumps from carquest, napa, and ebay, all did the same thing. I have the 18.8 gallon tank with the 6 ft bed.
