  1. I think we have two extra front bumpers with end caps sitting around if you need more.
  2. Love it and love the full length soft top. We came across a CJ-8 with full hard top this summer in northern Idaho.
  3. When we took ours out to recover, it looked like there was velcro type material near the back edge. I wonder if something like that would help without taking the risk of sending some self tappers through the roof.
  4. Nicely done! That's a lot of work! Is the "normal" gas filler door just a dummy door to nothing now? Looks cool like it has dual tanks.
  5. Looks great! What material did you use to smooth the floor?
  6. Makes sense, but these must be long gone on our MJ & XJ. What are they called so we can try to find new ones?
  7. Nice find! Seems like heresy for a red pickup to have been sold in Provo though!
  8. My eyes!! https://www.facebook.com/share/j5EqoGkLsUX1wU7E/
  9. A collector for sure. And this confirms that it's a '96.
  10. Wish we could get that bed...
  11. Not a Comanche, but a rare XJ. Seemed like the kind of thing this group was into. in St. George, Utah. https://www.facebook.com/share/9XVNC8Xbt39wpW91/ Shows as pending, but I understand the buyer fell through. Additional information I obtained from the seller: Runs, but hood latch is stuck and battery is dead, seller "thinks" it's 4.0 Listed as '93, but I think it's '95 or '96 (Dodge steering wheel) Rusted floors I've been sorely tempted and the price is right, but we have enough project Jeeps already.
  12. Nice find!
  13. With hot temperatures in the forecast for the next week and beyond, what's your favorite sunshade to use in the windshield of your Comanche? Most sunshades currently on the market are much too large (tall) for the MJ/XJ windshield. I've tried a few accordion style foil sunshades, but have been less than satisfied with the papery edging material that deteriorates in the sun (ironic) and makes a mess. My current favorite (fit wise at least) is one that was handed out as a freebie at a NFL game, but I don't know how effective it is (it was free after all). What have you found that fits and works?
  14. Haven't done much to the Comanche lately because we took a break to build a shed. Purchased a kit from Costco and then modified it (2 feet longer, double door on the long side, concrete slab, etc.). Went with a bold blue color for fun. Put up the shed in 5 days during spring break and been fiddling with it for the last 3 months...
  15. Sorry to hijack, but why do you want to go from sliding to solid?
  16. That's what I'm thinking seeing this too. The bar looks easy enough to fabricate. As simple as some angle iron perhaps. The J-bolts will take a little fabrication and trial and error probably. Add this to the seemingly endless to do list...
  17. After having trouble with turn signals and messing with sockets (a lot) and wiring (a lot), we picked up a new front clip wiring harness from the local junk yard and it solved the nagging problems (at least the ones associated with turn signals... )

    "New" Jeep

Thanks! It's definitely a single piece axle shaft, and if it's not original, its pretty old. I'm no expert on axles or identification, but some Google searching tells me it looks like it could be a Dana 44. Definitely not that perfectly circular AMC 20 diff cover. That's a good thing, right?

    "New" Jeep

It's a newer looking Holley, and it's a non-progressive two barrel. That's all I know about it but it starts great, runs great, and makes good power.

    "New" Jeep

Added a "new" Jeep to the fleet. This is a '86 CJ-7 with 183K miles, 4.2L I6, hardtop, 4x4 (obviously). It's nearly entirely stock. A coworker asked if I knew anyone that would be interested in buying their CJ-7 and I volunteered as quickly and vigorously as I could. My coworker and her husband were the 2nd owners, used it to hunt, camp, and around their rural home and only put 24K miles on it in 25 years of ownership. We agreed on a price that I think is well well below market value for the vehicle (but also the 2nd most expensive Jeep I've purchased ) because they wanted it to go to a home that would appreciate it. It's an even better value when I consider that they threw in a tow bar, homemade hard top hoist, bikini top, and tow lights. We've owned 3 Cherokees, 1 Comanche, and a J10. As much as we have loved each of those, this is our first real Jeep. Had to sell a Cherokee to make room and free up some money, but we are excited to add this to our fleet.
  21. If you can spare and repair the 10 slot grille, that's what I would do. We found one in a junk yard and are glad we picked it up.
  22. I like this and will probably buy a MJ and XJ sticker soon. Not having CJ seems like a serious omission though!

Nice find! I look forward to seeing more pictures. Looks in great condition from the angle you took the picture.
  24. Glad to hear it!
