Which electric fan to buy?
Salvagedcircuit replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You chose wisely Besides the sharp edges on the TYC fan, the runout is noticeable. I am curious about the runout on the TYC fan vs the original mopar one. If I ever run across a mopar fan, I'll try and compare the two of them with a dial indicator. -
Excuse me sir, I'll have to label this post as NSFW! Not Safe For Wallet

Which electric fan to buy?
Salvagedcircuit replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Lots of folks recommend the TYC 620560 10 blade fan. Since it's for a 97+ it has a different connector. You will need to adopt it to the comanche wiring harness. The fan is nice, but you will notice that it has sharp plastic edges everywhere, like it's being produced in an worn out mold. The fan works great, I just deburr the edges with a deburring tool so I don't cut my hand open installing and uninstalling the fan into the future. I use a carbide deburring tool, but since it's plastic, a utility knife would do the job. -
They are getting a bit harder to find, and with the prices on ebay, I just opted to not bother looking anymore. The wheels roll fine without em Good luck.

Yesssssss I've always been a fan of the column shift. Maybe its because my folks astro was a column shift and I just got used to it? -

October 2023 - The Twins' Truck
Salvagedcircuit replied to 89 MJ's topic in Comanche of the Month (MJOTM)
Awesome story! The truck looks excellent! Trucks doing truck things. Same here! Before year 2020, I had no idea there was a truck version of the cherokee XJ - and my dad was an original owner of an '89 XJ! I purchased my comanche, then my dad pulled out his original '88 brochure. Sure enough, there it was. Crazy! -

When one sells, two more show up When I finally got mine mostly sorted, a '91 shortbed in decent shape with minimal rust shows up in NJ for $4500. Still kicking myself for not grabbing the shortbed to match my '88 longbed.

The Alabama Turbo Diesel
Salvagedcircuit replied to ThreeComanches's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Hot dang! That's a score. New Hampshire shines again. Going to northern NH is truly a time capsule. Just 2-3 years ago you could still get parallel port printer cables at computer stores near Franconia. The Staples up in Littleton carried a year 2003 ATI radeon 9200se graphics card until about 2017. -

Some say you can hear him roar when a strong breeze comes. Others say he's the low rpm growl of a 4.0L at idle But we all know him as.... @Pete M Speaking of that, Pete if you need funding for upcoming website registration or hosting space, let us know!

Track bars created equal?
Salvagedcircuit replied to NC Tom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Wasn't the WJ or V8 ZJ track bar an upgrade over the stock XJ/MJ one? I vaguely remember reading that somewhere. -
Something to note. I replaced my floor pan with one from C2C fabrication. They claim "made in the motor city" on all their products. The pan was made in Taiwan by CHL I can't say 100% if it's the same as the keyparts one but it looks very similar. I also grabbed one from advance auto parts. It was another pan made in Taiwan by CHL

Internal view of the rear leveling valve.
Salvagedcircuit replied to coheed's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Very neat explanation! I did not even realize the load sensing lever was adjustable until someone posted the fork adapter just earlier this week. In some ways I naively discarded my load sensing prop valve when I upgraded to the WJ booster + master, but the amount of mud in the brake fluid and master makes me think it was still a wise choice. -
