Here's my drivers side. This was a good condition mj on the east coast. Wirewheel the rust and seam sealer away on the drivers side and then you can get a good idea about the metal condition. Carpet out: The solution: You will likely not need to do this much work, yours looks a lot better than mine.

Installed a Touchscreen Headunit
Salvagedcircuit replied to MississippiComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've seen a lot of variations of these ~1.25-slot-Din-to-1-slot-Din radios. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CB635ZGL/ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CB5DP1J3/ They all seem like clone-zone products of dubious quality sold by alphabet sellers on amazon / ebay / aliexpress. I think I should grab one for a teardown to see what they are really made of. There is no doubt these are tailor made for eastern markets and resold to western markets. Thus, I bet there's no western microcontrollers ADCs, DACs or sound specific ICs. You will not find a Analog Devices Sharc DSP in one of these like you'd find in an established brand. Cloned microcontrollers are likely not going to have DRM enabled either, so ironically, these cloned devices will be more useful than legit ones lol. Why bother paying to join an electronics consortium when you can clone the designs yourself? I bet these are straight up an espressif esp32's with additional memory and a cloned audio microcontroller. Just look at the photos. Have you ever seen a trapezoidal USB port? -
I see all three embedded youtube videos @gogmorgo posted.

Busted LCD clocks
Salvagedcircuit replied to eaglescout526's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Custom LCD segment displays can be produced via a contract manufacturer: Granted, I doubt that needs to be done here. I can imagine AMC used whatever was inexpensive and plentiful to get a hold of when they had the clocks produced. I have not yet had the time to look at and analyze the broken clocks I got from you, but whenever I do, I'll let you know Best case scenario, a similar sized transflective 7-segment tft LCD can be found and utilized. -
Clean Wiring Layout

I wrote up this guide which you might find useful, but it is mainly targeted at the 4.0L engine because that's what I'm most familiar with: A lot of these photos came from Bring A Trailer listings of jeeps with the specific years. -

He's 100% right! Previous owner was careless and left me a mangled mess. Luckily these lines are still available. Thank goodness! -
Hahahaha. "HAL, make me a photo of an 80s jeep pickup crossed with a chia pet and Bob Ross on a picturesque lake sunset" I can do that Dave

This is an excellent guide. Many thanks for being thorough! If I end up taking mine apart, I may just use sem seam-sealer or 3M 08008 Black Weatherstrip /gasket Adhesive to seal them up again. -

I think I'll chime in here: Man this thing is soo unique. It must be a treasure to see it pass by. -
Rubbing alcohol and Goo gone work wonders. Rubbing alcohol attacks clear plastics (can make opaque and crack), so avoid in that specific case.

That's one hell of an awesome build! Thanks for sharing these photos. That one deserves it's own poster!
