  1. Very nice! Truck Lite is local to me, know many people that have worked there. They make some very nice lights. I am running Sylvania sealed beams with a stock harness, they are pretty mediocre but better than the old sealed beam I had that had a hole in the lense and was no longer sealed. My friend did Holly Retrobrite headlights on his 86 F150, they look amazing and perform amazing.
  2. Have you gone an made sure all the grounds are good?
  3. Welcome! Let us know what you need to know! I'm not sure how much of a wrench you are, but are sure you choose the right MJ if you want to do a 4.0L 4wd swap? It is absolutely possible to do, but I doubt it's the most economical way into owning a fairly common configuration of MJ.
  4. Did you change the push rods?
  5. I've found this to be the case for sure. I remember parking at a car show in my Comanche, the traffic cop directing me where to park was very confused that I was entering the show with the Comanche, while simultaneously a guy standing right behind him was majorly geeking out amazed that there was a Comanche. I've owned many cool vehicles, all of which have their following, the Comanche gets the most attention, hands down.
  6. Very nice. Sometimes one just doesn't get lucky with new parts.
  7. A plugged catalytic converter usually manifests itself as a stumble when cold until it warms up. Usually you can smell a heavy exhaust/raw gas smell. In extreme cases the catalytic converter will glow red hot when it's plugged. Sometimes the internal element will rattle loose and get plugged in the wrong orientation. Hitting the converter will result in a rattle if this is the case.
  8. I like that it's a manual. Very pretty, similar to my 90 Eliminator except only 2wd. That factory rear bumper looks great too!
  9. Lowering the rear should be easy. Two inch lowering blocks and longer u bolts. That looks awesome, what tires are you running, they look sticky.
  10. I had a nice Comanche specific Pendaliner bed liner. I didn't like how slippery it was and that I had no access to the tie down points in the corners of the bed. I loved how hard it was and how well it protected the bed sheet metal. I ended up getting the bed Linex lined, and love it. Protects the rails and is grippier. Looks amazing. I tried to find someone that wanted the liner for their Comanche but was unsuccessful. Ultimately I sold it to someone that wanted to used it as the floor of their lawnmower shed.
  11. Depends on the programming of the LED module that changes the colors. Likely what you state will work, of just rocking it quickly. Should be easy enough to plug in and try out.
  12. One heck of a lot of work represented here. Awesome build, and I suspect it won't be so scuzzy by the time you are done. Congrats!
  13. Nicely done! I always appreciate a good machining project. Looks like you started the logical way with a hex bolt and machined it to fit.
  14. Sounds doable. I have vent windows do like them, but would not go out of my way to replace perfectly good fixed windows that are quiter and do not leak.
  15. The OBD port you are referring to that an insurance company plug would go into was introduced on all US market vehicles in 1996. No vehicle before 1996 would have one and all vehicles sold in the US in 1996 and later have one. It's known as OBD2 and includes a standardized port and protocol across all manufacturers. Some manufacturers have their own protocols that are unique but they are all required to have common protocols for things like emissions, and certain diagnostics tests.
  16. @Gojira94 I fully agree. The reverse flow head of the 4.0L is never going to have amazing VE numbers but there were good improvements over the years to make it better. I do like the Renix system for how easy it is to understand and the vast knowledge that exists on it. When searching for a Comanche I was specifically looking for an 89 or 90 Renix 4.0L as I knew it was pretty well supported. The early 90s OBD1 systems that are in many cars scare me as the support for those is often through early, hard to get a hold of code readers. Renix is pre OBD1, stores no codes, and can be diagnosed with a multi meter. On top of it, the REM takes all of the hard work out and tells you what each reading is.
  17. On paper, the improvements in power that OBD1 provides over remix are more likely due to head and intake port design. The OBD1 heads just flow better. By 1989 the Renix engines only made 9 less horsepower than the HO OBD1 4.0L engines.

    new guy

Sweet MJ! Clean and an awesome color!
  19. So you are saying you did new piston rings? How about valve stem seals?
  20. This was how I did the sound deadening.
  21. Yep, there is Velcro. I put a new piece on for freshness on mine. FYI, I'd you do any butyl mat on the roof, avoid the top center as it will space down the headliner making it more challenging to fit. As a result of covering my entire roof in Killmat, the headliner now sits forward farther than it should.
  22. Before I converted to external slave, I was bleeding the internal slave in my AX-15 every few days. The trick I found was to open the bleeder and just let it gravity bleed for a couple of minutes. No pumping. Resulted in a beautifully firm pedal every time. Just make sure the master doesn't run out as you do it.
  23. Any chance your diff is locked up?
  24. Having done work like this, get some high quality thin cut off wheels for your angle grinder, I prefer DeWalt brand. Then just start removing material from either the truck for the replacement panel until it fits how you want. Decide if you are overlapping or butt welding it together.
