I'm pretty sure that's one of the ugliest XJ paint jobs I've seen in a long time.

Go look up the specs for your exact tire. It should have a number for revs per mile. Then run the numbers: Revs x axle ratio x 13 รท 1000 Round up.

6.0/4L65E but what Tcase for it?
derf replied to Coman man's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Any of the GM tcases would work. An NP241 is a manual shift case that came in pickups. The electronic controlled cases from the trucks and SUVs are harder to get working. Novak and Advance Adapters make kits for the Jeep NP231 for arou.d $5-600. -
Yep. If I had a kid show up it would certainly be a surprise to me, and an unpleasant one at that. Congrats rylee.

Best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most joyous traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, but with respect for the religious persuasion of others who choose to practice their own religion as well as those who choose not to practice a religion at all; Additionally, a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the generally accepted calendar year 2020, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions have helped make our society great, without regard to the race, creed, color, religious, or sexual preferences of the wishes. (Disclaimer: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others and no responsibility for any unintended emotional stress these greetings may bring to those not caught up in the holiday spirit.)

The parts accumulation phase is underway. I found a dash pad a while back. Also picked up a renix wiring harnes and TCC for the AW4 I have already picked up. Yesterday I grabbed a front Dana 60 from a 2002 F350. It's the one in the back. The other one is for my buddy's TJ and it's out of a 95 F350. I'm going to grab a matching Sterling rear (or Dana 80) out of a compatible Superduty to get the 8 on 170 bolt pattern. 5.38s will turn a set of 40s pretty well.

Would you ship the tailgate to Colorado? I can pick up from greyhound, which is easy and cheap for shipping. -
Wiggle the wire around while you're testing it. It could be that holding it in one position will keep it appearing to be in good shape when there is some issue with it when it's bouncing around in a moving vehicle. And do all of the other testing for crossed wires, shorts to ground, shorts to voltage etc suggested above.

Man, I was going to ask him how he kept things from sliding off.

A broken wire would keep the cruise from engaging.

Question about Transfer Case swap

That would work too. -

A case from a 99 won't have the vacuum actuator to run the disconnect system. -

Double check the spline count of the two cases. The electrical plug for the shift indicator is different. Also if you have the disconnect axle you will need to convert to a one piece axle. -
When I drive my J10 around, I get people asking me if I want to sell it. I put it up for sale and put a price on it and everyone vanishes.

That may be a cable for a full size Jeep. There are 4 total cables involved in the FSJ parking brake system. One each from the axle to the frame, one like that to tie them together, and one from the pedal that pulls on the bare cable.

Good advice. I have a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek as my daily. No temptation to mod it like I did with my XJ daily driver. I just get in the subie and drive. No problems, no worries, no headaches. When my Jeeps are down, I still have transportation.

Looks good

It's an opportunity to upgrade. You can buy aftermarket shafts with bigger u-joints. Stronger shafts with stronger joints are always a good upgrade. But they're a few hundred bucks for the set. Swapping out to later XJ/TJ shafts is a cheaper option but you still want to swap u-joints while they're out. Maybe have a shop do it for you.

TheCodeMonk's 91 MJ - Rocky's slow build
derf replied to thecodemonk's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
That's a little smaller than I would feel comfortable with. Maybe something like 1.5 square tubing or thicker wall. Or both. Or maybe putting in more tubes. Like 6" on center vs 12" on center. -

My JK lets me pull the end of the stalk out when I have the parking lights on only. I don't have to turn on the low beams. When I turn the lights off, the stalk pulls the end back in.
