  1. It should be the same. In the TJ they went from the 32RE to the 42RLE through into the 07-11 JK before switching to the WA580 behind the Pentastar in 12. There may be some updates from year to year, and the bellhousing beteen the TJ and JK will be different but it's the same basic trans once they went to a 4 speed.

    Buying a house!

I lived in a neighborhood with an HOA once. Never again. They're hit and miss. But any good HOA can get taken over by control freaks. I am specifically avoiding HOA neighborhoods because I don't trust them. And while Highlands Ranch is close to work, they are pretty bad there for what I want to do. So I'll go somewhere else and not bother them and they won't bother me.
  3. Half the time the computer is smarter than the monkey behind the counter.
  4. The computers aren't compatible. You'd have to bring the whole engine/trans over and hook up ABS sensors on all 4 corners. The KJ doesn't have a traditional speed sensor in the tcase. It uses ABS to run the speedometer and figure out when to shift the transmission.
  5. Yeah, the 42RLE has a "less than favorable" reputation. It's not the longest lasting transmission. There's a few shops that do some upgrades but it's still a 42RLE. Check out ATS diesel. They have branched into Jeep transmissions. It's expensive but better than stock.
  6. I can't say for sure but it seems like there are a lot of Ba10 specific things. A driveshaft may be one of those things. Driveshafts are easy to shorten. It may be cheap to just take the shaft to a shop and have them do that for you and balance it again. That is, if there's a shop anywhere near you that can do it.
  7. 23* isn't bad if you're used to the cold. But I imagine being in GA it rarely gets even close to that so you're not used to it. Wearing layers and keeping a couple of those chemical hand warmers in your pockets and shoes makes a huge difference. Best of luck getting what you need.
  8. I'd rather have a good caster angle. A Jeep doesn't drive very well if the caster angle is way off. On a stock height Jeep, the good caster and pinion should be together. As you lift more, the pinion angle will be further off. You can split the difference up to a point. But as you get really tall, everything gets out of line. You could rotate the Cs if you can cut and weld. Or you can compensate with a double ended double cardan driveshaft. That would be my preferred direction.
  9. I will get a tow rig for my Comanche once it's on 40s. But the Gladiator isn't enough truck to tow the load I will be towing over the mountain passes. I like to have a 20% or more margin on tow rating over the towed weight, just for safety. And while the top tow rating for the Gladiator is impressive for what it is, it's not enough. Same story with every other compact pickup. The new 1/2 ton pickups are all getting to some pretty significant numbers and may be enough. And with their diesel engines all cranking out 440+ pound feet, they may even work well over the passes with the turbo keeping the power levels up at altitude. The integrated brake controllers would make the run down the slope better, along with the big brakes they all seem to have. If you option them right, you can keep the cost under $50K retail, with probably a mid 40's out-the-door price. Of course, the heavy duty diesel trucks all have way more capacity than I need. But they would tow a couple of Comanches on a trailer with a full size camper in the bed and hardly break a sweat. But they get expensive quick. And a lot of the electronics on diesels from the last 15 years seems to be not 100% reliable. And like the early MJ, they switched around the whole engine management system before finally finding one that was good. So parts are expensive and sometimes unique to a model year (or less).

    Get Winter Tires!

    They're legal in Colorado.
  11. Always up for a few beers with other addicts. I grew up doing road trips with the folks and I love driving all over the place when I can. I learned how to navigate long before GPS even existed and I love finding my own way and enjoying the drive. I'm thinking that when my silver truck is on tons and 40s, I'll be building up my red one with a diesel on like 31's or 33's and turn it into a road trip truck, maybe dragging a popup or small camper, doing a tour of the US.
  12. Also, Denver west on I-70 to US-191 up to I-15 to Salt Lake City is a far more interesting drive than up I-25 to I-80. Besides, that takes you right next to Moab, which is interesting to see even if you don't stop to go Jeeping.
  13. Stop and say hi as you swing through Denver.

    Shifters

When I'm driving for pleasure, a manual makes it all so much better. I prefer to drive my car instead of riding in it. I really miss rowing through the gears in my old GTO winding through back country roads. However, when it comes to daily commuting in traffic, I prefer the automatic. All the stop and go, speed up and slow down, that you get driving in traffic makes a manual less fun. And while I have had a manual transmission with a 4 speed atlas in a rock crawling Jeep I used to own and I had fun with the 238:1 final drive ratio, I am building my silver MJ with an automatic because I like rock crawling with an automatic better.
  15. It's certainly spendy but it does look like it's worth it.
  16. Probably Yakima too. Any pictures of it open?

    RIP Neil Peart

    Rest in peace Neil.
  18. I think Rusty's has discontinued their brackets. I picked up a pair during their closeout sale and they appear to no longer be on the website.
  19. Might just be someone looking to buy back a Comanche they sold a while back. Or yeah, it may be stolen. Hard to say.
  20. I have the tools to make new AC hoses and crimp them properly if you're ever interested in rebuilding your AC.

    Buying a house!

There's actually a few houses that have been on the market for several months. It's as much of a buyer's market as it's going to get I suspect.

    Buying a house!

I'm getting started on my house hunt as well. I'm looking south, in and around Littleton since I work at the south end of Wadsworth. The prices seem to have leveled off the last year or two so it seems like the time to commit. Gotta get the loan approval and what not so I can jump in as soon as I find a house I want. It's also good that I only have a basic criteria for a house and if one seller becomes a pain I can move on to the next house. Good luck on your hunt.
  24. In the grand scheme of things I don't really care what kind of Jeep you're driving. If you're friendly and wave, I'll wave back. Even if you're in one of the Jeep "cars" like the new Cherokee or Renegade. It's about being friendly to other people who love Jeeps. If I wave first and they wave back, great. If they don't, it's no big deal. I don't pay attention to the "rules" about who should wave first. If you want to wave, wave. If you don't, don't. Who cares who goes first? The new Gladiator is as much a Jeep as any CJ, Wrangler, MJ, XJ, ZJ, WJ, FC, SJ, etc. It's solid axle front and rear and built by Jeep. It's as much a Jeep as my old J10. They're all different in their own way but they all share the Jeep lineage in one way or another. As far as the other Jeeps, you're much less likely to get a wave and I usually don't even notice them to wave first. But a friendly wave deserves a friendly response.

    Winch Mount

That Warn part number is just for a hidden hitch in the front. The grill guard/winch mount is no longer available new.
