Yah, the perches are at different widths. You'll have to torch them off and re-weld them for use in an MJ rear setup. The axle width and bolt pattern for MJ/XJ is the same so you are good to go there...

Lol, my "operating temp" is around 130... I just use the gauge to tell me when things aren't normal...

Hey All, I was reading my new issue of JP (November 2008) today and saw the article on page 66. It talks about the leaky fuel injectors that are starting to show up on Renix era engines and lists some part numbers (Bosch PN 02801580444) to replace them with. First off, what are your thoughts on this whole deal. I know that none of them on my two MJs are leaking at the moment... Second, If I do decide to go spend the $$$$ on 12 new injectors I'd like to try and "buy them in bulk" if there is any way to do so - considering when you buy them at the parts store, it is peacemeal and all. Do you guys know of any place that sells injectors "in bulk" or a good place online to get THESE injectors at? ( I know some people get the "aftermarket" high flow ones, not interested in them per say, I like my gas consumption just the way it is ;)) Thanks- Brent

This - to me - is the definition of why MJs are so cool. Parts are cheap and bringing one back to life can be a worthwhile experience. You'll have that thing looking great in no time - pretty much just needs a matching paint job now - Keep up the good work!

Yah, I knew about the whole high freq. stuff too, I just had a mental lapse.

Story goes that over the weekend I had a buddy do some TIG welding on my front end of the Jeep. I figured I would play it safe and disconnect the battery. While I was under the hood, I had the aftermarket CD player turned on in the truck cause we didnt have a stand alone radio in the garage. I didnt think that just disconnecting the neg. terminal on the battery would do anything to the turned on radio, after all it would act like a switch would and just shut it off, right? Well, I pulled the cable and we got the welding done, came out good too. Then I go to hook the battery back up to take off and head home and no radio. It kinda turns on, where the backlight for the screen lights up and then it dies. Any thoughts on what has happened? Is it toasted? I haven't done anything to try and fix the problem, for all I know there is a loose connection somewhere, weird for it to happen at this moment though and not in the last 3 years since its been installed. I have a Pioneer DEH-16 receiver. - Brent

What year XJ? I don't know if it matters or not, but someone might need to know to help diagnose the problem...

That is a Dana 35 there. Hope you didnt pay that much for it...

After looking into it some more, you should be able to swipe a tailgate handle from a first gen. S-10, S-15. I think they are the exact same part...

Whoever ran the mix design on that concrete sure screwed up - or there were problems with it's placement... - thats some bad cracking going on there... ;)

It its rusty enough, take a good look at the uni-frame and see if its any good or not. If its nice and crusty, there isnt much life left in the truck unless you plan on doing some major patching to the frame... Dana 44 rear ends are available on the comanche as an optional "metric ton package" from 1987-89. The more desireable AX-15 manual trans replaced the BA-10 in (1989 and 3/4) 1990.

Good Rule of Thumb for Jeep Axles: If it came from a 4 cyl Jeep it is 4.10 geared. If it came from a 6 cyl with Manual Trans it is 3.07, Auto Trans is 3.55. Again these are only rules of thumb. A quick removal of the cover and teeth count will verify. - Brent

... and THAT is why I hate road salt. They should clean up OK. Sandblasters work the best. It's gonna take some time though... Get them clean BEFORE you try to loosen any bolts!
