A few XJ to MJ inquiries
500 MJ replied to The_Slow_Norris's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Spicer U-Joints for the best results... I did the SYE kit on my '88. Smooth as glass with 5.5" lift SUA. I also did the '97+ conversion on my '90. Pretty easy to do once all of the parts are gathered for it... -
I'll take heed to that advice, thanks Guys!

Only one person on here owns one of these? :dunno: :hmm: Other opinions appreciated!!!! - Thanks shelbyluvv!

What are good brands of these? Looking at possibly buying one to use for the rest of my life and and to pass on once I'm gone... Any companies offer one that is guaranteed forever? Prices I should be expected to pay for it?

I could use both of the kunckles on the 2wd front - PO of my white one screwed up the brake mounting areas. The bolt holes are all wollered out... But you probably aren't too interested in messing with taking it all apart and shipping them... I wish I were closer - I would come over and get the front axle from you tonight. :wavey: Hope someone can use it. There are lots of guys up here in MI that pay good money for the 2wd fronts... :ack: On a side note - Project is looking good! ;) Can't wait to see how this one turns out. How well do the body lines line up with the rails the bed bolts go into taken away from under the bed? Take Care - Brent

Project "Eliminator"
500 MJ replied to 89eliminator's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Bumper pics look good. I like the attention to detail here! I would never have enough patience to cut and fill that section on the end. I'd like to hear your thoughts (after you have used it for awhile) on the receiver hitch. The way I do mine sets it flush to the back and you have to reach under the bumper to put the pin into the hole for the hitch... I didn't like the thought of leaving the hitch out there all by itself to get banged up or hit your knees against it... it also does hinder departure angles a bit... lol - Take Care - Brent -
I've almost owned the truck for a full year now... Only driven it about 450 miles so far... ;) But it IS coming along, sometimes projects just take time... While I was home a few weeks ago for the Thanksgiving Break from College I did end up getting the panels all fit to the truck, lined up and whatnot as well as getting a new windshield put on it. I learned while I had the old nasty windshield out that I do have some rust HOLES in the top of the roof from the other one leaking - Just what I needed. I cleaned them up the best I could and had the glass guy put the new one in. He said that they would be OK... But if anyone is going to scrap out an MJ and they live close to Michigan, cut the entire roof off of it before you do, right at the tops of the fenders and halfway up the doors. It would be easiest to replace the whole top now that I looked into it and saw how wavy the roof was on this one too, there is a good weeks worth of body work on that in itself... Anyway, here are some pics. Will be on the road soon. I'm looking into getting some stock foglights to finish out the setup, think that they would look good on there...

You can get those connectors from the parts stores, probably cheaper than the dealerships... Personally I clip off all of the good ones (and other electrical stuff) from vehicles before I take them to the recycler...

Ok, well, if I can get at least 3 more people to show interest I would be interested in making them up again to sell. (Around 5-6 people - I've had a few others contact me already - would warrant me to buy my own welder and starter set of fab tools ;) ... Time is another issue though... ) Best of luck with the rest of the build on yours, be sure to shoot me some pics or post them up.

I would just take the tailgate off and call it good! Nice find!

I'm sure I'll be down in K-Zoo again sometime over my Thanksgiving and Christmas break to visit my G/F again. I'll most likely be driving one of my MJ's down. I can't leave the truck with you for as long as you would like because I will need it for my DD, but I would be more than happy to stop in and let you get some measurements and whatever else you may need. I never had time to get my bumpers drawn up on AutoCAD. I left all the measurements at home when I came up to college at MTU. The D-Ring Tabs worked out great again, just like they did last summer. I did take lots of pictures of the bumpers when I built them, maybe you can use them somehow... The complete thread is here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12148 Let me know if I can be of any help by just stopping by and dropping my truck off for a day to let you guys measure stuff...Earliest I could get it down there for you would be Monday November 24th (at 9:00 or whenever you open). You can take all of the pictures of this old girl that you want (It's already got your bumper on the front): - Brent

Awesome - Puts my bumper to shame... I like it though! Are you planning using your receiver for a recovery point?

Should my overflow tank be "boiling"
500 MJ replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
One would think a skilled welder and a TIG machine could make one of these for less than $120... -
I'm getting bored up here and my friends are busy with school work. Wheeling is good and all but its best when you have friends to go with ya... So I'm hoping to get out this weekend sometime when they can come along... I'm keeping busy with small projects up here and bow-hunting in the evenings. I just bought a trailer to work on and fix up and I've been fiddling around with stuff on the MJ. I put the stock radio and tape deck back in it after I toasted the CD player the other day TIG welding on the Jeep. I like the look of the stock unit in the dash and I think its there to stay for good. Also, I pinstriped :D it the other day and painted the lettering on the tailgate... Patiently waiting to hit the trails... Anyone feel like making a trip up here? ;)
