Bah, in this economy, you should have no trouble finding a rust free XJ body and engine for $500 after you sell all of the other parts off of it you don't need... then you have a solid platform to build on as well as a good motor. :dunno:

Keep it - buy an MJ and swap all the good stuff off of it onto the MJ - then drive over the carcass with your new MJ monster truck

Messed with it some more today. I cleaned all the ignition parts up as well as the throttle body today and it didnt help anything. I figured I would go into town and start buying more new parts/sensors but before I took off I figured I would see how much gas I had in the fuel rail. So I hit the valve and it drained a bit off and then proceeded to try and start it. AND IT DID - Like it never had anything wrong with it at all. Ran just fine and smooth as glass. I was awestruck. Shut it off and tried it again - took right off. So I set there thinking what the in the world could be going on here. I let it idle while I did this and after about 5 minutes it started running rougher and eventually it died. This puzzled me more. So I tried to start it and it wouldnt go. Went back under the hood and drained the gas from the fuel rail again. Tried to start it and it took off and ran fine. So this has me thinking about what the culprit could be. Tomorrow I'll be swapping out my fuel rail and changing it with another one I have. I'm doing this to see if it could be the regulator. Also after I inspected things fruther, I noticed one of the fuel injectors has been replaced while the other 5 are the stock ones. It looks like it was a replacement for a stock part but I don't know how I tell if its the correct replacement or not. Would this be something to worry about or not? I'm getting closer - its taking some work though :banana:

The one I had worked fine until I took it out and never looked back ;)

x2 - there is no direct fit that I know of. Fab skills and time will be needed to make a different bed work, much less make one look good on the truck. :cheers:

Its in the factory harness, what update mod? Was this a recall or something?

Test for spark, if it has good pressure it has to be spark. Are you sure the CPS is seated properly, are you sure it's a Renix CPS? Yes, I installed it back in the top of the bellhousing with the correct bolts. Is there a gap that it needs to be adjusted at? I've never heard of any adjustment for them??? I am also sure it is a Renix CPS , it looked EXACTLY the same as the one I took out of the truck...

Sooo...I'm calling in an exorcist. I am pretty sure my truck is possessed. :evil: Fuel pump has good pressure and my gas is GOOD. I Put in a new mopar CPS this evening. Still having the problem with hard starting. Any more ideas?? Tomorrow I am going to go get plugs, wires, cap and rotor and try that route, also will clean the TB out like Ed described above - haven't gotten to that yet :ack:

Yep - they are special bolts. I've never seen them in ANY hardware store. :(

I'm referring to dfreeman16 - found out he has one laying in his garage about an hour away from where I live... I will look into checking the tank over to see where the problem is. I need to drive the truck home though before I get too crazy with it...

Yep, I replaced the O-Ring a few years back but I'll still check to make sure its not leaking there :thumbsup:

Who has the best deals out there on the net? Looks like prices range from about $120 to $180... I walked into the garage today and smelled gas. Further investigation showed that it was dripping down the frame of the truck. I'll need to drive the truck this weekend, after that I can take the tank out and confirm that the tank is bad. And I thought I was going to have a nice and relaxing spring break this year... :doh:

:thumbsup: Sometime in April I plan on being back down to the area to sign my lease for wherever I rent next year. Most likely I'll have the Blue MJ with me then. After that I couldnt tell you the next time that the Blue one will be in WI. Plans are for it to spend a year or two under the truck cover back home in Mid-MI until I buy my own place in WI and have a place for it there. I'll have the White one in WI in the period between me starting work in June and owning my own place - then the Blue one will be reunited with its kin.

How much money are you getting out of the whole accident ordeal? Might as well put it toward a good cause :wrench: Very nice truck!
