Can Spell Comanche (2/11)
-
Drill a couple holes through the bumper, bolt on your plate. If you want to get fancy, take a grinder and do some cutting. This bumper is DIY, you do all the assembling, welding and grinding. If you what something different, you can take out a grinder or torch and go at it. It's a great platform at a great price for those that have the ability to put it together.

Hey Everyone, We have been once again growing by leaps and bounds. Our sales have been a true blessing, however it has caused us to have to make some major changes. In order to get efficiencies up, we have had to switch to larger scale batch order processing. This means, we have been building large batches of each particular item in order to save time, which in return saves money. It has been quite the process around here. I know that many of you have probably already noticed, but I finally lost the battle for the Comanche parts we were selling. I have been trying to keep the line-up available, hoping it would not come to this, however the order numbers just are not there. Since we have offered MJ parts, we have sold 14 Rear Bumper, 1 set of Long bed Sliders and 3 sets of Short bed sliders. Since our batches include about 15 bumpers in a batch, it's easy to see that it's just not realistic to produce and sell these anymore. I feel bad, as we spent a good amount of time prototyping and producing jigs and we were one of the only options available. Thanks to those that supported our MJ product line, we have appreciated your business. I plan to leave the MJ rear bumper mounts available on our site for a little while at least. However, if you are on the fence about them, it's time to buy. If they don't sell, they will be discontinued as soon as the stock runs out. http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MJRMTS&Category_Code=DPL Needless to say: The MJ tail light box idea is going to be scraped as well.

Wanting metal Tail light boxes? Possible group buy?
brimy311 replied to brimy311's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The MJ was dropped off today, we might not get going on the Tail lights for a week to ten days. We are kind of backed up and the plasma on our CNC table died last friday :( So we lost 4 days of work waiting for the new one. -
MJ Rear Bumper Reviews...
brimy311 replied to Str8OuttaBallard's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just be aware that Powder coating is not a good coating option for salty areas! Once powder coating is chipped, it will rust underneath and flake off. We build our products to be used and abused and for that reason alone, we don't put inferior coatings on them. For the same $150 price listed as cost for powder coating (which is extremely high!), take the bumper to a Line-x dealer and have a real rugged and long lasting finish on it! As side note, our bumper has been selling for $195 for some time now. I would imagine before too long it will be going up to around $225-230. ***EDIT**** Someone emailed me this thread, I didn't realize it was nearly a year old :shake:! Sorry for btt'in an old thread  -

Well then, we are going to need a more interest. -

We are going to either use 4" rounds and 2" side marker or 2x6 ovals, 2.5" turn/reverse and 2" side marker. Readily available, easy to find and won't ever be discontinued. -

We don't make stuff that looks like crap, so if we don't like the do-able designs, we will scrap them before we even offer them. -

There's 15. Let me try an make some arrangements to get an MJ down here. But like I said intially, this might not grow legs until the first of Feb. If anyone else is interested, keep adding your name to the list. The plan will be: 1.) We will develop a prototype. Once the prototype is done, we will post pictures and such. 2.) Once we have landed on a final design, we will set up a way for people to pre-order these. 3.) We will put a cut off date for the orders to be in by. 4.) Once that date has passed, we will put the batch into production and start processing orders. 5.) You receive them, Install them. -

We don't drill them. We make the design, put a sheet of steel on the CNC Plaz table and wait. It's not that we "can't" or that it is "harder" it's that we only want to make one design, one part, in bulk. Saves time and money, thus saving everyone $$. -

Probably not. We will be building these in bulk and not customizable. That picture was someone's photoshop. They won't be square, they will match the lines. I won't make them if they look like crap, we do have high standards of our work! The only other thing we "might" offer for MJ's would be Tcase skids. The market for MJ stuff is very very small, so it's hard to offer much for them. I am thinking that the back flange won't be big enough to fit the 4" rounds. We will end up using whatever fits the best and looks the best. I am not sure what we are going to make. If we make bed side guards, they will only be for Short beds. I need to get my hands on the MJ before I can say for sure if it's something we even want to mess with. -

This is why I am putting out a feeler and not just making them. I understand this logic completely, but I feel I owe it to those that have asked to at least put a feeler. Trust me, we understand the size of this market! Since we prototyped sliders for these trucks, we maybe have sold 3-4 sets. -

Time, effort and money. We will end up spending 2 days worth of time for Daryl and I to make the design, make a prototype, finalize the design and program the machines to make them. So we will end up investing a good amount of money into making a prototype. This becomes not worth it, when we don't sell them. -

I won't make and sell something that is not good looking. If I can't find a way to match the body lines in an acceptable manor, we won't make them. We don't have the cability to make a 6" radius, so it will have to be a combination of bends to get close to the body line. I have some ideas, and looks like it might end up with oval lights instead of the 4" rounds (like our 97up XJ tail lights). Few details: They would be made out of 1/8" steel. Made in a two piece design that would utilize the factory mounts. The lights will be readily available truck style lights. The orientation is yet to be determined. -

We use a $30k CNC Plasma to cut the parts and a $36k 60 ton CNC brake press to build these things. They are far from chintzy and built high quality. $145 a pair is CHEAP for what we have into building them. However, I was thinking about doing this as a favor to the MJ community. No one else is making stuff for ya! It's no sweet off our backs if you guys don't want them
