You might enjoy this thread: Ok, I'm done being off topic now

It is just crazy. It is cool to hear the number of people that have stepped up to help though.

You'll fit in well here. There's quite a few Eagle Scouts on the forum.

84-86 XJ/MJ oddities to be mindful of.

I like that theory a lot. Makes a lot of sense. I agree that the brochure is 84-85. -
86 MJ 2.5 AX5 Clutch Fork Issue

The 2.5L doctor beat me here I see. I was just going to say that this site can host photos too, so there's no need to use imgur unless you prefer to. -

Also available on AMC Eagles. Here is a couple more photos of those wheels: The second photo also shows the 84-85 Wagoneer 21 slot grille and the offset Jeep lettering. -
Any parts store should be able to make you some. That said, I’d go with what limey said and upgrade.

I just try to remember what I’ve got. For my MJ stuff that works fine, but I’m pretty much down to my NOS gate, tail lights, and a few other odds and ends. My Eagle stuff on the other hand is a mess. Same with the 40 stuff and tractor stuff. I like the sheets idea.

This does seem like an electrical issue, but I also wonder if it could be something with the rod going to the ignition switch. Do you have a tilt column by chance? If so, see if it does it if you change the angle of the column. The PO of my Eagle would always have a hard time getting the car to crank or shutoff, but that's because he had the column all the way up. I have the column more straight, so I don't have that issue. I wonder if you are having a similar issue where the ignition switch is getting turned on and off somehow. Otherwise, how do the battery connections look?

I came here to say what the other two said

Your best bet might be something like Bring A Trailer. If I were you, I’d get some miles on it to dry to determine whether or not the issue is fixed before selling it.

Glad to see that these are about ready for production. I’ll probably need a set

1987 Comanche - purchase questions. 18k miles

It is weird. Could it be because it seems to be an early one? Maybe AMC didn’t think of having it or accidentally made a run without the diagram? -

They can be easily swapped. It only something like 6 or 8 screws. I think it should have the 10 slot grille, but I’m not 100% sure. -
It’s not a unibody, so a little bit different, but in my dad’s shop, most cars get full floor pans, from the firewall to the back of the trunk. You can, or use to be able to, but that whole piece for a 40 Ford. My dad recently did a 70 GTO that was from Florida that got quarters, doors, fenders, a trunk lid, outer wheelhouses, the trunk pan, a hood, and a roof skin because it was rusty. The interior floors were fixable and GM A-body rockers are galvanized, so they were fine. It’s crazy what moisture and salt does to cars.

That 91 is sweet. I’d love to add a 2 door XJ to the fleet at some point.

Welcome to the forum! I completely agree with this statement. New cars are expensive and when it’s getting work, you’re stuck without a car. If you’ve got several older cars, your initial investment is less and you’ll have something to drive when one of them is out of commission.

New AX15, very chirpy but not the TOB
89 MJ replied to brucecooner's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Exactly! You might want to look at RCV axle shafts or ZJ CV shafts. Check out DeXJs on YouTube for reasoning why. He’s got a few videos on it. -
I was going to tag you in this because of the color and stripes. You beat me to it.

An upgraded shaft really isn’t necessary. It seems like front axles get broken more than driveshafts, but a used shaft you buy might not be any better, so getting a new one makes sense. Nothing wrong with overkill either. I don’t like doing things twice, so I fully support putting on the best stuff you can. -
Looks great! I'm sure its good knowing that you should have it wrapped up before the snow flies.

A couple that I like to have on as background noise are: Oceanliner Designs: usually talks about shipwrecks of ships like the Titanic and ships like that. Pole Barn Garage: he's a complete hack, but entertaining. His 64 Lemans series is a decent, realistic restoration that's pretty good. He's similar to Vice Grip Garage, but less corporate and has less time where nothing is going on. Vice Grip Lodge: Vice Grip Garage's other channel. It reminds me a lot more of the early VGG videos with some of the backyard repairs, but its mostly farm work on this channel.

MJ claiming to be some sort of preproduction prototype?
89 MJ replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This is why I was skeptical too. Even by this point, AMCs only model left, the Eagle, was being built in Canada. I think Kenosha was being used for the Renaults. But the 2.5L plant was still in Kenosha and this truck has one. -

They’ve grown on me over the years. But the only color I like to see them with is red. Doesn’t matter if it’s an MJ, XJ, or YJ, they look decent as long as the Jeep is red.
