If you change the title to the VIN, I or a couple others can get you a build sheet and date.

A recall that a dealer would just laugh at you for. Even though there are recall O2 sensors left lol.

Sorry...I have been bad about it lately. I blame the holidays.

Always fun stuff. I use the Chrysler gasket with the gasket maker from Chrysler as well and sometimes it will still leak.

Even more pro tip, don’t snug it down past 55inch pounds of torq or the cover will crack. But how in the hell does that engine not look like an oily mess?

96 XJ with Wagoneer header panel - GA

2.5L too. -
Depends. The air box for 86 is different than the later years as is it’s vac harness. The mounts for the AC/alt combo for 88-90 are a bit uncommon to find. The valve cover if it has the AMC logo is better than the aftermarket crap and a neat piece to at least save. I’d say to snag other 2.5L specific stuff like the engine harness and TBI set up but I’m not sure if they’re in a demand or not.

When C10's are in a metric ton of abundance that you can make sacrifices like this.

Oh easily. Since you’ll be replacing the glass, get some sprayable white lithium grease and go nuts on all the moving parts.

Make sure to lube up the regulator assembly. That will help with rolling the window up and down smoothly. But you probably need new felts for the window. There’s also a tube in the door that is used to for lubrication of the regulator as well.

More or less the interior has been just sitting for probably a few years covered in dust. But I don’t know much About the rare commodities of ZJs either and I know a few of you guys own one or two so I thought id ask.

I can still order spring clamps new. I think I might have a few laying around as new.

Jeep comanche 2.5 1987 2wd
eaglescout526 replied to Cagr87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ok run down: 2.5Ls only got the AX4, AX5, AW4 auto trans(rare) and the A904 as transmission options. As far as T-case options go, a NP207 and NP231 can be had. I’m sure the other ones can be had as well but those two are the only ones that would’ve been equipped with a 2.5L from the factory. -
You want the worm screw type right? Not the factory style clamps that you use a channel lock for?

Jeep comanche 2.5 1987 2wd
eaglescout526 replied to Cagr87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes. There’s a couple ways you can do it. If you can find the extension adapter for the AX5 or 4 that mates to the T-case, then you’ll just have to swap your extension housing out with the adapter, then you’ll be able to mount the T-case. Or find someone selling an AX5/231 combo so it’ll be a direct swap in. -
I guess my next question is should I snag any of the pieces?

Jeep comanche 2.5 1987 2wd
eaglescout526 replied to Cagr87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No they did. It’s a bit harder to find them but you’ll want to look out for an AX5 with a 231. They’re just harder to find because we live in a sea of 4.0’s where they are practically everywhere. Probably 1 in every 10 MJs or XJs made was probably a 2.5L with 4wd or 2wd. -
Neat info! I had a feeling it was a very early thing that Chrysler offered but wasn’t sure if someone went through the effort to be different and painted the interior. I’d pull what I could but wouldn’t be sure if there’s a market for ZJ interior.

I knew I forgot to snag a pic of something. It didn’t have anything in the engine bay so it’s tough to say

That’s mighty tempting. I don’t care what size it is. It’s probably a large since the guy says he wears an XL. -
Diesel Cherokee Cheap
eaglescout526 replied to Torq_Shep's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Oddly enough the 2.1L Renault did get the AX5 as its only transmission and the bell house for it is also uncommon. -
Thread size/pitch on rear cab nuts.

You can get a box of those nuts in various sizes from Amazon. They’re like nameplate nuts but I forget their actual name. -
