CRUISER'S MOSTLY RENIX TIPS TRANSMISSION CONNECTOR REFRESHING OCTOBER 30, 2015 SALAD 13 COMMENTS Over near the transmission dipstick tube are 2 rather large connectors. One is black and goes to the NSS and the gray connector goes to the transmission itself . These 2 connectors carry all the info between TPS, TCU, NSS, speed sensor, and transmission solenoids. Unplug each one, visually inspect for corrosion or bent pins, spray them out with electrical contact cleaner and plug them back in. Additionally, if your Jeep is an ’87 to ’90 Renix, it’s always a good idea to reach up under the glovebox area and unplug the connector to the TCU and spray it out along with the receptacle of the TCU. While you’re there, find the fuse right in that area for the TCU. Remove it and spray out it’s receptacle and clean any corrosion from the fuse.

Put anti-seize on the front skid plate fasteners because you'll end up removing it to perform repairs.....

It's free stuff that will cost a fortune in time, frustration, and money.

Those relays prompted this write-up years ago: CRUISER'S MOSTLY RENIX TIPS CONNECTOR AND RELAY/RECEPTACLE REFRESHING OCTOBER 30, 2015 SALAD 22 COMMENTS I suggest unplugging EVERY electrical connection in the engine bay you can find, whether engine related or not, and spraying it out with a good electronics cleaner, visually inspecting the terminals making sure they haven’t retracted into the plastic holder, and then plugging it back together. There’s a critical 10-pin connector for the front lighting system located in front of the air cleaner and behind the left headlight assembly. Don’t miss that one. Also be sure that the connectors to the ballast resistor mounted near the air cleaner housing are clean and tight. ALL of the relays should be removed, the terminals wire-brushed until shiny, and the receptacles sprayed out with contact cleaner. Then plug them back in. I do this on every Renix Jeep I purchase or work on for someone else.

That's high, unless your gauge is inaccurate. Verify with an IR gun at the thermostat housing.

A rare Alfa Romeo Sport Sedan. 1978 model. 2.0L DOHC aluminum engine with mechanical fuel injection. Torsion bar front suspension DeDion rear transaxle 5 speed close ratio. 4 wheel discs. Rears are inboard. 50/50 weight distribution with little unsprung weight. A real sleeper. I spotted this gem at my house.

HO exhaust manifold on a Renix
cruiser54 replied to JMO413's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not true at all. Bolts right up. HO exhaust manifold on Renix As far as exhaust, you can use the Renix exhaust manifold and be fine. If you want to use the HO exhaust manifold, you must go with an HO headpipe and screw your O2 sensor into that headpipe. Standard Renix harness is plenty long to do so. A bung can be welded into the HO manifold to accept the EGR tube also. -

can't go wrong. I've got a set from him in one of my MJ with a 4.0 and a set in my gC with the 5.2. Don't gamble on FleaBay stuff. -
Need help with finding fuel injectors
cruiser54 replied to jdwillys's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
jhc7399 on cherokee forum sells them refurbished. -
I never did the write-up on this as one part number needed became NLA. What really helps is having a good seal at that hay0okie riveted on strip that attaches to the A pillar. Later XJs had one of different design without the gaps between the rivets. You can seal it with a silicone and add trim screws. Another thing they did was add an air barrier as in the photo. NLA from Mopar.

Renix fuel system.
cruiser54 replied to Wounded_Fighter's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No. Poor design manifold with little flex in the exhaust system.
