  1. Isn't that just a Dana 30 inner axle seal? Searching for that might find you what you need. Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk
  2. Do you have an electric aux fan on there? That helped me keep the 4.0 cool (along with making sure the shroud was good). I wonder if you somehow have too much vacuum for the WJ booster so it tries too hard and never lets go.
  3. Gotta love the simple fixes!
  4. That is an auto-locker (also called a lunchbox locker). It will lock the front when it receives power from the driveshaft, but should unlock under deceleration. Since it's in the front, you won't notice it except for a little ratcheting noise on sharp turns most likely. In 4wd in the snow, it can take some getting used to, but I loved mine when I had it and learned to easily control it with the throttle pedal. :)
  5. Dude! It's been huge! Also the baby is only just turned 1 and demands a truck ride every couple of days. :) Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk
  6. Oh yeah, almost forgot. My wife was the big motivator to get this done. She was tired of the lights being the way they were and bought me a Milwaukee soldering iron to motivate me to get it done. She wanted to make sure I posted up about it so that appropriate credit goes where it's due. :) Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk
  7. Finally got around to the b pillar lights. Here's how the old lights were: They dangled like that because the plastic clips had broken off and they wouldn't stay in their holes anymore. They've been dangling like that for most of the time I've had it. They worked, but looked kindof bad just dangling there. While poking around the wrecked XJ, I found these clips under the front door sill trim: I thought they'd be perfect to ease wiring up the lights. I chose black for ground, yellow for the door switch (matching the existing wires), and the black with a blue stripe for the hot power. So, I wired one side up to the euramtec lights I had ordered months ago and had sitting in the "to be installed" pile and the other side to the Jeep. Plugged it in and tested it out and it's all working! Woohoo! It looks much better too. It just took a dremel to widen the hole about 1/4 inch. Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk
  8. I see one short bed, always parked but clean, about 3 miles from my house. It's always out in the driveway, but it's always clean, so I know it gets driven. Probably an older person's daily. Completely stock. About once a month, I see @JordanTMiller running around with his. (and I know he has two) When I was commuting to work, before the COVID lockdown, I would see one almost every day...it was in bad shape inside and out, but it was always running and driving. I think that's all four MJs that I know of in Spokane, other than my own.
  9. You should be able to just jack it up and throw some jackstands on the front axle. Leave the jeep in 2wd and have a buddy turn the front driveshaft by hand and start seeking. :)
  10. Fixed the punctuation. Is the rest of the body setup as original? (closed loop cooling? renix stuff?). Pre-90 is the renix years, newer than that is the HO years (using a chrysler ecu, rather than a renix one). I think a number of things changed on the body wiring at 97 and up as well (since the interior and exterior design changed a bit). I would guess you're probably looking at some tracing and splicing wires either way. Oh yeah...and for ECUs, most of us are running the stock ones. I haven't heard of a ton of failures on them. I know for some junkyards here, you can buy a whole setup of engine, harness and ECU on newer engines. If it were me in your situation, I'd probably work with the full harness from the 99 and use an ECU from the same year from a junkyard or something and just splice where necessary to get the body electronics working after the engine is running.
  11. For the most part, there is no aftermarket as the XJ rear lights are completely different. We're stuck with junkyard finds. Most of us, if we find them in the JY, hoard them, so some others might help find it. Otherwise, like Pete said...post up, comment on some of your favorite builds here, and the classifieds will open up (and more people will see stuff there as "for sale/wanted", as the rest of the forums are more for general discussion.
  12. My guess is that it hooks into something under the kick panels. I'd probably put some tone generator or something on the visor wire and start looking for wires under the dash to find it.
  13. Hey, how do you like those tube doors? I've been eyeing that same model and I've been curious how well it works/fits.
  14. Woo! IRO's 3 link is stupid easy to install. I love it!
  15. I mean, that's just a poor strap job (strap to the axles, not the body and definitely not to the body of something on top of something else with compressible springs). Yikes! I'm glad that thing didn't slide off on the road somewhere.
  16. Short answer: yes. An auxiliary electric fan will help the engine stay cooler by providing myoe airflow over the radiator. Make sure everything is properly shrouded. My MJs previous owner had set it up on a manual switch, since I didn't have AC on the truck, and there was a good difference between how cool it stayed with and without it at low speeds (doesn't help above like, 50) Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk
  17. Welcome! You came from reddit!!! I can't wait to hear about the truck as you work on it and enjoy it :) Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk
  18. Pulled the hood prop holder off of my XJ and used it to replace the broken one on my MJ. It's not much, but every little fix makes me love my Jeep just a little more. Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk
  19. Welcome! Looks like a great truck and a great platform to clean up!
  20. A lot of things, but the main thing right now is the B pillar lights. I have the Euramtec lights, I just...haven't gotten to it. Maybe this weekend.
  21. Sweet! What size is it? Being smaller than the stock one a bit, I hear the steering feels a lot better.
