If this has been covered sorry
dunnc1991 replied to banshee's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You want to move the discs onto a D35? -
Just got my drop brackets installed. However, I can't get my factory lower control arms (temporary) to slide back in. Anyone run into this? Almost looks like the sleeve in the bushing is hitting. Not sure if some grease would help it along. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What years of steering column work in a '91?
dunnc1991 replied to Incommando's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Interested as well, planning to throw a 93 tilt column in my 91. Haven't messed with it at all yet. -
Anything will work with enough money, as far as bolt in, not so much.

Yes that's what I used if you look in the link above. Hadn't read through your link yet

I've never had one, but I feel like a tandem axle wouldn't be all that great off road. Again, no experience with this at all. I think if you ran a single 3500# axle you'd have plenty of carrying capacity and still should have enough room and maintain more maneuverability.

These would be a good start http://www.jcroffroad.com/product/XJRK-MT.html

Got some more work done. Pulled the d30 from the donor and pulled the straight beam from the MJ. Also started installing the RE drop brackets. Hope to get some time this week to finish the axle install. Then I plan on doing floors and hopefully get it on the road in the next few weeks.

Why are you yelling about it?

Got a pic, could probably identify fairly easy.

I hope you plan on cutting to clear those 33's

Dana 30 and 35 to dana 44 help

Yea, in a rear axle.... HP is stronger for front axles. That's what your article says -
Don't lift it 6 inches. Not being an @$$, but from your posts it seems like you're new to this and going with a tall lift can get messy quick if you don't know what you're doing. Just stay spring under, it'll save on headaches until you get more experience. As far as a good lift, I prefer piecing mine together. I can usually find gently used parts for dirt cheap.

Spring perches would have to be welded on in the correct spot. Factory gears should 3.07, so you won't find a match in an 8.8. I'd look for one with 4.10's and either regear your D30, or find one with 4.10's. There's not really too much to it. Spacers to get the width correct. I personally wouldn't do a truss running 31's, but it wouldn't hurt anything to run one. You also need to get the adapter yoke to mate your driveshadt to the axle. There may be more I'm forgetting, but I'm sure others will chime in. Tree'd ^ The only thing with above is that you could reuse the factory spring plates, which already have the shock mounts on them.

Dana 30/35 gear swap help
dunnc1991 replied to Herada12's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you're running 40's those axles are going to hate life. I wouldn't spend the money on a 44, people think they're gold, I think they're mediocre at best. If you're looking for something to get you by, I'd run an 8.25 or 8.8 just due to them being plentiful. I'd look into full widths or having some cut down to keep the factory stance, especially if you're going to wheel hard. Just my opinion -
I've got a soft spot for boosted Japanese cars, so I'm looking forward to this

Finally getting some warm temps here. Got a few small things done. Also found a deal on tires I couldn't pass up. BFG KM's (my favorite tire) 32x11.50x15 in damn good shape for just a touch over $250 5 minutes from my house. Can't beat used tire prices.

I can see doing turn signals, but KC driving lights.... That makes no sense to me
