http://www.maxxima.com/products/product_detail/451/Hybrid-Series-LED-Oval-StopTailRear-Turn-and-Backup-Light.html I took the part number and shopped around, I found the best deal on Ebay.
-
They are a hybrid LED, the outer edge is a backup light.
-
There may be some stuff in my build thread.
-
I made corner armor out of 3/16" plate then mounted LEDs in them.
-
I didn't mind manual steering when I had 31s. Even with 33s it wasnt bad on the street, offroad was rough without it though. Luckily its a simple swap that you can always add later if you want it.

Gearing Question For A 4 Banger Mj....
mnkyboy replied to pettus253's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sounds like stock late model XJ axles, the rear is soa but the perches are in the wrong spot so you will need to move them to fit your MJ. -
Gearing Question For A 4 Banger Mj....
mnkyboy replied to pettus253's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I ran 3.55 with 33s for a few years, it sucked but it went down the road. Mines a stick shift, I couldnt imagine driving like that with an auto. I went to 4.88 and its much better, I'm currently going up in tire size so I'm going to 5.38. -

I have been getting ready for NAXJA's NWfest so not alot of progress on the MJ. I took my daily driver XJ but didnt wheel it, I had an awesome time but really wished the MJ had been ready. Today I spent a little time in the garage and got the AX15 mounted up.- 798 replies

Nice to see another 4 banger.
-
Shouldnt be that hard to find an AX4 or AX5. Even one from a wrangler will work, you would just need to drill it for MJ/XJ clocking unless you want the Wrangler clocking. Too bad your not close by, I have a couple of them sitting around.
-
Some 2.5l autos came stock with 4.56 gears, the stock axles can only go 4.88 so much bigger then a stock size tire and you won't be able to achieve proper gearing without an axle swap.
-
It would probably swap but its gonna be a 3spd 904 trans, personally I wouldnt wish a 2.5l/auto combo on anyone.
-
JD2 benders are popular and start just under $300 plus the cost of whatever dies you want, I use a JMR bender which I believe is a little more but its a very nice bender.

Spring Perch, Please Support Or Reject My Theory
mnkyboy replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Should be able to easily do it in a day, the axle can be ready to go. Slap it in there adjust it, tack it then take it apart just enough to get in there to weld it. Pretty much just need to pull the u bolts out of the way to finish the welding, then bolt it back down and your done. -
Basic tube benders aren't all that expensive, its the dies and accessories that add up. To get started I would buy a manual tube bender and a 1 3/4" die, this will do most projects.

Spring Perch, Please Support Or Reject My Theory
mnkyboy replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I typically put the axle in with no welds and the u bolts barely tight, then you can move the axle on the perches to make all your adjustments before you weld. Once its perfect you can tack it then drop the axle out to finish the welds. -
If DOM is out of your budget you can get away with HREW tube for non structural parts.
-
I just did mine, it was pretty easy. If you can handle a clutch job the seal will be no problem..

I just upgraded mine to a 95 wrangler cover, now I don't have to worry about blowing my fill cap off while I'm out smoking 4.0ls. -

Mnkyboys 89 Comanche project
mnkyboy replied to mnkyboy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Havent touched the MJ since my last post so today I decided to tackle the inertia ring issue. For anyone wondering laying under an engine block and clearancing it with a diegrinder is not a good time. I ended up taking off more then I originally thought but it fits fine, I also installed the new Centerforce clutch disc and the pressure plate. Now I can bolt up the trans and install the CPS.- 798 replies

Power To Manual Steering?
mnkyboy replied to anti-christ-comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had manual steering on my MJ. adding powersteering is one of the best mods I have done, I would never go back. Besides the manual boxes are typically quite a bit more expensive then the power ones and harder to find.- 7 replies
