  1. Got my perches yesterday, I'm pretty close to being able to get the axles under the truck. I also bought some stuff to freshen up the engine when I put the new cam in it and have been working on figuring out the MPI swap. I should be able to run the engine stand alone so I'm gonna leave most of my stock wiring intact, should simplify things.
  2. I originally swapped on a 2.5l pump, currently I have one off a 4.0l XJ on my 2.5l. Bolted right up.
  3. Thats pretty cool, my brother has an antique SUN motor tester sitting in the shop. I guess they are pretty collectable.
  4. IMO my short box has a little too much wheel base, a long box would be even worse. If it were mine I would bob both ends of the bed and shorten the frame or cut the rear frame off and link the rear to shorten the wheel base some.
  5. Sounds like a big project. just curious, have you looked into swapping an inline 6 into an 86? It takes a bit of modification to get one into an 86 since they never came with the I6, I imagine you are gonna have similar issues with your build.
  6. As far as I know the Block and head never changed.
  7. I tend to buy alot of my parts from the steel yard.
  8. Luckily for me I have an entire 95 YJ for parts.
  9. The flywheel is different between the Chrysler and renix systems whether its a 2.5l or a 4.0l. I'm actually getting ready to do this swap, I have an entire 95 YJ engine, wiring, and computer. I havent laid out the wiring yet but it looks fairly straight forward, the MPI harness looks pretty stand alone with only a few wires tieing into the vehicle harness.
  10. Mine with the 2.5l 4 spd had manual steering, the box was fairly expensive and hard to find. I ended up swapping a power steering setup onto my 2.5l using a steering box from a 4.0l XJ, it bolted right up so any option for a 4.0l rig should work for you aswell.
  11. I'm sure that has alot to do with it,the rear of my MJ is alot lighter then an XJ. I just need an adjustable valve.
  12. I have a D44 with disc brakes, late model dual diaphragm setup, and deleted LSV with a late model XJ prop valve. On the road it seems to stop pretty well but on gravel it can get a bit sketchy, just touch the brake pedal and the truck wants to go into a drift. An adjustable prop valve is on my to do list. But as I said thats with a deleted LSV.
  13. I'm planning to do a MPFI conversion when I put in the cam, from what I've read the MPFI computer should be ok with it. I also got an adjustable MAP sensor with it in case it needs some tuning. The cam is a Mopar performance stage 3 "purple" cam, I got it from a friend who found it NOS somewhere. I don't think they are available anymore. The header is a pace setter I got off a YJ. Hopefully everything combined will wake up the little 2.5 a bit, I'm also putting in 5.38 gears which should help too.
  14. I have an AX4 which is a 4spd manual, basically an AX5 minus 5th gear. AW4 is the auto. I can keep an eye out for another AX15, I come across them for cheap from time to time, a few months ago we had 3 or 4 of them sitting in the shop.
  15. Those are kinda handy when they work correctly.
  16. I swapped the Bosch yellow tops into my Renix XJ, didn't seem to make any difference.
  17. I see, well we may have an engine but I will have to see. Looks like my brother has already sold off all the AX5s but once my AX15 goes in I will have an AX4.
  18. That samurai was a lot of work. I will have to check with my brother and see what all we have. Most likely 2.5l AX5 and 231. Why are are you wanting a swap, is something wrong with what you have now?
  19. That's not too far, I used to live off Sunnyside. I work in Portland off airport way. We are currently building two 2.5l YJs at my shop in Kalama, both are getting complete drivetrain swaps so there's all kinds of parts.
  20. Where are you at? I've got a few 2.5ls and some ax4/5s laying around the shop. Update. Worked out the credit card a little and have some boxes in the mail, hopefully I can get the new axles under the truck here soon.
  21. We will be neighbors, i live in Kalama which is just north of Vancouver but I work in Portland.
