This area of the board is not very active, I refer most people to the NAXJA NW chapter for local stuff.

Mnkyboys 89 Comanche project
mnkyboy replied to mnkyboy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Havent had much time to play with the MJ lately, today i was able to reseal the oil pan and replace the rear main seal then move onto the inertia ring set up. I got out the bathroom scale and compared weights, the inertia ring add roughly 9.5 lbs to the flywheel. i installed my adapter pilot bushing, this will allow me to go from the 2.5L flywheel to a 93 and up AX15. here's the old pilot next to the new one. and installed Everything was going smoothly till i bolted it on,the guy who made the ring made it to have 0.015-0.030" clearance with the engine block. apperantly his block was cast a little different then mine so there is a clearence issue. should be an easy fix though. I also got the engine most of the way back together and got most of the engine wiring installed, now i need to start putting the vehicle and engine harnesses together. hopefully i can get it to fire up soon.- 798 replies

They changed around 90. The early ones have a bolt on bracket and the later ones are all cast into the knuckle. -

I did a bit of research on the swap, there is almost no information on swapping MPI onto a 2.5l but there is lots of info on swapping the 4.0l injection onto a 4.2l which is a very similar swap.- 798 replies

Here is the VSS You need an adapter to adapt it to the stock speedometer cable, the renix jeeps with cruise control have a speed sensor behind the guages that uses the correct adapter, you could probably get one from a speedometer shop but the stock ones are easy to find at the junk yard.- 798 replies

Its more of a Renix vs. HO problem. The TBI doesnt really matter, I currently have a 4.0l Renix cluster in the truck. I am planning to run the Renix senders for the dash and I will also plumb in any senders/sensors that the MPI requires,so some sensors may get doubled up. As for the speedometer, the early MPI Wranglers up to about 93 used a pass through speed sensor with a cable speedometer. So I will have the speed sensor for the computer but can keep the stock guage.- 798 replies

Assortment Of Questions Regarding My 2.5L
mnkyboy replied to BryceOJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Havent looked at one in a while but I think they interchange. Only issue with the 4.0l pump is the reservoir, it may interfere with the stock air box. I don't have any of the stock stuff on mine so I can't confirm but it looks like they would interfere with each other. Originally I had a 2.5l pump with a reservoir from a BMW, it started having problems so I swapped in a 4.0l one I had laying around and its been that way ever since. -

So far it looks fairly easy. I should only need to hook up a few wires to make the engine run, most of the work should be tying the MPI system into my stock wiring and gauges.- 798 replies

They worked great for me, I was half tempted to hook my new full width axles to them and keep running them but I want to change things up with the new set up.- 798 replies

FED EX dropped off some 4 banger goodness today. I got a Centerforce clutch disc ( #383824) for the AX15 swap and a 2.5l MPI flywheel with a custom inertia ring installed on it.- 798 replies

My Android has been having problems with the full site too, it locks up unless I use the mobile site.

The 4 ports is what I use as well.

I had the same issue on my old XJ, I put In some LT1 injectors. A few hundred miles later I lost a cylinder, traced it back to the ECU were I found the transistor that I'm guessing pulsed the injector on the dead hole had let the smoke out. I put in a new ECU and a fresh set of bosch yellow tops and never had another issue.

We will see once its back together. It did pretty good before, on the trails it had no problem keeping up with more powerful rigs but I didnt like how hard I had to run it to keep up on gravel roads and open spaces. I'm hoping that the latest engine mods help, I'm also going from 4.88 to 5.38 gearing which will help but I also plan to move up to a 35" to 37" tire. If I'm not happy with it ive got some Garrett T3s laying around, should be easy to turbo once I have MPFI.- 798 replies

Between family in from Alaska, mothers day, and everything else I had going on I have got as much done as I wanted. I did get a few minutes to work on the engine a little, the cam and lifters are in the block so I can work on getting the engine together then onto the MPI conversion. here's the little 2.5l all tucked in for the night.- 798 replies

Its amazing what people will pay for MJs in different parts of the country. At my shop I have a CC members MJ, it has a complete late model swap (inside, outside, and drivetrain), it has the same RK 3 link, D44s front and rear geared with ARBs,ECT.......you get the idea... He had it up for sale a while back for about half what this trucks bid is at and had almost no interest.
-
That was RK steering, IRO copied it. IIRC RK has quit making it.

$10,000 yugo wheeler could be more fun then a $10,000 MJ mall crawler.
