  1. Slight change of plans with the build. I got a call today, my buddy was at a local Pick n Pull and he stumbled across a fairly clean 91 2.5l MJ and wanted to know if I needed anything. I now have a complete 91 MPI harness and a few other goodies, he should be dropping everything off on Sunday.
  2. Not really that simple, the ports don't line up so to do it correctly you would need the HO cylinder head as well. Then you would need to adapt the renix TPS to the HO throttle body, and rework the throttle cable to work on the other side of the TB and adapt the HO fuel rail. IIRC there's some other stuff that has to be done as well to use the HO parts with the Renix system.
  3. Somehow you have been very lucky, ive seen lots of bad turbos, injectors, flat cams, and damaged lifters in the ALH TDIs. Couldn't begin to count how many I've torn into.
  4. IIRC there is a build thread on NAXJA where a guy put or is putting a TDI in his XJ.
  5. My MJ has been perched on a car before. I had a GMC Jimmy that I was scrapping so I had to flex on it before it left.
  6. How To Modify Your Renix Intake:
  7. It wouldnt be hard to adapt the Renix TB to accept a tube like the HO TB. As far as snorkels a conventional snorkel would get torn off on the trails I run so I would do a cowl set up.
  8. With this you can compare different ratios and setups side by side to see the differences. http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html
  9. Ya, what eagle said. I always told people that my AX4 was a 3spd with overdrive, I rarely ever used 4th so there is no way you could use a 5th gear. 33s with the 4.88 wasnt bad, I felt like I could run a 5th gear but didnt really need one. Really my truck with 3.55s and 33s would surprise people,it was gutless but not as bad as you would expect.
  10. Got a new toy ordered, once it comes I should be able to build my crossmember and see where everything is gonna sit for the front 3 link. No pics of the new toy but this is what its do. Old set up left new set up on the right.
  11. I ran 33s with 2.5l,4spd, and 3.55s. Daily drove it that way for a long time, even commuted on the freeway 90miles every day for a while like that. It kinda sucked and 4th gear was almost unusable but it did it. I ended up going to 4.88s.
  12. My D35 shaft fit perfect with my D44 and a SOA.
  13. The rear D30 found in some Volvos seems to be the most common place to find one.
  14. here's how I see it. the tooth count is stamped on the ring gear so if you don't know what ratio you have then you probably havent serviced the diffs in which case its probably due for it. Change the oil and you will know 100% for sure whats in there.
  15. You most likely have 3.07 gears, the best way to check ratio is to pop the cover and look at the numbers stamped in the ring gear, good idea anyway if your looking to run a used axle.
  16. Any other way?????....I do not have or want a facebook page  Give a login name and email and I will send it to the guy who runs the page.

  18. Best thing you can do is gears.
  19. Definently more flex to be had there, my old set up was short arm but I ran drop brackets.
  20. I havent seen any with amber lights, the clear section on mine are the backup lights.
  21. Busy weekend but I was able to play with the MJ for a bit. 5 years ago my brother and I built my tube bumper, I wanted it semi gloss black but he talked me into a dark gray hammer finish. Well I finally made it the way I wanted it, since it was off and needed touched up anyway i fired up the paint gun and gave it a nice shot of semi gloss black.
  22. Its a 93 AX15 that I converted to external slave, I used a Dakota bellhousing with a centerforce clutch disc and an Advanced Adapters pilot bushing to adapt it to my 2.5l. EDIT: 96-98 2.5l AX15 Dakota bellhousing, I've been told that the 99-02 2.5l Dakota NV1500 bellhousing also bolts up,main difference is that it uses a bellhousing mounted starter instead of the block mounted starter. You need a Centerforce clutch disc #383824 or a disc from a 1984 Camaro 2.5l 4spd if you can find it.(must be 4spd,5spd will not work). If you have a 92 or newer AX15 you can use Advanced Adapters pilot bushing #716167,for 89-91 AX15 you would probably need to have one made. Also if you use a 89-93 AX15 you will need to convert it to external slave.
  23. Sounds about right, I paid $60 something on Ebay but that was a couple years ago.
