  1. Try mixing in some synthetic hardener when you spray Rustoleum, it comes out way better. Colors better and more durable.
  2. It definently should move freely in there, the one in the pic I just dumped out into my hand.
  3. Maybe a month ago, they typically have at least one there all the time.
  4. Yes. You can also check inventory on the pic n pull website for all the locations.
  5. From your screen name I'm going to guess your in the Portland area. North Portland Pic N Pull had 3 MJs with good tailgates.
  6. Here is what's under there.
  7. Its under the line on top of the pump. Not sure if its covered in the manual.
  8. When mine did that it was the relief valve coming apart, eventually it unthreaded all the way and I lost powersteering completely. I opened it up, put it back together and it worked fine again.
  9. My brother abuses the crap out of his Clayton 3 link and it just keeps taking it. On mine i am building my own so I can address the frame side seperation issue stated above, most bolt on kits can only achieve 3"-3.5" seperation, I'm after around 7" so my upper link is going to be through the floor.
  10. There is a fairly detailed write up somewhere on this site. I remember reading about it here quite some time ago.
  11. Found some time Sunday and decided to build my t case so I pulled out my 231 collection and went to work. I also picked this SYE kit up from a buddy, he sold his XJ and gave me a great deal on it. One of those 231s is a 231c with the 6 pinion planetary and wider chain, I pulled them out to swap into my 231J for a strength upgrade since the t case will be behind a crawl box. After swapping in all the 231c guts and a SYE kit here is my new 231j steroid edition.
  12. Here you can see the problem, the MJ frame gets alot bigger where the XJ frame stays roughly the same size all the way back.
  13. From around the LCA mount to the cab support would be usable, the frame starts to get taller after the cab support so the whole rear section won't work.
  14. That would be alot of money for about a foot of useful material.
  15. Before I found a complete MJ harness I was going to use a 95 YJ harness,I had it all roughed in . The plan was to run the YJ set up as a stand alone and piggy back the sending units needed to run the renix gauges, I even had a pass through speed sensor to give the 95 ECU its signal while still being able to run the cable speedometer. I was basically doing it like you would put 4.0l injection in a CJ or early YJ.
  16. My brother just picked up one that the guy had blasted and painted gray, it looks pretty clean like that.
  17. 92 would have the same 2.5l MPI as you would have been swapping in. The earlier MJs use a Renix 2.5l TBI so a swap is much more involved then it would be on a 91/92 MJ.
  18. The 29 spline side gears won't fit the 27 spline carrier so you will need to swap carrier and all. For the tool a D30 stub shaft nut fits perfect so if you have a junk axle sitting around your set.
  19. All XJs with full time 4wd are non cad regardless of year, all with ABS should have the larger joints regardless of year. All axles after around 92 are non cad, all after around 95 should have larger joints. All TJs should be big joint non cad, ZJ shafts will fit too but some have CV shafts and I'm not sure the year interchange for 260 vs 297 for joints. Axles get swapped all the time though so always make sure your getting the right stuff. I don't believe the cad axle housing is stronger, a two piece tube with a chunk of cast in the middle doesnt seem like it would be stronger then a one piece tube. its also harder to truss a cad axle do to the cast section in the way, if you want to keep the cad axle i would look into an internal truss kit to strengthen the long side tube.
  20. Nothing seems to be carved in stone with jeep and I think thats even more so with the 84-86 XJ/MJs.
  21. Are you on 4bangerJP? Boring Dave on there just did put a SM420 up to a 2.5l.
  22. Mine came 3.55, ive heard of 86 MJs having 3.73 with the 4spd. I guess there is also the 3.30s in the Fuel miser package but ive never seen one or heard of anyone having one.
  23. I lucked out with mine, it is a plain jane white sport 2.5l AX4 and completely stripped of options but it does have 4wd. I think thats how a Jeep should be, both of my XJs have been fully loaded and I really dislike all the extra crap.
  24. Even dropped as low as I got them they still sit a bit higher then stock buckets, mine took some getting used to as well. Since my MJ is a trail rig I kinda like sitting up a little higher, I get better visibility then my brother does with stock buckets.
  25. The D60 may be ok but the tiny stock shafts bother me,I'm gonna have to spend a bit of money to make the front D44 live so I would rather put something beefy in the rear and not worry about it. We will have to see what goes under it, ive got the D60 and 2 Sterlings sitting at the shop.
