I also replaced spark plugs , wires , cap and rotor. next up on the to do list is to replace The rear carpet since it has many holes in it and replace The cooling system parts. I’m going to install new water pump , thermostat , hoses , and fan clutch. Just want to have peace of mind with the cooling system. I Also need to eventually get new tires and change all the fluids. So yea...all the good stuff

Next is I wanted to get rid of the radio and replace it with an oem one. The aftermarket radio in it looked extremely out of place. also bought a overhead console display module Since the one that was in it didn’t work. also replace windshield washer level sensor since it kept having the infamous washer sensor bad error message. I honestly can’t thank whoever did this radio install , they didn’t butcher any wires at all. Made the install of the oem radio so easy. looks more appropriate now.

Well I got another one ladies and gents . had been wanting a wrangler for a while to take over as a daily so I could focus on my Comanches more but after thinking it out I wanted something more comfortable to drive after a long days of work. Found this sweet 93 zj limited 4.0. Was excited and was hoping it would have the aw4 but nope it has 42re. But that’s fine. Overall it drives pretty dang good. I pulled a roadkill and traveled to San Diego with some friends to go pick it up. Plan was to trailer it home but said screw it and just drove it all the way home to Vegas. Was a little sketched out at first but this thing really impressed me. It handled the long drive home with no issues. Now that I’ve had it for almost 2 months I’m aware of some issues. Biggest issue by far is that the engine is burning some oil. It’s going through a quart every thousand miles. It’s at 197k as of now but apart from the oil burning issue it runs really good. Previous owners were very kind and invested a good amount of money in this thing. New sway bar links , track bar , steering box , tie rods , rotors , drums , calipers , wheel cylinders , wheel alignment and a few other little things. Thing does drive really nice. My plan is to give it a second lease in life and bring it back to it’s former glory. This will stay stock. Here’s a pic dump of the ol girl

Pillar Lights Stuck On
Fernando87mj replied to BizarroStormy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Check your headlight/dimmer switch , if you turn the knob all the way to the left you will feel a slight click and it turns on the interior lights regardless if the doors are open or not. Try turning the knob to the right a little and see if it turns the lights off. -
Hazard lights don't work when I step on brakes
Fernando87mj replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
iirc that’s normal ,both my Comanches do that. the brake lights will override the hazard and the hazard indicator will stay lit solid while I’m stepping on the brake and when I let go they go back to normal -
My 87 and 88 are low end models with honey interiors and black non tilt columns

Before I got my wj I had a 2014 Jeep Compass. It’s amazing the hate that Jeep hates. It’s a pretty decent vehicle. Mines was the base model. 2.0 6 speed Hyundai automatic , fwd sadly. cons. -AVOID THE CVT -Interior was a on the cheaper side but not horrible , it’s simple and it works. -smaller 2.0 engine was pretty weak but using the auto stick feature I could get it going fairly decently. - it is on the smaller side especially if you’re a big guy. I am 6’3 and room was decent. -sport base model was a little lacking on the features department. pros -better 4x4 system than competitors - First gen Compass Platform started in ‘07 , by 2014 or later most of the kinks had been Worked out - simple design - maintenance like spark plugs , brakes , oil changes , filters are all easy to perform -parts aren’t to expensive on it since it shares it with many other jeeps - 2.0 and 2.4 world engines appear to be fairly solid engines. Hardly hear any horror stories about those. hyundai 6 speed automatic used in it is pretty solid too. Just make sure to change the trans fluid. They say it’s sealed for life but don’t buy into that. -it’s safe. My 14 had standard seat airbags , curtain airbags , front airbags and kept my mom safe when she got hit by a red light runner. There was not a scratch on her. To sum it up , I had my 2014 Compass from 48k up to 122k when it was totaled. only issue I ever had with it was that the a/c recirculation door Actuator went bad which isnt horrible To replace and 1 day before it got totaled I had the check engine come on for a faulty brake light switch. That was it. Not bad compared to what I see working at a Honda dealer. Everything else was normal maintenance. It was a simple but reliable car and did it’s job up till the end. If you Just want a simple daily driver that will get you there and back with pretty good mpg and you want the Jeep name I wouldn’t shy away from it. this is how the Nissan that hit it looked like little compass held up extremely well. It is a safe car

88 MJ Rear Main Seal
Fernando87mj replied to Rotten Ralphy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I Literally Just got done doing this today on my wj. Took me around 5 hours but because the previous person that did this used way to much rtv on everything and clean up took a long time. I’d recommend using the blue fepro gasket. It includes these snap ups that hold up your gasket while you put your oil pan on. It made installation much much easier. -

Most likely dealer installed a/c. The switch on my 88 is like that -
I work with my hands everyday. I work as a technician at Honda , and when I’m not at work I’m At home working on one of my jeeps. I love doing what I do. Although it can be the incredibly frustrating sometimes , And warranty work sucks , But at the end of even the worst day’s , there’s nothing else I’d want to do. I love learning and getting better at what I do. I love and enjoy my job.

Got some fresh rubber on her , I got super lucky yesterday. It was my first time driving her long distance. I had loaded the new tires and planned on installing them at work. The drive there went fantastic but after work I came out and found both front tires had gone flat. Thankfully I had already planned on replacing those tires that same day.

Would anyone that lives in that area mind pulling that tailgate ? I will compensate you for your time. I’ve been needing a tailgate for my 87 really bad. Mine is in pretty bad shape. -

Turbine’s actually worth anything?
Fernando87mj replied to JordanTMiller's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I paid 100$ for mines , they came with caps on all 4. Finish isn’t perfect but pretty happy with them. -
got the passenger side engine mount in , while I was at it I replaced the oil filter adapter o rings . next up is replacing the fluid in the ol ba 10/5 , it’s pretty much done at this point but I want to change the fluid and try to get it to last me a little bit longer the oil filter adapter was actually a regular hex head , I was expecting a torx. old o rings were rock hard. new orings on
