Recently I have replaced cap and rotor because I never got to it back then. I refreshed the grounds per cruisers tips. I also plan on adding additional grounds per his tips. When I did these things they made a big improvement on my 88. I replaced both battery cables since they were horribly corroded and younger me didn’t know the amount of issues that could cause. i also replaced the battery itself. I replaced the fuel pump and filter. The replacement I had put in there years ago probably went bad from sitting so much. I also did one of the upgrades I had been longing for since I had joined this site. I finally found some turbines for the ol girl. Absolutely love the look. Also need to buy new rubber for it. here’s a picture dump. I totally forgot to take after pics of the pump and filter old battery cables were really bad. new cap and rotor

It’s been A lot of years since I’ve updated this. I’ve learned and grown a bit since this update. Got done with high school and started my Career as a tech. Found a good woman in the mean time and have learned a lot. Sadly this beauty has gotten neglected but I’m trying my best to get her to the point where she is better than ever. major issues as of now is that pukegoat. I think it’s pretty much toast at this point. It whines like crazy in every gear except 4th. Whine goes away when I press the clutch pedal so I’m thinking maybe a bearing inside the trans. Either way I’m trying to save whatever I can to possibly swap in a ax15. Not looking for a 4x4 swap. I’ll leave that for my 88. Power steering system needs to also be addressed. She’s leaking a good amount. Seems like the pump so pump replacement is in the future. Maybe even a steering box. If so I’ll just upgrade to a zj unit. I have already replaced the lines. Engine mounts are another needed repair. They are pretty much shot at this point.

Sigh..... one of the po’s left this gift for me. Sad thing is I don’t think it wouldn’t of gotten like this If they wouldn’t of filled the inside of the rocker with spray foam seems like this wj is originally from Detroit despite this , she isn’t going anywhere , we enjoy her to much to ever let her go...that and the amount of work I’ve put into it at this point Good thing is they don’t salt Roads in Vegas

"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build
Fernando87mj replied to Swampy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Can’t wait to see what you do with it , wish you the best friend ! -
Don’t worry , I did extensive research also and decided to go with a brand new alternator on my 88. I didn’t want to chance it with a rebuilt unit. Ordered a brand new ac Delco on rock auto over a year ago and it has worked flawlessly. Complete plug and play no mods or anything. No issues. I daily drive my Comanche about 50 miles a day. Volt gauge shows 14v at idle. I also did cruisers tips.

My wife and I bought this wj as a replacement for our totaled compass. Long story short we have both really fallen in love with this thing. It has some little issues but overall it is really Clean. It’s so far been a really great Jeep for us.

It looks really clean , I really like it , I wonder how it ended up there

Same here , sales department at the dealership is closed as of today , but the service and parts department will stay open , which worries me as a flat rate tech because I’m not sure if there will be plenty work to go around for everyone since many people are choosing to not leave their homes.

Do you Think you might pass by Vegas ?

How many different door Mirrors were offered?
Fernando87mj replied to hakukamana's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That spot is where the mirror was placed on some models. My best bet is on models that only came with a drivers mirror. My 88 came with only a drivers mirror , The mirror looked like just this. seems like it also came on some yjs https://www.morris4x4center.com/mirror-set-left-and-right-55027207k.html?gclid=CjwKCAiA4Y7yBRB8EiwADV1hac8gBOkXtFuZyM90zkNvKwrkWDgpP1J9erH8_TigSxWVGptyBOyOwxoCCVMQAvD_BwE -
I bought them off rockauto , the material is a bit flimsy but all the holes lined up perfectly on the passenger side , I can’t say the same for the drivers side , there seems to Be a bit of evidence of a past fender bender in this truck. Regardless I don’t think you would have a problem with having it line up

I got lucky and Found some turbines for my other Comanche. So this beauty got the leftover wheels. Really like the look. I also got to fixing the the temporary vacuum “connections” I had and actually ordered the whole vacuum harness. I also order the rear Pcv line and the grommet. The old grommet was plugged with 30 years worth of oil and wear. i wasn’t a fan of how high the pcv line was sitting at first but after a few miles it’s settled down and sits the same as the factory one did.

Finally got to installing some new shocks on the old girl. The old shocks and steering stabilizer were far gone , to the point where I could compress the piston on the shocks with a finger. New shocks installed.
