Out of curiosity, Does anybody actually have real world experience with the ray buck seat cover? -

Decided IT was time to do something about that old headliner. doggo supervising got the headliner back yesterday and it came out looking amazing. Also got the visors redone while I was at it. not putting the interior back together Just yet. Going to order new carpet for the old girl and get that redone while I’m at it. Also ordered new b pillar lights. Can’t wait to get this buttoned together. It’s going to look good.

got the Dana 35 lookin all pretty. No after pictures. Forgot to take after pic. Replaced and matched the mileage on new to me speedometer head. Old one was seized and was hard to turn. matching mileage wasn’t that hard , just takes a little patience. swapped in better leds while I was at it. :) took my time and tried to clean all the Dust out of the cluster. Think it came out looking pretty good.

Lots of updating to do. since last update I’ve.. -converted to open cooling system -replaced Speedo cable and speedometer head assembly -replaced trans fluid -replaced diff fluid -stared at it and fell more in love with it - got headliner and sunvisors reupholstered - replaced inner shift boot -added vent windows old and new boot , this made such a huge difference in interior noise despite the hate they get on here I really wanted vent windows and I have no regrets swapping them in. — converted to open cooling system , old radiator had already been leaking. Also wrapped and protected wiring , found passenger side horn wire was rubbed through and repaired it. spectra radiator had bung for renix fan switch.

I had a mopar seal still leak on my old wj 4.0 took my time and even used the mopar anaerobic sealer and everything. Wish I knew what I had done wrong. Definitely sucks.

Pretty good, knock on wood , it shifts better than the 02 wj 42re I had. I also added a much bigger external trans cooler and bypassed the trans cooler in the radiator and filled with only mopar fluid. Hopefully it holds up for a while. I take it really easy on her and 1-2 can be a little slow shifting sometimes but I’m not in a hurry when I drive it.

Thanks for the kind comments guys. I didn’t think I’d love the zj as much I do. really want to bring her back up her former glory. updates - Just replaced battery and cleaned terminals (forgot to take pics) -took power antenna mast out as it was making noise. Ordered a new one. - adjusted belt for better tension , and just got done breaking her in 3 days ago.

He’s right , on some new Honda’s replacing a tranny now requires you to connect a computer and make the Tcm handshake with the rest of the vehicle or it won’t work.

Considering how other cars are made especially newer ones that’s nothing to complain about. it’s still easy to get too. working on these things even with the Renix setup is relatively easy.

Finally decided to stop putting off redoing my cooling system. Parts replaced - water pump (gates) -thermostat (mopar) -lower and upper rad hose (continental) -drive belt (continental) -fan clutch (Hayden hd) -idler pulley (gates) . bled cooling system and checked for proper function. Had a coolant leak at the radiator at first but that’s resolved now. it’s nice to actually have a heater now. Old thermostat was stuck open so engine would never warm up. Didn’t really get to take to many pics due to it getting dark out pretty quickly now

They did in 93 through. And from what I’ve read the provisions for a master cylinder should still be there on the early years.

Those accords have tranny issues too. I’ve been having my 93 zj for a while now and i honestly am impressed. I really do like it. It’s just like an xj but more comfy and slightly bigger. Only Complaints is the trans can be a little iffy and the cheap plastics Chrysler used in the interior. But despite that it feels like a really solid platform with a lot of potential. If the 42re worries you the early years are easier to swap to a Ax15 if you’d like.

Finally decided to pull the trigger and get the drivers side seat redone. Went to go remove the drivers seat to get it ready for pickup and I ended up snapping 2 of the rear bolts . Knowing this thing is completely clean and rust free kinds surprised me. I couldn’t figure out how to get those stubborn bolts out since they were seized extremely bad. I then hatched an idea and remembered that a lot of people use heat to remove stubborn bolts. Hit up the local Lowe’s. Bought a torch and heated the broken bolts , and they actually ended up coming out like butter and best thing was that the threads are completely undamaged on the body. Pretty happy and learned a lot. blue heeler approves. seats now ready for pickup. Can’t wait to see the results.

The way I do it in customers cars is I’ll have the windows up and usually with a bad bearing you’ll hear a roaring noise. While driving I’ll turn the wheel slightly to the side I’m suspect of , if it gets louder, you know it’s that’s side. If you turn the other direction and it’s not as loud you know it’s not that side.
