  1. I was not aware of that. Thanks for clarifying. Do you happen to have a picture of a 2WD drive shaft? I have a 2wd shaft I can take a pic of and send it to you . Once everything is in place measure to get your shaft length . And if you're going to put a lift on your truck put that on before you do the shaft . I had my 2wd shaft shortened with no issues . They took all that rubber crap out , balanced it and put new joints in it for @ 100 bucks .
  2. I think you'd be best off finding someone in your area that has a standard trans mj/xj that would let you take it for a test drive . Personally I like the auto trans as I have one less thing to worry about if I have a pop or something else in my right hand .
  3. Would xj shackles work ? Aren't they only 1/2- 3/4 of an inch shorter in height? So in theory ,getting a set of 1 inch lift shackles for an xj would be the same as an mj shackle . Just a thought .
  4. Have you checked with maaco or Earl scheib for painting your truck . People in my area have gotten paint jobs rather reasonable . For what the bedliner costs ( and your going to have to mask it off anyhow ) it would be rather comparable . I'm all for you doing what you want with your truck and just trying to give another option .
  5. Hey Don I called my friend in parts at the local dealership . He said the oem 53006556 number was superseded and 91 -95 were the same . Hope that helps? Me like a dummy forgot to get the superseded number but I can call and get it tommorow .
  6. I wouldn't be able to get it till tues morning . But if you wanted to stop over you'd be more than welcome any evening after you tell me for sure you want it .
  7. He's 25 minutes away from me and farther from you also . If your serious and want it I can pick it up for you and meet you halfway . You can go on daveysjeep.com and see it on his website under "parts specials".
  8. Theres one a Davies jeep 330 337 5037 $125 . They also have a ax4 external housing 75$
  9. I live in Youngstown Ohio . Bodies rot out but 4.0s live forever !! Lol The 4.0 for sale is out of a 96xj with 77k on the engine . But it sounds like you're out west and might not have as many jys as us . I just got done building my 4.7 last year. Quick estimate, I have about 2k in the motor including all the machining and all new internal parts . Currently it has 2198 miles on it , and other than having to fix an oil pump it runs well . I have another 4.7 I'm putting together but I'm taking my good ole time doing so . Trying to find some good deals on performance parts .
  10. Tj 4.0s will also work in 99-04 wjs as I have one in my 01 as we speak . My advice would be to find a nice, low mileage clean engine even if parts need swapped over . There's currently several in my area with under 90k on them for $400 . With some work( flexplate ,head, etc) you can make most any 4.0 87- 98 fit in your truck . Make sure your rear main seal , head gasket, etc are all in good condition also as it's way easier to change outside the vehicle .
  11. Are you gonna be selling the steering wheel? can I call dibs ?
  12. I've always used bwd o rings . When I install them I use a little Vaseline to coat the rings so they don't bind or get cut . Iirc the BWD part number is 274572 .
  13. Oh ok . The kit came with the square washers when I bought the hitch new . Not saying the strips aren't better but I've towed 4 quads at a time ,vehicles etc.. with no problem . I'm wondering if the've ever been sued for the spacers ripping through the frame?
  14. When I put a new Hidden hitch on my 99 xj the hitch was bolted on with bolts and large square spacers for reinforcement . The kit came with peices of mechanics wire that the bolts threaded onto so the wire could be fed into the frame holes , pulled through and nuts and lock washers were used on the bottom . Iirc there were 4 on each side.
  15. Disconnect the cable at the transfer case / transmission and then that will give you ample room to pull it from the firewall to get to the back of the cluster to see the clip better .
  16. I don't think there's much to save on this one . He made it so customized I think there's a small amount of people that would buy it .
  17. Wow Glundblad nice truck !!! Glad to see an original owner mj even though it left you for a bit .I also have the factory LSD 44 in my truck and I'm the second owner of mine but the cable was snapped clean off and I'm guessing the spare is in a ditch or by now recycled into something else . I never thought to look at my window sticker/ build sheet to confirm which spare it came with . Ill run what I have now until I can decipher exactly what the truck had . Thanks
  18. They all look rather solid/ nice . In Ohio that many Mjs on a cl page would be considered a rust convention . Lol
  19. If mvusse doesn't pan out I have a couple leafs outside . Pretty sure there in good shape and will check in the morning as it's dark now . I know the've been rebuilt at one time . Let me know .
  20. Thanks Incommando . I just picked one up , but wouldn't mind having another for my other truck . Daytons a bit far away though are you getting rid of it soon ? What size tire is it? Thanks again .
  21. Went to the local jy today and picked up a temporary full size spare off of the only mj there . $25 not the most I've spent there lol . Thanks guys .
  22. No. I was just trying to figure out a way to incorporate the amber lenses in the factory tail lights . I've already heard of people separating the turns and brake lights on this forum . Figured it would help with the 97+ conversion as those and even the older xjs have independent turns and brake lights .I'm hoping that there are some tail lights that have holes and cracks in them that can be repurposed for this .As I'm sure not too many people would want to cut up perfectly good tail lights . Thanks keyav8r
  23. I bought the plastic at a local business called Bakers plastics and it's literally 5 minutes down the road. I also want to thank Hornbrod for posting the pictures for me .
  24. I knew that the wiring was going to be another hurdle to jump . And you are correct it is acrylic amber plastic . I paid $5 for a section 2 5/8 width by 4'length . The acrylic was easy to bend with a heat gun and no bubbles or imperfections surfaced . I backed the clear amber plastic with prizm ? plastic that is used for ceiling fixtures . Thanks Eagle .
