Intake bolts...Any secret?
sinkrun replied to coolwind57's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Taking them out is easy wait until you try to put them back in. In from the front of the engine from the top for the center two. long skinny arms lots patiance and universal socket. You think the renix is bad do a 2000 up Cherokee. I have replaced bolts with studs for reassembly so you can at least feel where the nuts go. -
Take it to a small machine shop they can fix it.
-
Are the steel ones that horrible? The steel ones lasted what around 20 years or more and the chance of them ever going bad again are quite slim if you keep the antifreeze changed.

if you buy a new belt try a good year gator back less chirp.

Whats sucks is I just junked a couple 4.0`s that needed rebuilt I would have gave you one. My guy will gladly just machine hes getting older semi retired mainly just does chevy race engines now but if hes in a good mood he will do others. He charged me around $450.00 to bore, deck the block, hot tank, check rods for twist and press on new pistons, check and polish the crank, new freeze plugs installed. Also he installed the rings, pistons and bearings I did the rest. I had a head that I bought already rebuilt. Theres a shop in Warriors Mark that wanted double this. One thing I started dong on the 00 or 01 manifolds is using a stud and nut on the back couple bolt holes at least you can feel what to do. -
One of many,

Awesome work just read thru your build tonight not sure how I missed it. I see your only about 25 miles away. 2001 engine? Those 0331 heads are JUNK I have seen that color oil many times. I had several 01`s do that put a older head on them. Ran one for 30,000 miles had another I bought blown up pistons were starting to melt. 2000-2001 heads had issues toss that head and yes the bearing looks a little unhealthy. The machine shop near me that built mine has great rep and is very decent with price if you want his info i can send it. Either A good rebuilt used 97-99 head or a 2002 and up they fixed them. Lots info on the net. -
Rear bumper opinions/options:
sinkrun replied to Sir Sam's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have the same one infact it was one of his first( $135.00 shipped) been a lot years no problems ever except the reciver fit a little loose so I welded it up and ground it to fit tighter. Mine did do just like yours due to the way it bolts to the included brackets so I had it welded to the brackets no more movement. I left the bolts in it along with welding it. -
What about this header on a TUPY 0331 head?
sinkrun replied to Kickin’Chicken's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Can anyone tell for for sure what it would take to put this on a 89 thats all factory 4.0 other than the bung for the tube from the manifold. -

sinkrun replied to NHMJXJ's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
I bet he paid no where near that for it. -
If you don't need the money or space keep it. My dad tried to give me his 89 ram 4x4 70,000 miles on it one owner that needed bed about 8 years ago I had just bought my Comanche said no and have been pissed at myself to this day.
