Ebay is the best place to buy the struts USA made and half what anyone else wants plus shipping is included.
-
Go to ebay completed auctions put in 2000 or 2001 cherokee and hit highest price the scroll down till you find one in the same shape and miles range. Low mile 80-120k XJ without rust are selling 8-12k with rust 3-6k crazy I know.

You can get a greyhound quote online yourself if that helps.

Grey hound shipping for large heavy stuff is or at least was really cheap compared to others I have not used them in a couple years.

oil pan gasket install under truck
sinkrun replied to sinkrun's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes one piece gasket, I just tried 1992 eliminators idea and will install the pan in the morning. -
Had a pan leaking bad on my new engine its a 96 bolck in my 2001XJ new engine ran great. I must of had the gasket kinked also didnt clean the little holes out on the main cap they still had old gasket in them somehow I missed it. Anyhow I know have to do this under the jeep I got the pan off which is not easy for sure. I am reading allot of ideas on other forums about how to get it lined up on the block. Any suggestions from those of you who have done this with success. I am leaning towards permatex Hi tack and using the bolts to hold it to the block over night and trying to sit the pan on the next day or can it be done sooner? Also If I use high Tack should I still use regular sealer in the corners like the instructions say? Any help or thoughts would be great.

Axle Leaks... again..
sinkrun replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sounds just like mine my d44 is leaking just told this at last inspection and the fronts been leaking for about a year. For the rear take the shafts out and to a auto machine shop and let them do bearing and seals then just slide the shafts back in. The front looks like a pain theres some write ups on the net about it. -
2000 and 2001 heads had a issue with cracking its all over the net do some searches. Do not put a 2000-01 head back on, either go newer or older new is direct swap I believe. Older heads can be used some guys run the coil on plug rail without brackets with no issue. I made my own and the head ports do not line up however there is this http://jeepexhaustadapter.com/ I have used this and it does work I have been running one for 4 years and am getting ready to do another soon. I do not know iif the older renix heads work I used a 96 and A 97 head on mine.

Crate motors Where / what to buy
sinkrun replied to sinkrun's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I actually have some tools for rebuilding and a block on a stand and bought a book and used to be a machinist. I have never built a actual engine before. However serious health issues are stopping me right now. Its for the wifes daily driver so I need it now and right someone has to get to work. I talked to a local engine builder I thought retired (he didnt) says he will do all machine work, clean, check, test everything, polish crank, and re assemble it and stand behind it for $500.00 and the ( includes the block needing bored) if I supply the parts. I think I should be good for around 400-600.00 in parts so that dosent sound to bad. I have a new rebuilt head already so he just doing the short block. Akula if you were near by I would have a job for you and thanks for the tool offer! -
This is for the daily driver 2001 cherokee any thoughts input issues etc on a stock crate engine,

sinkrun replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
I was wondering what he wanted for this its not A bad price and 20 miles away from me. I don't need it but am tempted at that price -
The toy train market is way down in price. Good news is its always up around Christmas and a few months after. My dad has a large collection and most I got for him as I have been a picker buying and selling all types of antiques for the last 20 years. He has talked of selling his lately and my suggestion was to put them in a GOOD well established auction or auction company. Not one of the ones where they sell cookies, apples and antiques either. Find one that well know for getting good or high prices for there stuff and just does antiques. Theres always Ebay to but the prices on there are way down right now I truly feel a on site auction would be better at least in my area and at the end of the day its all sold gone and done with as ebay can take a while. I sell on ebay also so if you go that route and need any tips let me know. What gauge are the trains I am just curious. Also I see your in Winchester thats a good antique area should be a decent auction around.

Comanche Tailgate Rust Repair
sinkrun replied to ComancheFan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Find rust free gate if you have the funds as rust in a seam will come back almost every time. -
Not sure of your location? What you may want to do is figure shipping from your location to the farthest point in the US from you add $25.00 to that amount add it to the hitch price and make the shipping free in the lower 48 states.

Good point.
